Don’t be worried about that! I still like parts of the DSMP series, and follow a few artists on tumblr because their art is gorgeous. If you still have a passion for it and want to make your own content, go ahead and do it just for yourself
Fair enough there are definitely people on the internet who are just deliberately rude or assume that liking “bad” media makes you a bad person, or you condone harmful actions of the creators/fans (obviously it doesn’t, and it’s why having media literacy skills are so important)

7:23 Yeah, that's a mood. I made a Minecraft sona sometime around Summer 2020 and while I adore her, she's not 'me'; which I think comes from me recycling her for a DnD character and trying to give her a story/lore, both for DnD and her original purpose as a Minecraft character.

Roblox to gacha to irl oc pipeline fr. I have only a handful of ocs that haven’t spawned out of some kind of dress up mechanic (including an item ghost character) like my current persona. But I lover her, she taught me my love of bugs and orange, and I wouldn’t have my corner of online friends without her!

no stop i remember when i had a dsmp phase and i also had my sona based on sad-ist 😭😭 she had a mask that had spider eyes and wore a purple turtle neck with grey sweat pants, i ended up giving her so much lore that she ended up turning into an oc and not the sona that i wanted her to be. She had a good concept that i think i can fix it if i worked on it but i dont want to cause she reminds me of those times 💀

I drew my first persona a while ago, and I literally just drew my favourite things to draw when it comes to character design (one big eye, the body and hair being like one thing, many colours, a long stem + leaf on the head, that stuff) and then just gave it my name and poof sona ✨✨

I have a very silly issue. Yours was that: serious didn't work because it was too much, normal didn't work because its just you, and it was solved by goofiness. But my problem is weird where, I always go with normal because I just genuinely love myself. And trying to add anything at all is tricky because I've already made myself the easily recognizable, unique person. But then what do I even add?! I almost wonder if I've already turned myself into a persona of myself, and that's where my issue is. I love clothes and hair and express my over the top aspects of myself in my appearance already. But if there was anything better to use to show the world something about me, it would already be on me. It's such a weird problem.

Yes!! I also went through a bunch of personas before landing on my little carton box persona that I have has for like 3 years now and learned that I just wanted a silly little thing to draw when im bored in different outfits.

I def had a gacha phase too, but it was way back in gacha studio. It was kinda fun at the time for my lil child self, and yeah I'm not planning to change my persona yet but it does help! I used to build up lore and such for my persona she just ended up being her own character, my current ones the only one that stuck, also the one who's just straight up silly :3

What helped me was to make my Sona have characteristics that I like, that it is easy to draw and does not have many details (since it is usually easy to forget them). I also did not put a story since it is like my moldable dough (Sorry if it is not written well, I use a translator since my English is bad)
It took me a very long time to design my persona after discontinuing one of my ocs who served as a persona, but all i did was listen to one song, draw something to go with it, and boom!!! Character in the drawing became my official persona after i realized that they represent me more than any oc i created!! :D

Haven’t watched the full video yet, but I really want to say-
It’s okay to be cringe and feel embarrassed, but don’t put yourself down like that, it’s a harmful mentality that can lead to just general self hate. You enjoyed that stuff before, and even if you don’t now, you don’t have to put yourself down to seem less cringe to others. It can kill your passion for things you like now- because you’re worried about being weird or cringe. It’s growth that we all go through, and you don’t have to hate yourself for it.
For a while, i had a lot of trouble making a persona to represent myself. I technically already had one, but they weren’t an accurate representation of myself in any way. After a while of trying to come up with something, and failing miserably, i went and took a look at how i usually draw myself for inspiration.
I’ve always drawn myself with certain details, like short brown hair and red eyes. So i just took those traits, added a few things I thought looked cool, made the design consistent, and suddenly i had a persona that more accurately represented me.
Im still gonna use my previous persona as a mascot for my art, but with an updated design that better reflects me.
Had to know that I wasn’t the only one with a dream phase and made a persona with a dream mask 😭 I’m hoping to create a persona that really fits me and I had the same experience when creating my old OCs. As cool as they were they were never really me. They all represent a part of me but were so different! I’m definitely going to try and go down a silly route with my next persona!! :DD
I think this video found me. I’ve been contemplating for the past 2 weeks now drawing my new persona character. Mine used to be a furry humanoid bunny girl that looked like me. But I stopped resonating with her. I would love to restart and make a new one! A persona who looks like me, easy to draw, has my sense of style, and maybe the same personality too. I was thinking about Making a Wrathful Poltergeist-Kitsune Hybrid for my Persona, it makes sense for me cause Growing up I had alot of Paranormal Experiences and On top of that I tend to Hold Grudges when Angered so Letting go is a Really hard thing for me and then I love Japanese Yokai stories and most of my Favs involve the Nine tail fox or Kitsune Shapeshifter just Always Seemed a Fun Ability but I Also I tend to Get Bored with just one choice or there are too many good choices and I can't choose one.
How I made my persona: I wanted a vtuber model, not done making it. Could not decide on an animal. I own like a week's worth of pirate clothes IRL and thought "might as well be a pirate:." And then I drew myself as a pirate in my favorite patterns and colors. I at no point have invented a story for her because its like.. a selfsona. Always figured the difference was that a selfsona was a self insert in art but way cooler.
I have a few OC's and honestly.. I struggle making cool stories for them if there isn't supplemental content outside of just drawing that I am using them for.
This really helped me I’m excited to re-draw my mascot!💖🥰😩

