@@GingerMathematicianmy exam went quite well ! i had slight difficulty in a question from vectors (surprisingly, as vectors is my best topic) but otherwise i was able to solve all of the questions!

I really needed this! Tomorrow I my exam and I was told and taught this by my teacher a few days ago, but I never understood a single thing and didn't get the time to look into it due to other exams. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH! just pray that the exam is easy and I find the differentiation quest easy!

My god, this channel saved my life:). I study on IGSCe course in Russia and tomorrow there will be a unit assessment, if I would fail it I will be kicked out of school. But in this 40 minutes, I studied so much, that now I’m 100% sure that I will get good grade for those test! THANK YOU!!!

I've been going through past papers and I find it difficult when to identify a question is asking for differentiation because the wordings VERY different from my textbook questions :(( this video helped me grasp some sort pf understanding!!! thank you!! js one question, so when they ask us to find the coordinates of the turning point or two stationary points the gradient will ALWAYS be 0?

May I ask how would we know when to use the differentiated equation or the original equation when given example gradient at x = 4 / turning points or stationary points?
If they want the gradient at a specific point, always use the differentiated equation 🙂

Sorry for all the questions but how would we show the min and max points using gradients, logic, and sketching (like the markscheme said instead of the 2nd derivative)?
Also why did you write d^2y/dx^2 and not dy^2/dx^2?
You can just put in values into dy / dx and see how the gradient changes to work out a max or min 👍

Hi Mr. Ginger, thanks for the video as always. I have a question about the last question in the video. In my textbook of 0580, there doesn't seem to be second derivatives. Could you create a separate video explaining second derivatives?
You don't need second derivatives to identify maxima and minima but simpler than (in my opinion) to other methods on the course 🙂👍

Will there be questions that require us to prove the rules of derivatives using the limit definition of derivatives in IGCSE, or is it just differentiating directly? Because our school did not cover limits yet despite it being so helpful to understand derivatives.
Just differentiating directly - IB HL Analysis expects you to be able to differentiate from first principles... 👍

If x (x - 2) = 0, then one answer is x - 2 = 0, so x must be 2. So that is why a is positive and not negative 2 :-)

I watch all your videos but in the country I am in they are cutting off the internet too much, so I will have to rely on textbook. I recommend checking the Pearson website or contacting a reputable book retailer in the UK for the most up-to-date information on the latest edition of the textbook :-)

@16:20 sir why do we have to bend the curve,in a normal cubic curve it doesn’t bend
y = x^3 has no "bend" so to speak but most cubic graphs do have some kind of clear bend in the function
