  • Using the large square meterage of the machinery shed roof and the lack of rain over the past months, time has come to start harvesting as much water as when can. With the installation of the first 25,000litre rain water tank we are on the way to start mass collection. The thought of roof cleaning was proposed and hence "First Flush" was introduced. This system was easy to install on the harvest feed to the water tank. Simply using the provided size charts based on the roof area determines the first flush volume. With a floating ball to seal once the "dirty water" off the roof cleared it will then start filling the rain water tank.

The first flush system is terrific for getting rid of leaves and bird sh*t from your roof. Looking at your setup I would imagine that you would either require a second flush system for the second side of your shed or, you will need the "T " section to be directly under your 45-degree bend from the shed to the tank. Otherwise, the dirty water from the second part of your roof will bypass the flush system, and you will have a system that only works at half its capacity and contaminates your tank.. The same would need to happen at the other end of your building. I hope this makes sense to you because I am about to head to bed and my brain just isn't working at full capacity LOL

Hey Les, I have another unit in my hot little hand ready to install on the other side. You beat me to it before I could put it together. If they work as they should I'll also install on the back end of the shed. I reckon its a cheap policy - first stage filtration.

If you got large land area; try not to put solar panels on the building roof because you need to clean those panels around 3~5 months to maintain its efficiency.

Hi Rimzalla, i understand about the cleaning of panels on the roof may be dangerous, however we have future plans for the area around the shed. This is out only option removing forward. Thanks for the heads up.
