Don't be afraid of destroyed land. You can build soil you can remove pavement or grow on top of it in container's. If you cant find an ideal location make an ideal location by restoring an environment, All around us is damaged land and it can be cheap. Took nature with a wee bit of help 5 years to create soil on a graveled parking lot.

it is what we do, we got 171 acres of fresh chopped land with partly wetland and conservation zoning. but the terrain is cool for permaculture, so we will build up soil over time... and we know it is a lifetime project. 💚

When I bought my retirement property back in 1993, I was mocked because it was mostly ravine running mostly east and west. I had been on a gentle south facing slope with a private cove on a LARGE lake. It had beautiful views, but I learned that if you have a view, they have a view of you, too; we had problems with thieves coming in from the lake, taking whatever, and escaping untraceably. The well was 650’ into sulfur water at 6 gallons/minute. The area was becoming swallowed by the expanding urban growth. I wanted plenty of good water and privacy. I have not only them but at least one zone of difference between the ridge top and the ravine bottom with a multitude of microclimates. I’m not planning to farm but I’m planning to plant as much variety of edible and/or useful permaculture as possible, and I have 100 acres to play with. This is my retirement project and I expect it will occupy the rest of my life. 😁

Good for you and it will add years of healthy life to your life. Water is so under appreciated as a source of health, good water is a gift from nature.

I love your ability to present the information. I think you do amazing for real. I feel like youtube and others putting an overemphasis on the constant gesturing really takes away from your natural and intuitive way of presenting though. I see it on your face and body and i think you do a masterful job of keeping it going still. I see it over all of youtube and as a highly intuitive person myself, i find the moments of true facial expressions and natural gesturing to be such a delight, and thats definitely something i do see you doing, my comment is just an up in the air one in general. That said, love your stuff, plan to buy information from you, as your wisdom overflows and i am grateful to be able to receive some of it. Thank you.

Thank you. Information is conveyed in many ways but body language can be information rich. The key is to know what your best way of learning is and to learn in that way.

The orchard property of my dreams: Barren land (either totally overfarmed dead soil, or something like an expired oil rig area, that is in desperate need of healing. I want to create a food forest there; a somewhat-natural sanctuary for the local animals as well. I say "somewhat" because it's not just going to be local species of plants. For example, if I end up doing this in the desert of Arizona, I would want to bring in tropical plants as well (I've been saving mango seeds, date seeds, all sorts of plants that would probably need extra water). And speaking of water, one of my first priorities would be to create a greywater filter system, so I can re-use the water from the house (biodegradable soap, like with laundry and from the shower).
The house itself can be tiny. Phoenix, AZ, seems to have a trend of "giant house, tiny yard," and I want the opposite. I'd be happy in a house that's the size of a 1-bedroom apartment (with a neat little patio area for my cat). It's the yard I want to be huge. It's weird-I want privacy and distance from neighbors, yet at the same time I want to create an atmosphere where others might be welcome. Say I have 40 acres of land: along the roadside, maybe there would be a school bus stop area where the kids normally get on the busses. I imagine me planting an oak seed that grows in the perfect spot to provide shade for the future kids of the neighborhood, along with a little tire swing or bench on the edge of my property, for them to sit. Sometimes I imagine creating all of this in Arizona, and other times I wonder about doing it in Japan, like maybe in the Fukushima area or just some area where Earth is begging for a forest to be created.
I imagine setting up a little "fruit stand" by the spot where the driveway meets the road. "Apples and pears are ready today! Feel free to take some, if you want!" (What? For free? YES! I just like giving to others; it's been in my personality for years. Giving is how I show affection towards friends, for example).
I can imagine the forest eventually being so amazing that it can take care of itself, and maybe Earth herself will sprout up a tiny spring or stream along one side (I saw a video where this happened in someone's garden where they created a forest and a stream just kind of started flowing through the forest many years later. I think it was in Africa somewhere? Or China?)
I'm also into esoteric stuff, so I imagine a deep, light-filled spiritual vibe in the forest. I'd get a Native American flute and play it for the animals. I wish we didn't have taxes and mortages; I just want my "job" to be a caretaker of the forest, where I have time to sit and "be" with the plants; even scientific experiments are starting to show that plants can react positively to certain people or emotions. Speaking of science, in my dream of my future land I also picture a small cottage on the property where grad school biologists can stay and study the wildlife (this would be like 30-50 years down the road, probably) and they'd find life that science previously declared extinct.
Sorry for the long post! I just felt like sharing.

Spent some time looking up organic certifications and different organizations that do organic certifications. I have 15 kinds of berries, and fruit trees wild. I can't have animals because predators, but have wild animals. It came with friendly wild honey bees. Working on identifying best places and patches on the property that blueberries, raspberries, thimble berries, currants, and so many other berries grow. I have cherries every where plus service berries. Which look a lot like cherry trees. There are all kinds of little apple orchards all over the U.P. The thimble berries, currants, gooseberries like the lower lands better than the ridge. Also have mushrooms too. 10 acres for 15k the spring we found walking it really sold me. I put down a 20 foot point well and it flows. We are build a cottage on the ridge. We have been mixing domestic straw berries and asparagus in with the wild strawberries. It great hunting. Just trying to make better habitat. Planted bur oak and scarlet oak. Also use acorns for bait. I have enough maples to make syrup too. I need a sugar shack. And a horticulture shack for propagation. In case someone likes ugly heirloom apples. Or a pear tree grafted to a service berry. My solution to having pears hopefully it survives the winter.

Sounds like a great project. Great price and 10 acres is more than enough for most people.

Hello, I have a test for you.
In many of your videos there are such homemade things on apple trees, yellow and white and some other kind of livestock....
I want to ask you to teach us how to prepare these things, or if there is already a video about them, can you indicate?
I also wanted to say thank you for the weight of information you gave me....
