I mean it was hardly going to burst into flames if I dropped it. It’s not made of petrol!
@@BudsRPGreview and it's the only way to actually use one whithout feeling guilty (except maybe in game to actually smoke)
When he did it, the top sheet is shiny, and had a tiny reflection of the flame, but at first it looked like a tiny spark had caused a small burn. I had second hand anxiety.
I've just started running the campaign and also got the prop set. It's really added to the immersion and the quality is superb
I've been wanting to run Masks for a long time, but my gaming group has been all booked up, running multiple games at least once every two weeks, for the last couple years, and I haven't managed to slip such a big campaign into the schedule, especially in person. This video has convinced me to redouble my efforts to convince them to make room for the campaign eventually, and to purchase the props to use when it finally happens. I normally wouldn't think it's worth the money, but the quality and number of the props is really impressive and seems like it'd really elevate the campaign into something memorable.
It's worth noting that there's also a cut down (but nonetheless of the same high quality) version of this prop set. It's basically a single folder of some of the documents from this box and it's bundled with the Dark Adventure Radio Theatre adaptation of Masks of Nyarlathotep. I once attempted to show its contents on my channel with somewhat mixed results.

@@BudsRPGreview On the other end of the price spectrum they used to have the limited edition which came with hand crafted artifacts like a statue of the Bloated Woman and ceremonial robes, but it's sold out by now.
I am planning to run Masks in about 8 months and am in the planning stages. I cant wait to purchase this prop box before we get started. So immersive.

I bought the prop set to run the campaign, and yes, it is absolutely amazing. The wax cylinder case looks exactly like the originals did. I even wondered if they just got a bunch of them in good condition and used them, but it does say "HPLHS" in one tiny spot on the label, so they had new ones made. Yes, it's expensive, but it's not cheap making things that look that authentic.
Once we're done with the campaign, I may offer it up for loan to other keepers.
It's one of those "expensive but worth it" kind of things.
