I swear this was explained more technically. Essentially once you consume a devil fruit your body is basically possessed by it. So when you try to consume another, it can’t possess your body so it for ed it’s way out by making you explode. But the Black Hole fruit can capture and contain the other devil fruit and prevent it from escaping.

The fact Universal Studio Japan had a grave created IRL for Ace and Whitebeard after this showed just how big of an impact the world of One Piece is to everyone. 2 amazing characters that deserved the world, but instead got family both in the series and from the fans.

Even though he wasn't a swordsman, the lack of wound on his back is proof of his greatness. Which makes his weapon, Murakumogiri, an interesting choice as it's considered one of the 12 supreme grade swords just like Mihawk's Yoru
Ain't that the truth, In fact I find that Murakumogiri is just more interesting in general. Sure Yoru stands out more but that's because it's a Black Sword... Murakumogiri is not blackened and yet it's so sublimely crafted that even then it's still considered as on par with Yoru.
He is a swordsmen. The sword he wields is in the same class as Mihawks, one of the greatest swords in the OP universe. Just because he fights with his power people discredit him but he was without a doubt a swordsmen.
@@Kevin-qp6ow Eh... not to dump on Whitebeard but that's a load of bull. Whitebeard is, or was, without a doubt the strongest pirate of the era... but he is and never was a swordsman. But we weren't talking about him, we're talking about his weapon and the blacksmith who made it.
The fact that Murakumogiri (and Ace for that matter) are graded on par with Yoru and Shusui despite neither being blackened makes them far more impressive than *either* of the black swords.
It speaks well of the smiths who made them that they had the skill to produce swords that in the most basic stage of bladed weaponry in this verse are considered on par with those beasts.

Just because he isnt defined as a " swordsmen " since he is much more then that, it doesn't take the title away from him. Did you not see how he handled the blade when he struck BB? Was that not swordsmens talent with a blade that unique and that big ?

Whitebeard’s speech and his death is to this day one of the greatest moments in all of onepiece and anime for me. He died like the biggest CHAD in all of fiction. Him having no scars on his back is proof of that. Like Zoro said « a swordsmans biggest shame are wounds on their backs».These episodes made whitebeard one of my favourite characters of all time and i think it will stay like that for a long time. His death made me cry so hard, more than Ace’s actually.

Oda is so genius that Teach's plan is flawless right from the beginning, even before Ace's capture. He hides in the Whitebeard's shadow just to find Yami-yami no mi, and then intentionally makes someone go after him. That's the reason why Shanks warned Whitebeard not to chase after him due to how sneaky he is.
And yet most of his plan succeeded through luck

Back at the start of Skypiea when Luffy, Zoro and Nami meet Blackbeard she asks what "his' deal was" to which both Luffy and Zoro correct her that it's "them" which seems to imply that Blackbeard is made of two people fused together...

21:19 Blackbeard basically told his crew that if his plan at Marineford didn't work, they would all disband. From the moment he stole the Yami Yami no Mi by killing Thatch, he was likely already setting up this plan to steal Whitebeard's fruit as well, the plan including capturing Ace (or any Whitebeard Pirate who would chase him), causing the Summit War and becoming a Warlord in the process.
Shiryu gives us great insight of the Blackbeard pirates and especially how Teach works here. Teach is a shemer that plays the odds. Its not unlikely this was his goal from the start, before turning Ace in, to lock in and get Whitebeards power. But Shiryu tells us it wasnt sure to work "will we disband if he fails?", Blackbeard based this whole plan on a possibility, a theory. And he propably recruited all these manaces on his crew with the words "help me do this for freeing yall and if it works i will become so strong that i will fulfill all your wishes if you ally with me. If it fails youre free to go."

And you know what's crazy Whitebeard said the only iron rule was not to kill a crew member, which means that the rule stating whoever finds a devil fruit gets to keep it could've been bent or overlooked if Blackbeard actually asked Thatch and made a case for him taking it. There's nothing that says he couldn't have done that and knowing how long he served as well as the family like relationship on the crew he could've gotten it peacefully if he tried.

Oda created a masterpiece in Whitebeard’s character. My favorite character by far and Episode 485 does him absolute justice
Fun fact: While in the anime, Whitebeard only loses the left side of his moustache; in the manga, Whitebeard takes a sever headwound to match, taking a quarter of his head with the shot.
In other words, Whitebeard was still conscious while missing a part of his head.
i've been keeping my eyes and ears open in the last 10-15 years for something that could match Whitebeard, and the only thing i've found that i would say is compareable is the Bismarck, WW2 german Battleship, built for defense and to rule the waters at the time, it was held in place by a british Carrier-group, but ultimately taken down by all the ships the british navy could mobilise at the time.
oh and one more thing, while Bismarck was sinking, it's turrets fell out of their sockets, and by the time Bismarck hit the bottom of the ocean, he was "standing" right-side-up. (with 4 holes / missing turrets)
