Interesting thing about this duel, rainbow dragon didn’t even exist yet, Pegasus had yet to find the monster tablet containing the spirit of Rainbow Dragon

@@roncerjani9063 some monsters are just created, just like kaiba corp just created a card for neos with a drawing by jaden in the past, but some really legendary monsters in the DM/GX cotinuity (and maybe 5ds as seen on shooting star dragon) are only created after a stone tablet or some other source, in a way rainbow dragon's card in the anime was created just like the egyptian gods and it is more likely all crystal beasts were already found by that time and everything was indicating rainbow dragon as a boss monster by name, but nowhere did they find the tablet for rainbow dragon itself, only clues that it is somewhere.
8:47 Realised after, if Jaden had sent a different Neo Spacian from his deck he could have summoned Chrysalis Larva and then Flare Scarab.
When equipped with Neo’s Energy it would have 2,900 attack.
And would only get stronger as more crystal beats are put into the S/T Zone.
Sapphire Pegasus couldn’t out power it next turn, so Jaden most likely would have won.

I was wondering when amethyst cat attacks directly in general regardless of effect, the damage is halved isn’t it? Or is that just the tcg and in anime it’s effect is an activation effect?
When you think about it both decks are decks that were the result of a contest. Jaiden’s was the winner of a card design contest put on by Kaiba Corp and launched into space while Jesse’s was a contest prize from Industrial Illusions
Destiny at work.
Then you have Aster whose Dad designed his deck.
Man GX really did have the most unrealistic origins for some of the decks and upgrade cards.
And I thought 5ds was bad with Yusei miraculously finding multiple copies of his cards until he could build two decks and have the tuners for his synchro monsters that mostly need specific ones.

I believe the reason he didn't actually use the effect of Dark panther is because it gains the NAME of the targeted monster, removing the Neo-Spacian part of the name. I think Neos Energy lists that only Neo-Spacians can be equipped with that card.
Was wondering if anyone else said this. I didn't even know about that before this video, so I decided to check the wiki. Even if the card does start as Dark Panther, turning it into Mammoth would remove Neo-Spacian from its name. Neos Energy wouldn't apply.
Also Topaz Tiger wasn’t even on the field anymore. It got bounced the turn previously when Jesse used it to attack Grand Mole. TGS’ entire rant was irrelevant

@@sasir2013 I believe, and don't quote me on this as a former judge during the 5Ds Era, it would destroy the equip card as the requirement still would need to be met for the card to function. Either that or it would remain equipped but the effect would not activate.
Wait, is the effect of Crystal Beast Rainbow Dragon to summon itself when an attack is declared involving a Crystal Beast monster a reference to Jesse's bluff at the end of this duel? Holy I never noticed that!
Yeah Jesse's deck has a tone of small details that reflect his character. Notice how Rainbow Bridge of the Heart, Crystal Conclave, Rainbow Dragon, Rainbow Overdrive Dragon and Rainbow Overdragon don't destroy monsters or send them to the graveyard but bounce them or shuffle them into the deck? It seems to reflect Jesse's desire not to want to destroy his opponents monsters.
Also not going to lie his Structure Deck is pretty underrated.
@@Akechi_The_Phantom_Detective So Jesse is like Raphael. Raphael's Guardian monster deck is focused on preventing his monsters from going to the graveyard. Jesse doesn't want to destroy his opponents monsters and his cards don't have monster destruction effects.
Jadens mistakes were common dueling mistakes you could make while Jessie it felt like he liked it more when his cat dodged monsters to attack.

I'm convinced that Jessie using amythist cat the way he did was intentional. He uses his loss to kinda advertise the fact he doesn't have rainbow dragon and out right asks if anyone has seen his ace. I think this is something he probably does a lot, he's in a new place surrounded by duelists from an entirely different part of the world. It's a good time to ask for help. I don't think he was playing to win from the start.
Plus, I think Jesse wanted to keep the duel going cause it was too much fun for him, and Jaden was likely having just as much fun.
I also think he wanted to see what else Jaden could do. Like he said, the reason he duels is to learn new moves and strategies, and he can’t do that if he either destroys his opponents’ cards before they can use them, or if he wins the duel too early.

Yea, it feel like he half gave up on elemental heroes. Neos or the Neos Spacians dont even have any crossover fusions in the show with the OG heroes.

