Been planting a small food forest. Only growing what will grow without help from me. Much of what I grow feeds the critters. My land was basically a clay gravel lot had 30 cars parked on it. Had little to no top soil now much has 12 inchs of soil. All I did was let nature fix it. Only took 7 years.
It takes much less time for vacant land to be covered with invasives. For most of the Eastern USA leaving disturbed land alone leads to nothing desirable, whether you are a man, insect, bird or a beast.
Whoa u a developer??
Thank you so very much for sharing your wisdom. 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Such wisdom. I am working on the needs vs wants. Do I really need 8 types of basil and more chickens? 😂
Hahaha, I realized early on when asking myself did I need to plant 600 row feet of zucchini!
Lol! I felt this. Do I HAVE to have every variety of fruit on my 1/2 acre property?
Thank you, I believe your message is needed at this time of insanity in our world.
Absolutely!
I live in a city box with clay soil which I continue to add new each year which gives me alot of food at times with some passed around. Trying to do better as the years go along!
3rd ethic was originally return of surplus to the system from which it came, fair share/sharing surplus will diminish any system
I love the presentation/teaching style. Great explanation of the ethics!
Glad you liked it!
sharing is caring !
Thanks for the video. I appreciate the passion and knowledge you show. I think as a society that we haven't even reached the level of sustainability considering that most of our produce is grown with the aid of chemicals made from fossil fuels and hauled around the planet.
Would it be possible for you to post a link to the document mentioned in the video? Much appreciated.
Well said! We are faaarrr from sustainable.
The sustainability seems to be a pedantic point. Relabeling to regeneration is a great point/ethic
Hi Stefan, I love what you do, and recently bought the Permaculture Orchard video. May I ask, you say you use 6mm plastic mulch, do you mean 0.6mm? Also, do you find that slugs hide beneath the plastic? Thank you.
It’s actually 4 mil or 4 thousandth of an inch thick.
Yes slugs can hide under it but so do worms, ants, ground beetles, snakes, salamanders … a whole ecosystem under there.
@@StefanSobkowiak thank you. According to Google, four thousandths of an inch equates to 0.102mm.
4mm would be the thickness of what we call in England “a Canadian frying steak” 😀
@@StefanSobkowiak Thank you for replying.
Masterclass for $2500? Wow, great care of the people indeed
No wedding band?
Haha someone noticed, my finger was swollen and I could barely get it off.
Stefan, I am a permaculture practitioner and have been for about 25 years. I have learned much from you and greatly admire your work. However, I must disagree with your concept of "sustainable" as it applies to Permaculture or ecological management. The term absolutely does not mean stagnant or static. A sustainable solution to an environmental problem - because living systems evolve - usually involves introducing several dynamic processes. It is trendy these days to trash the term, but it was good enough for Bill Mollison the co-creator of Permaculture.
"Permaculture is a design system for creating sustainable human environments." - Bill Mollison
"The tragic reality is that very few sustainable systems are designed or applied by those who hold power." - Bill Mollison And there are many more quotes from Bill about sustainability.
Yes you’re right about how Bill used it and few people use his meaning.
Unfortunately I've noticed a distinct lack of observation of ethical guidelines in many involved in the business of permaculture.
