In the film the AI was supposed to be accurate, just disgustingly immoral. In this case, it certainly can't even accurately determine targets, because none of this AI crap actually works as intended. Every AI I have ever seen has not been able to address the problem of goal misalignment. It never does exactly what you set out to get it to do. Not that Israel cares, so long as they have targets.

I don't think the global population as a whole is going to stand for this- at least not forever. The people in charge represent a tiny fraction of the species. They won't be able to hold their grip on power if they abuse it too much, and to my eyes, while things LOOK hopeless and they probably are for many of us individuals, the grip of the elites on their power is already slipping. People want to be free and live in peace no matter what is done to them. Nothing can kill the human desire to be free.

just to be facturally accurate, their program is just an algorithm, not "AI". they're tracking data points and assigning scores to them using a script. It's "AI" only in the same way warcraft 2 campaign was an "AI" (just a script).
I'm in no way saying it's OK, I'm just saying, it's not ammunition for AI fearmongering because it's not AI. Could AI be built and used in this way? Absolutely. But we haven't seen this happen (yet).
Anyone who has asked chatgpt a question with any depth knows that allowing AI to select targets without human confirmation is really terrifying.
A similar conversation comes up in criminal justice. People talk about allowing AI to identify suspects. It's terrifying to think cops, prosecutors, even juries will say "the computer says you're guilty" and that will send people to prison.

As messed up as this is, I think we are being generous to assume that 20~ seconds isn't the amount of thought that would go into a similar strike in another warzone when coordinates are pulled down through something like artillery or even precision strikes which has been gathered through the use of less intelligent technology for decades (like heat maps from recon planes). In an actual war zone, groups of military aged males entering an area would likely be enough to authorize a strike. I'd be shocked if this wasn't the way the US operates when in a place like Iraq or Afghanistan. That's why the civilian casualties are so high in those conflicts as well.
Doesn't change that this is still the weaponization of AI for warfare, a dangerous realm.