There was actually a third duel between Jaden and Jesse in season 4. It's interesting because even though Jesse isn't necessarily trying to win, he still gets the advantage on Jaden to the point where he could easily win iirc
While true, Jaden wasn't exactly in his right mind during that duel. He was hallucinating due to his Polymerization being infected with darkness, and it even caused him to almost pass out shortly before the duel. He even misplayed in that duel by not summoning Bubbleman with an empty field which would give him a free draw 2. The entire point of the duel was for Jesse to help Jaden break free of his infected Polymerization

7:44 I realised that Jaden could have special summoned Elemental Hero Magma Neos as he has the requirement but us as the viewer didn't know he had it yet. Also it wouldn't help that much as it will still get destroyed when Rainbow City arrived on the field same way Flare Neos would have been destroyed
Yeah, summoning it would have been risky as he still didn't know what else Jesse's deck could do.
In a worst case scenario ,if the Field Spell was removed or if Jesse had something to get rid of it, it would mean Jaden leaving his field with next to no resources to defend himself with if he doesn't OTK Jesse the same turn.

10:40 Didn't you just say that Tapaz Tiger was bounced back to the hand? Jessie already normal summoned Amber Mammoth before that happened, so Topaz Tiger was no longer on the field when Jaden summoned his panther.
Topez Tiger wasn't on the field, it was sent back to Jesse's hand during the previous turn by Grand Mole's effect.
I do wish jessie was in the series from an earlier season maybe season 2 because he is one of my favourite charicters I love the crystal beasts personalities

Yeah, as much as i like Season 3, the whole of him suddenly appearing to become Jaden's best friend, be the goal of the season, and causing everyone else to get benched really feels rushed at some parts.

One issue with 10:15 is the fact of Topaz Tiger wasn’t on the field it was in Jesse Hand. The one on the field was Amber Mammoth so Panther wouldn’t work. Also changing the name may not work as it’s not longer a neo spacian monster.
Jesse and Jaden did have one more duel in season 4. Jaden's mind was clouded so he thought he dueling one of those Darkness agents using Jesse's deck but it was in fact him. It ended inconclusively but Jesse had Jaden on the ropes throughout the entirety of the duel
Speaking of dub moments with the crystal beasts, it was really funny to me when they go into that dimension where all monster spirits are real how Jesse had to fully explain how Sapphire Pegasus was becoming even more useless against the Harpie Ladies.

The dub voice cast for the Crystal Beasts in Yu-Gi-Oh! GX were enjoyable to listen and gave personality to each one. And *TGS Anime* ain't shy to show that. Hope to see an Analysis of Yusei Fudo vs Jack Atlas later.
People like to rag on the dub yet complain that the last season never got dubbed. After watching both versions, I generally prefer GX dub and 5Ds sub (DM they're about the same.) idk, the thing is GX has a lot of campy and cringey moments even subbed, so if I'm gonna get that either way I'd prefer it at least be something they go all in on in a language I understand.

I like how when topaz tiger is summoned and the camera pans to Jaden, Grand Mole just has a baffled look on it's face
I like the way you say, "and ends his turn." That high AND gets me every time
You know I will say this for Jesse if there's one thing his structure deck emphasises it's his desire not to destroy his opponents cards as both Rainbow Bridge of the Heart and Crystal Conclave both emphasise bouncing cards rather than destroying them... hell even Rainbow Dragon and Rainbow Overdrive Dragon emphasise shuffling monsters back into the deck. It's small details but I love it.
Though I will mention the reason Jaden didn't use Black Panther to copy Topaz Tigers effect is because as you pointed out Ground Mole bounced it back to the hand unless I'm missing something. As for Jesse's misplay... pfft who knows...
Funnily enough that makes much more devastating removal since it bypasses floating effects and destruction immunity.

I can't really say it's meta per say but I do think it's a decent rogue deck purely due to how abusable Pegasus is with the new support. Unfortunately, getting out the Rainbow Dragon usually means playing into a Nibiru but the deck is really good at spamming rank 4's if anything.

Among the many many duels I'd like to see analyzed, I'd love to see Yuma and Nash's final duel. It's one of my favorites in the franchise.