I used to make my sonas looks good. But they all turned into an oc. My current sona that has been with me for a year already is just straight up bald.
I realized recently that whenever I depict myself, instead of drawing my sona I end up drawing a scuffed version of myself. And I realized it was because I gave my sona too much lore, she became her own character rather than a representation of me.
I'm currently making a new sona, and she's not gonna get any lore, she's just gonna be me :]
Omg, I did the same! :D there was a sona I made that was meant to exist to represent me, but I started giving her lore. She's sort of her own character now, even though she's still like me in some ways

Lesson of the Day: Don't take your doodles seriously. I love it. I've been trying to be more patient with my art lately, and I've learned when you don't take them so seriously it takes off a lot of the pressure of coming up with ideas. That, and you leave room for it to turn into something a bit more serious later if that's what you'd like! i went through a dsmp phase too which lead to my first sona who was an enderman with a green and purple eye but now shes evolved into now my amazing kitsune sona who is basically the same just a kitsune now but shes got lore now‼️
..theres no actual help on how to make a personal persona??? this is just a story of how you made your personas. i dont get the point of naming the video like that when thats not what it is /nm(please don't delete my comment, i'm not hating.)
- If you struggle connecting to your persona, don't take it too serious, you can make it goofy
- If you are on the more lazy side, you don't even have to make them colorful. Limited color palletes are a godsend
- Take one aspect and make that the "focus". For her, she wanted teeth to be the main aspect, and it grew into her persona
- Don't try to overcomplicate the persona with lore that isn't you since it may cause you to disconnect to them

I always adored people who had sonas and I really want an oc that represents me but no success in 2 years
The first idea was an oc named Paprika which is where I got the idea for my channel name but ironically the username felt more like me than my oc(first username I could keep for even 6 months let alone 2 years)
There is one oc I really love enough to make her my sona but it wouldn't feel right as I prefer to keep her a regular oc, and she looks nothing like me, but I never liked ocs that looked even a little like me for some reason :p
I'm sure I'll figure it out though, and this video is so fun to watch👍

I genuinely cannot understand the concepts of sona's, or how you can feel that you've offended/harmed these fictional characters you've created who literally cannot think-
issues with attachment and high empathy will do that to you haha
For me the process of creating my persona was the opposite, I had to go into a more serious direction, but now that I've created my persona which I deeply resonate with I can draw him goofy style as well lmao
My first sona had rainbow hair and was a unicorn cat hybrid, i drew every of my characters with black jumpers and trousers

The "I could draw this in 10 minutes" is so relatable. I liked making my personas so detailed, to the point I wouldn't have the motivation to draw it all! Now I just have a lil deer girl as my sona, who I can easily draw in minutes. Even though I'm lazy I never lose motivation to draw her

This actually inspired me to scrap my current Sona (A completely too much oc named Snod that kinda was forced on me by my friends) and Simplify down to a little silly monkey guy.
Honestly i used to keep my persona’s accurate to how I look. I cut my hair so I had to update my gacha icon. Issue is that I figured the new outfit I made was… pretty much ‘beginner’ in my opinion. So I changed it and now the only changes she goes trough is clothes. Sometimes her hair is more poofy or spiky, but that’s it.
I've always liked drawing mascots more than personas. But my actual persona has always just been some black guy in a jacket
