Just chowing down on some of the essentials beef slices in gravy. 90p. The best thing about it is it comes in a tray rather than a bag which the beef slices in gravy usually does. Much easier to cook without needing a pan of water or risking it going all over the microwave. Makes good roast beef baguettes and then keep the gravy to dip the sandwich in. Also useful for someone on their own who wants a beef dinner but doesn't want to buy a beef dinner ready meal and wants to do the rest themselves. Nice handy way to do the beef for it.
@@JustDeano oh and try the chunky chicken if you haven't. It's in the same range and in the same place as this stew. It's like thick chicken soup with big chunks of chicken in. It's actually pretty good. £1.20 I think. You get a lot of chicken.
@@Matt19matt19 I've seen chicken in white sauce and could never picture it in a meal (maybe in a pie), but you recommend just scoffing it as is, like a thick soup?
@@JustDeano my gf has it with rice. It's one of her favourite quick can't be bothered meals. It makes more sense to mix it with pasta though but she has it with rice as microwave rice is cheap and readily available.. Me personally I just scoff it like soup.
Sounds good. I like Irish stew but been paying far more than that. Will have to try the yellow brands from Asda. Tesco are currently charging £1.85 for a can of Irish stew.

Have you tried the essentials cottage pie? Just had one for my tea and it really wasn’t too bad if you get past the strong smell when it’s turning in the microwave 😬

You have to remember it's in a tin and pretty cheap. So there will obviously be some compromises.