Jesse made another bad decision during the penultimate turn: When he moves Ruby Carbuncle to the Spell and Trap Zone, that means he has four crystals in the backrow, so he can activate Rainbow Ruins to draw a card. Ruby's anime effect to special summon itself from the S/T zone is an ignition, not a trigger, so Jesse doesn't have to activate it immediately, just whenever he chooses during his main phase. Its entirely possible this one card wouldn't have helped, but it also could've been; "M Force" giving +500 ATK and pierce to a crystal beast, "Crystal Release" for +800 ATK, or something absurdly powerful like "Crystal Fortress" which means Jaden couldn't declare an attack with any monster with ATK lower than 1000 * the amount of Crystal Beasts on Jesse's Field, meaning 5000; Air Neos couldn't get over this, and Flare Neos would have great difficulty getting this high due to only gaining 800 (Fortress and Rainbow Ruins being the only Spells or Traps on the field, as Jaden has none).
Main issue, I have with Johan/Jesse's crystal beast deck is that he has so few monsters in the deck and most of them are just weak monsters set up to summon one really strong monster. It's also early in the series so their isn't much support for Jesse to search all the cards he needs without luck playing into his favor
Yeah, tho the same can be said about Jaiden's season 1 deck and the Neo Spacians
He either has a bunch of vanilla monsters with super specific fusion combos or a handfull of mostly crappy low level monsters(except Grand Mole, he's actually really good) who's only purpose is to be combined with a LvL 7 normal monster to create kind of lackluster fusions that go back into the Extra Deck at the ebd if the turn if a specific field and/or equip spell isn't on the field
If this were an actual Duel using *just* their anime decks or as close as possible both would brick so hard lol

@@filipvadas7602 What's funny about this. Tag Force 2 and 3 Acknowledge how God awful Neo Spacians are. That multiple deck profiles cut out all Neo Spacians except Grand Mole and in TF3 almost always relying on Prisma.

At 2:52 you stated Jaden could've used Grand Mole to bounce Emerald Turtle but if he did then Neos would've had to attack Cobalt Eagle because Aqua Dolphin doesn’t have enough attack to get over it so damage wise the turn would've played out the same but Jesse would have one less Crystal Beast one field so that could changed the duel a bit.

How about “Was Blue Girl about to defeat Soulburner” as a idea? It did look like she was gonna win
God that duel angers me. Soulburner uses this random anti-burn card that in no way synergizes with his strategy or the rest of his deck but just so happens to be a really effective card against Trickstar. Contrivance to the extreme even by the standards of this anime.
Vrains is the most annoying Yu-Gi-Oh series to watch, the main character has to beat all the bad guys and all of the other good guys get fucked over so Playmaker had to finish the job as they got fucked by a random card the bad guy happens to draw that counters their deck.

10:34 the equip spell is a "neospacian" only card. If Jaden had used Panthers' effect, he either couldn't equip it or the spell would have destroyed itself while equipped.
10:46 I believe the reason he didn't steal the name of topaz tiger is because without the "neo spacian" name, his equip spell wouldn't have worked on Dark Panther anymore
*Dark panther doesn't copy atk value jus name& effect for 1 turn
*Glow moss effect activates automatically the spell card part only it effects directly only when gloss moss gets the spell card only on ur turn when opppnent gets the spell the attack gets thru

The funniest part of this duel for me is that both of their Decks are fueled by the engine that is *pure* plot armor
Jesse/Johann has literally *7 monsters* in a 40 card deck, most of which are weak/useless on their own and one super hard to summon boss monster (and he didn't even have that during this duel). So the fact that he got 4 of them in his *opening hand* no less just made me laugh out loud
Meanwhile, Jaden/Judai is using a mix of Neo Spacians and his vanilla E-Heroes.
The former reyling on fusing a LvL 7 normal monster and a bunch of ,mostly, crappy low level monsters to create fusions that die *instantly* if their field spell isn't up on the field
While the latter relies on super specific fusion combos and equip spells, that would cause a brick instantly
It get that its the anime and all decks have infinite consistency, but this duel would be hillarious in real life XD

Don't forget that Judai also plays the Chrysalis support for his Neo Spacians, which are practically a full archetype unto themselves albeit a smaller one in terms of volume (6 monsters + about as many spell/traps), so that's another like 10 or so non-Neo Spacian cards there to help make the Neo Spacians more consistent.

Tho to be fair, both Neo Spacians and Crystal Beasts have been treated pretty well in recent years. So if the two were to have a modern rematch it would at least be cool to watch

I miss yugioh pre 5 D's. I still play legacy of the duelist duel link, but I always use non syncro pendulum or link cards. Puts me at a huge disadvantage but love creating old school decks and pulling that win.
Definitely remember the glory days of only 1 field card at a time.

I've always adored Crystal Beasts, it was one of the first decks I ever went out of my way to build and I played and refined that deck to hell and back (not at competitive level obviously) but not once in all my CB reworks did I ever use Rainbow Dragon, I tended to go for Hamon, Lord of Striking Thunder as my big bad. The only deck I've ever used RD in was a Hero fusion deck and that was just as material for Rainbow Neos.
As always, love this series. Maybe do a vrains ones next, since I believe you haven't covered a single one of them

I recently picked up Crystal Beasts thanks to the new structure deck. I really enjoyed this duel!
i know people think crystal beasts were a terrible deck, however i disagree with them with the right build they can be a very scary deck without the new support cards why? Crystal Abundance, someone i know likes to host tournaments in Yugioh tag force and Jesse is a very terrible duelist he never seems to win tournaments HOWEVER when he does win duels its through the effect of crystal abundance however with a few tweaks to the deck it can become very powerful, and very scary, he even took out crow hogan, he has taken out very powerful duelists via crystal abundance but sadly jesse loses 90% of his duels
Amber Mammoth being voiced by Sean Schemmel is the funniest part of GX.

