Been waiting for this one,, awesome footage Ethan good work mate.
Thanks man!! Just wait till the Yorkes Classic Comp đ
The force is strong in this one, learning the ways of the pranger he is. As someone else has already said, load the shaft back into the gun and fish are super easy to kick off the spear. Just remember to dispatch it properly or string it before kicking it off the spear. Also if you're allowed, swim on tip of your float like a body board. A mate of mine here calculates a 2km swim like this to take 45 minutes.
Hahaha yep Iâve started doing that now and itâs a lot easier đ Did you ever used a pranger? Unfortunately it was against the comp rules to use your float as a body board đ
@@EthanYeo1 I used a pranger for years. Shot all sorts of things with it. Grassy emperors, coral trout, big cod etc.
Nice nice! What made you stop using it now?
@@EthanYeo1 cost was a big one and also taking longer shots on thicker set fish like job fish. I have always used them in competitions in Sydney and the Central Coast in the late 2000's. Fantastic for flathead and I'll love to throw one at a halibut one day.
Ahh fair enough! Yesss I would love to see you hunt halibut with a big heavy pranger, but just make sure Joose doesnât use it this time đ
Awesome vid ethan !!!đ€đđ
Thanks mate đ
The squid shot was đ„ Great spearcraft đđŒ
Love the meme references
Haha glad you do bro đ
Pretty cool how you baited and shot the squid! Never seen that before haha, keen for part 2
Haha yeah itâs a cool trick that someone showed me! It also works for snook and a few other species :)
Killed it sniper boy!
Great video mate - keen for part 2!
Thanks for watching mate :)
Good stuff Ethan! Keep it up đ
Bloody awesome video mate! Looking forward to part 2 đ„
Thanks for watching Nick!! đ
Great vid as always
Thanks for watching man đ
Love it Ethan. Nice one.
Thanks Bill, how awesome is KI đ
Keep on going brother youâre doing so well man! Proud to see x
Thanks bro, that means a lot to me! We gotta catch up soon â€ïž
Awesome video mate
Thanks mate!
Good job Ethan. I swim on my back when tired. Seems to be faster and easier. Glad to see you back mate, always love the vids and good luck.. Peace brother.
Thanks PG!! I was tempted to do that but didnât want to miss out on any fish đ
Good job bro!
Thanks for watching man!
What a awesome looking place to dive.
It truly is, one of my favourite places to dive now!
Hi..ethan..đđđđ
Im...from...mizoram.peaceđđ„đ„đ
When getting your pranger out of the fish try loading the shaft into the gun before pushing the fish off with your fins.
Heeeesssss back! Cracking Video Ethan, aka the rule breaker! The day before the comp you broke all the asterix rules to get it out of your system right? Harlequin fish, Nani, what a feed! Are the Western Blue grouper protected over there out of interest? Well done on Day 1 of the comp, remember you can get out of the water and walk back - can sometimes be way quicker. FWIW, With a pranger, I have always aimed to hit the fish just behind to the pectoral fin and up to the dorsal fin. Usually stones the fish and avoids gut shots and head shots. Loved the video, loved the laughs! Cheers for sharing the fun, Dive safe!
Thanks Dave!! Haha well honestly I only just found out what the asterisks next to the fish meant after I was uploaded this video, as I shot 2 boarfish during the comp when apparently youâre only allowed to take one đŹ With blue grouper theyâre protected in most areas, however youâre allowed to take them on the south side of Kangaroo Island (we were diving the north) and also from Port Lincoln all the way to the border of WA I think, but youâre only allowed to shoot them between 60-100cm. Unfortunately the spot where we were diving was right along the cliffs so I couldnât have walked đ Alright Iâll try that next time cause normally I just aim for the head đ
Letâs go
haha sick floatboat , is a chill bag necessary for long comps?
Cheers Keith! I wouldnât say necessary but definitely does help keep your fish that little bit fresher đ
Great video mate, what brand of float is that you use? Cheers.
