Thanks for the video. I am playing around with my MIDI Baby with my HX Stomp. I’d love to see a video on that. Using it as an external footswitch and as a MIDI controller. You rock!!!
Just saw the announcement of the Midi Baby 3... and I finally think I'm gonna have to get one. Using it with an Adrenalinn 3, and that unit's main shortcoming is it only has 2 buttons. This is perfect! Small, configurable, doesn't need crazy options. Just a simple, easy to use MIDI button controller. Good job!
Just have 2 questions: 1. Can I control a Jackson Audio Golden boy and a Jackson Audio Broken Arrow with the MIDI Baby 3? and 2. Can I then hook up the Baby 3 with a DPC-5 Gen3 and use it to recall the presets I store on the Baby 3 for the Jackson pedals? Thanks !!!
Bought a MIDI baby second-hand. When I plug it in the lights work, but when I open up the editor it doesn't seem to detect it. Just says "enable input and output". How can I fix this?
@Disaster Area Designs I just received my 'midi baby 3'. (Already lost your gift-pick, damn) I'll be using it with my hx stomp. Do you have already any specific video with hx stomp? I haven't found it.. I watched a lot of basic instructions about midi, but I need one specifically with 'MBaby3' and hx stomp. Maybe some interesting suggestion how and what to program. I'm sure, that many people waiting for that!
I’d also like to see a video on what the functions of the editor do. For example, in this video, when you configured the long hold function, why controller 100? Why step 127? I am a midi noob so this seems presumptuous. I have had this pedal for two weeks now and still am just guessing at how to set it up to control a simple 4th switch on my HX Stomp.
We're covering them in each video, but in this case CC100 is "expression" for a lot of devices such as Strymon, Chase Bliss, Alexander. Commands for your specific device will be in its manual. We'll be happy to go over what the actions all mean in an upcoming video. Regarding the HX Stomp if you want to fire FS4, you'd check the manual for the HX Stomp to get that command - CC52. You can trigger it in a couple of ways, but I might recommend using the second option (Send PRESS messages on falling edge, RELEASE messages on rising edge.) Set the first message (PRESS) to CC Toggle / Ch1 / 52 / send single message / 127 Set the second message (RELEASE) to CC Toggle / Ch1 / 52 / send single message / 0 Write device and you should be done. Does the event (sorry for lack of a better term, web guy) only get sent on button up/release? I could see a problem with long hold if it calls the regular hold. Hope that makes sense. Basically, don't want to hit the 500ms action while waiting to get to the 2500ms action.
The hold and long-hold actions are sent while the button is still down. The hold action is always fired on the way to long-hold, so if you don't want it you can either add in a long hold action that *cancels* the hold action, or just don't use the long-hold.

Hello. I need help. I bought a Midi Baby for my Whammy V. I connected my Midi Baby to Mac to get the 1.3.4 update. I then connected it to my Whammy V can't get a single program change. How do I set it up?
I would like to know if it could be used to send sustain messages and act like a sustain pedal for synths that do not have a 1/4 in sustain port, but receive midi
Sure. Sustain is CC64, or sostenuto CC66, check which one your synth supports. Set the Baby to send message on press and release, and configure to send CC64 /127, CC64 /0 for press and release. That should do it, if your synth supports the normal commands.
StrangerDanger first up be sure to set “Skip USB Power Check” in your C4 settings. Next we have found that the C4 responds to MIDI CC more reliably than PC so try sending it CC104 / nn where nn is the preset number you want to load. Feel free to email for support through the website and we can take further troubleshooting steps.
I’m using CC commands on all 3 buttons of my MB3 to simply turn effects on & off, on my FM3, like a regular pedal. Is there a way to have the LED stay on when the effect is on and off when the effect is off?
Could you please make a video of the MIDI Baby being used with the TC Electronic Plethora X5? I would like to use it as an external way to toggle up and and down different pedalboards within the Plethora.
Plethora just needs program changes to move through boards, so MIDI Baby video #5 would probably get you there. Feel free to email our support folks for more help with that.

Suppose I have a looper pedal that doesn’t quantize, but it does take a remote stop/start switch. Can this be configured to start a looper on the first press and stop the looper on the first quarter or whole note after the second press? I have a DAD SMARTClock I’d be using to keep the tempo.
Disaster Area Designs ok. It’s not a complete deal breaker for me but it’s a hassle for me to get to a computer to reconfigure. If it was mobile I’d buy it sight unseen. Thx dude

You could, but you can also just use a tap tempo type footswitch (single or dual) to get 1 or 2 more button inputs. In fact, the Baby 3 has two jacks, each of which supports two extra buttons for a total of 7.
