Today we are taking a look at a Foxwell professional scanner that allows you scan any and all modules on pretty much any car. Is this a good scanner for your car? Is it worth the $200 and what are the limitations? I answer all of these questions and show you how to use the device.

@@bigtimeify hi. Have you done any downloads for the vehicle or vehicles that you are trying to scan? First thing you need to do is to make sure is up-to-date with the latest version and then you can start searching for the vehicles that you want to be in your scanner. You'll need a pc and u should have all the USB cable and memory card. Good 👍 and I hope this helps.

Are you able to do a parameter reset on immobilizers on this? I have a faulty PCM that I have to change on my car and keep putting it off because I know I have to do a reset on the immobilizer which I currently can't do with my NT604

Will it scan all switches to see if they are operating correctly, such as if a cruise control switch is on/off?

Can this scanner perform a DSG reset on a VW CC?
Does fault then click then the next shows codes and next to it says not ran . That means that part is at fault ? Also I only get 2 codes for powertrain . But when I drive with it plugged in drive 7 house's down than back I have 10 codes ? Is that because it got new data while driving?

Does this unit show live fuel trims for monitoring lean and rich conditions? For diagnosing vacuum leaks for example.
Yes, it does. That’s under standard OBD2 functions, live data.
What is better in comparison with thinkdiag PK X431?
I saw on amazon that it does ODB1 to, can you confirm that?

Question Please - For BMW E90 (2008 335XI):
Can this scanner read and check that the alternator is working properly? My battery is not charging all the way and trying to determine if the alternator (or some other component) is not working correctly. Thanks very much.

You can certainly see charging voltage and battery voltage before and after starting the car which should help you troubleshoot your issue.

Hello sir. What are u going to reset after cleaning the egr,throttle and intake manifold. Are you going to reset the tps or relearn the camshaft . Is the scanner compatible for toyota hilux 2008

Thanks! If the module reports this information, then yes. You can look at live data provided but the transmission module.

It honestly is for most everything; especially, if you work on more than one make of cars.

Interesting for the low cost. I assume it doesn't do any output tests like Injector balance, applying solenoids, etc. Still not too bad a tool for the DIY folks...
You're right, it cannot do those, but for the money it's a really good scanner if you work on more than one type of car.
Can I see if there is a signal going to the Ac compressor when I try to turn it on from the cabin climate control?
I'm not 100% as I've never done anything like that. If the car you are working on has an AC module, it will allow you to see if there are any short or open circuits.

Only two special functions is a killer for me, ABS brake bleeding is needed now. I wonder if they added more after 3 years?
Does this have functions like turning off single fuel injectors while the engine is running, opening EVAP solenoids and closing vent solenoids... that sort of stuff? Does it graph crankshaft and camshaft signals? Can it program key chips?
No, this scanner has only 2 bi-directional functions that I showed (brakes and oil reset, I believe). The main attraction here is that you can read every module’s live data, so you should be able to read and graph crankshaft and camshaft so glad as long as it’s reported by the module. It cannot program keys.

Does it have mechanical/electrical blueprints?? Oh I agree they should put more special functions like they should put a view camera so someone can go further into diagnostic and plus be super convenient.
It does not have blueprints, or at least I didn't come across those while using the scanner. Viewing different cameras on the car would be super cool, but I think it's a lot more involved with car computers etc.
Can the scanner clear SAS light.
Is this better than the 50 scan tools as far as pin pointing whats wrong my a vehicle and the engine light. I recently got my 05 infiniti qx56 driver side cat replaced amd now the shop says the engine light is still on because the other side needs done i dont believe them so should i buy one of these ???? You can go to OBD II or Diagnostic and under Engine you can see the battery voltage

Will this shut off the service maintenance light on a Volkswagen and a low tire light on a F150?
I haven't used it on a VW, but this scanner shouldn't have any issues resetting the service lights. As far as low tire light, it can reset it, but if the tire is low it will come back as soon as the car does a check.
Does it tell you what cylender is missing and give an in depth description as well?
It will tell you which one is misfiring and description of the trouble code.
Will it wind back hand brake motors on a Vauxhall insignia B grand sport. To change brake pads?
We don't' have Vauxhalls here, so I can't say for sure about your specific car. However, I didn't see that capability on my own cars (BMW 550i needs that as well), so I would have to assume no.

