Been enjoying your videos documenting injury recovery and I think you’ve prepared me to gracefully accept my injury. I’m 5 weeks out from my marathon but have a stress fracture in my right foot. I’ve never broken anything before. I’ve put a lot of work into training as everybody does but your attitude and approach to your injuries helped me just accept it with grace and not let it discourage or upset me. Thanks Seth!

I use and recommend Uniqlo .. super lightweight and very cheap .. for winter I have an Endomondo - super warm and water proof oh yeah its a cycling jacket - don't discount other sportswear for running especially cycling

I wear the Janji Rainrunner. I moved to SoCal right after I bought it and in the three years I’ve been here I’ve only used it a handful of times during the rain…BUT it has worked fantastically. I also use it as a windbreaker during the winter since the winds can get pretty gnarly. It layers beautifully and packs down easily.

For a wind breaker also a big fan of the Salomon FastWing love you can stow it in its own waist cuff. waterproof inov8 storm shell also have the elasticated cuffs with thumb holes.
Sugoi also makes lightweight running shells & jackets. I still have one that’s super light from maybe 10 years ago
I have a Nike windbreaker that I sprayed with water repellent to keep light rains off me. In the lower 40’s F I wear a Nike sweatshirt that has thumb-holes and the cuff can fold over your entire hand so you don’t need gloves. When it is below freezing I wear a soft shell jacket from Lululemon. I’ve been running in 10 F weather in that and my body stays warm.
I like the OMM Kamleika, as breathable as you’re going to get and a nice 4 way stretch
As you return to training it would be interesting to hear about what you might do differently or how you will approach this next training block… do your injuries tell you anything about your body that you need to take into account that you have not previously?
I love all the Montbell products (shell, synthetic insulated, down, etc.). Well built, reasonable price, and functional. Their motto is "Function is Beauty". Spot on! 🙂

Now I get the name. A tachyon (pronounced tackyon) is a hypothetical particle that goes so fast that its mass is imaginary (as in an imaginary number). Its purpose was probably to see how theoretical physics would break if a particle could go faster than the speed of light. Physicists took the greek word for swift and put an "on" at the end.
Good name for a running jacket.
I tried most of the flagship running jackets and the Gorewear R7 came out on top for me.

I've got a basic higher state jacket which does the job for a couple of hours of rain but is pretty clammy and not the best. Certainly need to get an upgrade so may look at the Salomon
I wear a florescent yellow light zipup shell with venting in the back from Hind (I think I bought it more than 10 tears ago at Marshall's). When it's rainy, I wear a Frog Tog jacket .

QOD: My favorite fall running jacket is my Nike windbreaker. I forget the model but it’s almost see through it is so light and thin. It stops the wind and because I burn hot it allows me to regulate my body temperature well.
Good review. I've got the Solomon and just be careful with very light jackets - they can rip so so easily.
For colder/wetter/windier weather:
#1 LAYERS: I always rely on layered clothing even when it's not super cold,
#2 for very wet weather my 'go-to' are Showers Pass jackets that are popular in cycling,
#3 VENTILATING: for windy days I use cross-country ski jackets from Craft or Bjorn Daehlie with front chest wind protection plus good venting on my back to remove excess body heat. You don't want hypothermia.

Salomon Agile. Sized down. Great jacket, simple but has the necessities. Hood and two zippered pockets.
My favorite was Ronhill Trail Tempest but sadly no longer available. I'm now using a Montane Ultra Stretch which is almost as good but hood lack of rear hood cinch and whistle stop it being as good
Any plans for race footage for the PP ascent and marathon this year as a spectator? Hope your recovery is on track.
More for winter, 25 mph: Marmot PreCip Stretch. Mid-priced. Has underarm zippers for venting & temperature control. I tuck the hood inside the collar when running into the wind
Take a look at the Utimate Direction rain jacket, approved for UMTB, fully water and wind proof w/ gloves, it very breathable.
I run too hot to wear waterproof or even really water resistant jackets unless it is really really really raining. Typically I use long sleeve t-shirts of a variety of brands. I will say that I have a under armor cold weather long sleeve that has a hood and a built-in mask. I forget the name but you can easily find it on their website. Expensive but very good

Switching to the rain jacket when it is starting to get a bit wet.