Thanks mate! It's this one from Wettie NZ - www.wettie.co.nz/products/floats-lines/floats/float-boat/
Nice đđœ
Thanks bro!
Good job brođđżđđ»đźđ©
Thanks for watching man đ
Good job! My dad got a squid spearfishing on Easter, only 1 but that was only fishy he shot at so pretty good đ¶đ„°
Thanks bro! Thatâs awesome, squid is delicious hey đŠ
@@EthanYeo1 I loves squid đŠ they try bite me if I sniffs them tho đ đ¶
Wicked videos mate, love the channel.
SA and young n keen noob spearo myself, do you run a shark band or a shark shield when you are diving ?
Cheers Matthew, always loving receiving comments like this đ Yes I run a shark shield đ
Legend mate thanks for the info. Keep smashing it everyone loves the content. Might see you at a comp one day đȘđŒ
@@matthewtimperon9771 no worries man, always happy to help! You should jump on facebook and join the Gulf Skindivers SA spearfishing club đ
Amazing! I have been spear fishing around Victor Harbour. How do you keep your breath soo long underwater?
Thanks for watching Chris! Practice and time in the water đ
Great video, getting back into my spearfishing after a few years on the pine. Your videos have made me want to get back in the water. Just wondering what weight belt system you are using, have been lookig at a full harness but thinking it might be a little excessive. Cheers
Thatâs awesome Rowan, thatâs so great to hear!! In this video I was just using a weight belt but have recently started diving with a harness, as I find it really helps me take some of the weight off my lower back đ
@@EthanYeo1 thanks mate. Yeh think it's going to be worth the investment. Will be purchasing a 5mm wetsuit soon, probably go with torelli. And think I'm going to need the extra weight with that. What thickness wetsuit are you diving with in the cooler months.
@@rowangill5249 Definitely, especially if you plan to dive often! Awesome, I really rate the torelli wetsuits, as they're heaps comfortable, correct the thicker the wetsuit the more weights you'd need. Majority of the year I use a 5mm, but in peak summer if it's a hot day I'll use a 3mm and in winter I wear my 5mm bottoms with a 7mm top đ
@@EthanYeo1
Awesome, thanks for the advice. If you are ever planning a trip to wardang island or port victoria let me know. That's my area, will try and put you onto some decent reef and wrecks.
ethan can u please do a hand spear video
Awesome video Ethan, you always do such engaging vids. Just FYI that was a tommy ruff, not a salmon trout you shot and fed the squid. Black tips on the tail and large eye the giveaway. Well done mate.
Thanks a lot mate! That really means a lot to me, as Iâve been focusing lately on editing all the unnecessary footage out of my videos to make them as engaging as possible đ
@@EthanYeo1 you're doin a great job, but you're also just such a nice and honest bloke, people love that!
Thank you so much bro! Reading this seriously made my day â€ïž
Would you say a float boat is essential in SA to not attract unwanted attention
Wouldnât say itâs essential but would recommend it!
Also, what do you do about the potential of sharks?
I guess itâs a risk that us spearos take when we enter the water, however it is very unlikely to come across a bronzie and even rarer to encounter a white! Iâve probably done over 300 dives and only ever seen 1 bronzie and that was cause I was jumping in on a bait ball.
Is it quite safe to dive on your own out kangaroo? Certainly seem like you didnât see any unwanted characters
It depends how comfortable you are in the water and how comfortable you are around sharks. Personally I wouldnât but I know if guys that have dived solo there. Fair decent chance youâll encounter bronzies but quite rare youâll come across a white imo
Make sure your diving safe man, you guys were pretty far away from each other
Ethan mate how you doing?
Yooo whatâs up bro! Howâs your layups going?
But isn't this a bit unfair? With you in the competition the others obviously don't stand a chance đŻđđ
Hahahaha yeah no one else stood a chance at coming last đ đ
@@EthanYeo1 you might not have won a trophy, but you've won our hearts
11:31 poor fish
Youâre poor!