That sounds very strange, mine had like 16gb of free space. Have you tried updating just a couple makes to see if it's working in general?
So out of the box, do you need to download a specific software for your car or did it come pre installed already?
It appears to be plug and play, but you might want to update it when you get it incase anything was updated since the date of mfg until you purchased it.

Can it test the alternator system also if it’s faulty or not?
It can’t specifically check if the alternator is good or bad, but if the module on it reports live data, you can see it and it’ll tell you if it’s charging or not. Of course, if it has any codes, you’ll see that as well.
Is it powered only when it is jacked to the vehicle? Or do I have to replace batteries continuously?
There are no batteries, it’s powered by the OBD2 port
Hi, can this do an ELV counter reset on BMWs ?
This scanner does not have that option.
Can this clear ABS codes? I’m working with an Acura that has VSA and ABS codes. From what I’ve read it sounds like the NT624 can diagnose them but I’ve heard they’re tricky to clear. Anyone know if it will clear them or should I opt for the more expensive NT644?
This scanner can read and clear codes on all modules on the car, so it should have no issues clearing ABS codes.

Thanks for watching! I don't believe you can control solenoids and actuators. You'd need a bi-directional scanner that has actuation testing for each module.

I don't believe you can do that with this scanner. You may need the NT644 that has throttle adaptation special function.
This OBD2 scanner, what year vehicles does the scanner work on?
This works on all vehicles sold in US after 1996 since they will all have OBD2 functionality. Basically if the car has OBD2, it will work to some extent. As far as scanning individual modules, it will depend on the car itself and what modules it has.
Can this scanner do a CASE relearn after you change your PCM?
I don't believe so.

I don’t believe it can do that. You’d need a nt644 to do special functions like that. Unless you mean resetting the codes on it, then yes, it can.
How do i read transmission temp???
I’m buying a used car very soon my Question is can device this detect a check engine light or any other lights even if they are reset by someone who’s trying To cover them up
If they fully reset them, I don’t think you can see it with this scanner. It can show you shadow codes, but that’s different.
How does this one compare to nt530.

I haven't used the nt530, but from a quick search it seems to be capable of bi-directional control for many items. The NT624 is limited in that regard as it can only do the 2 items I showed. It cannot do things like injector calibration etc. Of course, this scanner works with pretty much any car unlike the nt530 which is BMW specific.

What are you trying to do exactly? You should be able to go to the tpms module and reset it from there if needed as far as I remember.

This is from memory, so I might be a off. Go to diagnostics, scan for VIN and then do a quick scan. Then find a module for TPMS (I think it’s RDC something) and you can clear the codes for it there etc.
What happens if you plug it in and click on autovin but it does nothing
will this work on a 1996 BMW Z3 & a 1996 SLK230? i already have the cable conversions like 20 to 16pin odb cable for BMW and 38 to 16 pin for the SLK230? many thanks.

It can scan the module to tell you if there are errors on the TPMS module.

Hi how will this be different from foxwell nt630 plus?
Hard to tell without using the device or watching videos about it, but it seems as though it can only read generic OBD2 codes and functions with 4 special service functions. NT624 is able to read individual modules on the car as well as vehicle specific codes (not general OBD2 codes) for those module and see live data for that specific module.
i have nt624 but i find nt630 plus better than nt624, because of spical Service only in nt630 plus

Will this one allow you to adjust the ignition timing on the distributor if your timing is off ?
I have never worked on a car with a distributor, so I can't vouch for that. I don't believe it can, though.
Just grab a distributor hold down wrench turn the distributor slightly to advance or retard the timing. Grab a chalk, mark the 0ﾟ and use a timing gun.
does it have a BCM scanner and clear/reset it?
This scanner can scan all modules and clear/reset codes on each of those modules. (I assume you mean body control modules).

Does this scanner work on a 1996 f250 7.3 powerstroke diesel
It will work on your truck as long as it has OBD2 compatibility. I'm not very familiar with diesel trucks, so I can't tell you example what you will be able to see or do but you will get the basics.
i bought the 650 elite model and it would not work on my 2004 duramax. contacted the seller and they confirmed it wont work on my model. my advise, if you buy it make sure you can easily return it.

It does not, you can plug it into the computer or pull the microSD card out and plug it in, though.

ABS light is on my truckj and I cannot get this thing to find the fault
Are you scanning the ABS module? What does it show under the module/read codes?
Make sure you aren't just scanner with regular OBD2 protocol and looking at generic codes.