Check out the rain jacket from Harrier Run Free. It is super breathable and waterproof!
Seth one of my biggest pet peeves with clothing/jackets are bad cuffs on sleeves. It drives me crazy when try on a great jacket and the cuffs are to loose or wide. Needs tighter elastic or adjustable to tighten them.

I like my craft lumen hydro hooded jacket. But I need it to actually be cold to wear it and a jacket in general. Moved from Missouri to North Carolina and the weather is pristine almost all year.
Mountain hardware has amazing winter coats so that windbreaker may be amazing.
So my go to jacket for any season has recently become the Ron hill and mountain equipment shake dry goretex jacket breathable and very waterproof 😊

QD: I'm not sure the model names, but my two favorite jackets are a windbreaker and a light jacket by Brooks, there from before the pandemic. And actually most of the time I don't wear a running jacket I wear a vest. So I have three vests the three different weights, and generally what I will wear under them is a long sleeve light Jersey. I found by doing that I sweat weigh less in the winter and fall.
Seconded! I use an old 1/4-zip Brooks wind breaker. At 90 grams, it does the job nicely.

I’m usually cold but when I run, only my hands are cold. I could be in a tshirt and shorts in 32 degrees, as long as I’ve some nice warm gloves!

Hi, if you want a lighter jacket you have the Z-Packs Ventum it weigth 45grs. I really like the Houdini jacket from Patagonia too, and the North face lightriser or Salomon shakedry when the temperature drops bellow -10 degres
Can you share your experience with the North Face Flight Lightriser Wind Jacket, please?
@@henya2409 I used it mostly for skimountainering during the winter, it's strong enough to handle the wind and the cold during the downhill. Even when it's -25 Degres.And it's lighter and more packable than a big alpine jacket. Not really breathball when you run, when the condions are reaaly bad i prefer the shakedry from Salomon.
I don't use jacket on that temperatures, only below -1c. Good t-shirt and RUN :) On rainy and cold days Asics Ventilate Jacket
Good morning from Arizona. 74 degrees.
I burn super hot unless it is below freezing outside. But I'd rather be slightly colder than hotter as I don't sweat, I drip and pour.
Wow.... those temps are a bit warm for me for a jacket. If it isn't raining or really windy, I wouldn't use one. I have 2 that I use when the temp dips. I have a lulu lemon running jacket that is great against the wind and can handle some really light rain if pressed. The best thing about it is its relatively snug fit with stretchy material. That way it is not flapping around in the wind creating extra resistance. I also have a Running Room (Canadian in-store brand) jacket that is better in the rain and when it gets colder. It comes with a zip-off hood that has a built in balaclava if that's your thing. (It is not mine). The sleeve cuffs are really good. They have an underlay cuff that is stretchy and tight around the wrist. For colder days when gloves are needed, the underlay can go inside the glove and then the overlay part goes over the glove keeping a nice sealed fit. It also has great back vents to allow for cooling. I have used this jacket down to -20 (with layers) and up to between 5 and 10 celsius if raining with a really light layer underneath and shorts. I get a bit warm on those days but stay dry.
I bought the balaclava jacket last winter for those days with -20 to -30C windchill. 😨 It worked great and is very comfortable.
@@davidgross7972 I used it, and a few more layers, at the WCQ games in Edmonton against Costa Rica and Mexico last November.... the Mexico game had windchill of -16 to -20 and the seats were covered in snow...... with the help of a pile of hotshot handwarmers I stayed relatively warm and that jacket kept the wind out.... much tougher to stay warm when you are sitting and standing in a grand stand than if you are out for a run...😏
Won't consider wearing a jacket until the wind chill gets below freezing. Otherwise, I'll layer with softer garments. Compression base layer, tech tee, and 1/4 zip mid layer. I burn hot, so it's easier to take off layers and still stay dry.
is Golite out of Boulder still in business? I have a very lite orange windbreaker that is great!

sorry Seth but the adidas Terrex Agravic Pro Rain.RDY Trail Jacket I have is 7.1 oz and it's waterproof and windproof. So I guess technically that would be the lightest windbreaker.
