    Open back, the Sennheiser drop PC38X is my go to. Open back is my preferred choice.
    If close back is needed to not disturb anyone around me or to block out outside noise, the Sennheiser epos H6 Pro what I reach for.

    this is my first pair of open back headphones after only ever using closed back. Really like the non-compressed feeling during conference calls. the only downside to the Open back version is the ear pads they use. I much prefer the ear pads from the closed back, so I ordered a replacement pair of the closed back to use on my open back. And they fit no problem. the feel is now perfect and also it stays clearer. the felt ones get dirty fast. However they can be cleared easily.

    switched to these after using the arctis pro wireless for about 2 years. still getting used to the open version of the headset but I like to hear whats happening around me while maintaining great sound quality. Yet to try gaming with these but loving them so far

      how well does it compare the the arctis pro?

    • @aleksei8884
      @aleksei8884 Před rokem +9

      @@yarmgl1613 Well I gotta say the sound quality on the Artcis was slightly better, and the wireless feature of the Arctis were awesome, great connectivity, even over longer distances, never had any issues. Arctis also had more of a "premium" feel to them. And the feature of being recognized as two separate outputs where you could have discord/music playing through one and a game through the other was interesting but I never really used it. I have only used my Arctis with my PC but it could be a big deal being able to connect it to two different devices (for example a phone for communication and the game on your console at the same time)
      That being said, I love the H6Pro's simplicity, they just get the job done, they are lighter and have a bigger ear cup which I appreciate, no discomfort while wearing glasses whatsoever even over long periods. So I prefer them in terms of comfort. If I had to choose between the two I would personally go for H6Pros. Trying out the Arctis was great, but the docking station (which was fun at first) just kind of takes up space on the desk. and I find out that I really don't need all those extra features of the Arctis which were a bit of an overkill for me, and I can live without the wireless connection. And in terms of the sound quality, the Arctis may be slightly better, but I have never felt like I'm missing out, the H6pros still provide a great sound in movies, music and gaming and for a lower price.
      I enjoy their easy plug-in and play character which is all I really look for in a headset these days.

    • @TheBucketOfTruth
      @TheBucketOfTruth Před rokem +1

      @@boogie4195 PC38X no question. I'll copy paste a longer comment I posted elsewhere: I had a set of Astros that broke and was in the market for another set of gaming headphones. I picked up the Drop+EPOS PC38X and then got a pair of these to compare to them. the H6Pro doesn't hold a candle to the PC38X in terms of detail and accuracy. Seems like the soundstage is much less wide, while it has more bass it is often muddier depending on what you're listening to. If you listen to music at all it's a complete no brainer toward the PC38X. I will say though that the H6Pro really has a quite premium feel to it from a build standpoint vs the more studio/professional grade feel of the Drop set. So credit where it's due. The H6Pro also might be the most comfortable headset I've ever tried on. Those huge, deep, ear shaped cups are just so great. But it seems I'm a velour or nothing guy because even the cloth on the H6Pro heated up for me too much after a while. The clamping force is much less than the PC38X as well. I feel like my ears just barely fit within the cups on the PC38X (and I don't even have large ears). I honestly wish I could just have H6Pro headphones (but with velour cups) that sound like the PC38X do because it might be the best of both worlds.
      If you are buying headphones that will be for gaming, watching movies, listening to music, etc. as an all-in-one for your device, I'd say it's not even close and the PC38X blows the H6Pro away. But audio is also a very subjective thing which is why people audition loudspeakers. All of our ears and brains are different. Bottom line is that save for very specific audio that you want to be very bass focused, there are better options out there for your money. To me it seems like the money went into design here with the sound lacking whereas that PC38X the money went into the sound and the design is very utilitarian as a result. So pick your priority.

      @@boogie4195 Can you get it from Amazon? The black one is $139 right now from them or Drop. The Yellow one is $119 on Drop's site, though it's a bit uglier. I will say the H6Pro is gorgeous but like I said, the sound is much more important for me than the look. The PC38X may be less comfortable depending on your needs. I like the velour as mesh and fake leather get way too hot on my ears. The cups on the H6 are nicer though like I mentioned. The PC38X has a bit more clamping force I think, but I've been told that you can get that to mellow out by putting it on a headphone stand or yoga block or something for a while. It isn't enough to bother me over multiple hour gaming sessions.

      I had the GSP670 and they were terrible. Too bulky, too top heavy and super uncomfortable for me. They actually broke less than a year of ownership and I returned them for something else (two year warranty). They sounded fine and mic was good but heaps of interference and cut outs. A lot of manufacturers are moving away from the super wide frequency resonse measurement as it doesn't really shows anything about sound quality as long as the frequency is a better range than human hearing. Human hearing is typically 20 - 20.000 Hz. (Most adults cant hear higher than 17kHz), so the question is.. Sound quality should instead be measured in how well it plays in the frequency range.

      The H6pro has very poor quality sound - especially if you have experienced products like the DT1770 Pro. Listening to music on the H6pro is not good as the cartoonish bass bleeds through the entire mix - sounding like a speaker with a blanket or rug thrown over it. if you like lots of compression and slow flabby bass though you might like them - but I can't imagine anyone who owns DT1770 Pro's being in that camp.