At 7:00 I actually think Jaden was correct to leave his GrandMole in play, Jesse was in top deck mode at this point, his only definite monster was Topaz Tiger, if Grand Mole bounces that back to hand then it's just giving Jesse free reign to attack directly with it next turn, and if Jesse top decks some kind of attack boosting spell card (like Crystal Release, which we know from later episodes is in his deck) then that would have ended the game, alternatively if Jesse had top decked something like a Fissure which you pointed out then he still would have only been able to do 1600 damage with his Topz Tiger, the only realistic way for Jaden to be punished by leaving the Grandmole in play is if Jesse top decks a +1 draw spell, which he does funnily enough, but then that draw spell needs to draw him something like a Fissure and an additional monster to play at the same time (which also must have less than 2000 attack points, as otherwise Jaden loses regardless of the play he makes)
Can't wait for the next duel analyze. Would be cool for you to do playmaker vs a.i last duel cause that would be cool to see if that woudlve been different at all

Love the video but there was one little thing I notice. The question of Jaden's move with Dark Panther. It was questioned why he didn't use Dark Panther's effect on Topaz Tiger. Topaz Tiger was not on the field because it was bounced back along with Grand Mole. Grand Mole was needed to use the spell Convert Contact that then allowed the events of Caccoon Party and combo that comes after. At the time only Amber Mammoth was on the field. Without activating Grand Mole's effect it would have been destroyed and he would not have been able to draw the two cards for the combo. Jaiden could have used it on Amber Mammoth for an extra 700 attack. Still a misplay but I think the video had a little misplay of its own. I look forward to seeing more duel videos.
It wasn't a misplay dark panthers effect only copies the name of the card and the effect not the atk/def

I’ll be honest, I love Jesse/Yohan’s philosophy. Part of the reason why I avoid playing Tier 0 and negation cards is because they don’t respect the fact that their opponent is also trying to play the game.

Hey Sam, there’s a little mistake in the scenario with Dark Panther. He wouldn’t be able to copy Topaz Tiger’s effect. He was bounced back into Jesse’s hand when he attacked Grand Mole last turn before Dark Panther was summoned
Dark Panther still could have copied Amber Mammoth's name & atk points, so Jaden would have had a 2500 atk point Dark Panther/Amber Mammoth, and that would have done 400 damage with the second effect of Rainbow Ruins cutting damage in half. So yeah, still a misplay
@@roninwarriorsfan Or the reason Jaden didn't use Dark Panther's effect is due to changing his name, thus no longer being a Neo Spacian, meaning that Jaden's equip spell would either be negated or destroyed (most likely negated) because it can only work on Neo Spacians, not Crystal Beasts.
I’ve intentionally held back so I can do certain plays like summoning a monster with a difficult summoning condition or just wanting to end on a board with certain cards, but I only do that in Duels where I know that I can get away with it like in video games because I know it would otherwise blow up in my face like it did with Jessie here.

My God the dub for the crystal beasts is ridiculous lol. Like having OG ash Ketchum be like the cat was pretty bizarre but having an elephant sounding like Arnold Schwarzenegger........ I gotta ask 4 kids what was your deal back then lol! I seriously could not breathe when the minute a crystal beast was summoned and I'm like oh they probably have a cool voice until I heard their dub voice, it's like watching a dynasty Warriors character only to find out that it's the 1 from 3 meaning their voices are not good. But still this was a pretty fun duel even when they did found out about how Jesse couldn't do his win condition which was also smart and it is a darn shame that they didn't have a second duel properly instead of one that had with a weird demon girl man thing. Solid analysis TGS!

I really enjoy this series.
Honestly, I think the play of not contact fusing for Flare Neos makes more sense even without hindsight. Consolidating the three of them to one monster makes Jaden’s board more vulnerable to Jesse’s backrow almost regardless of what it is (barring Mirror Force, but that would kill Flare Neos anyway) and if that monster has to leave the field because of an MST, that’s even worse. I’m gonna call that a misplay, although it does play into the typical anime strategy of “make my big flashy fusion monster.”
