Unlucky Morpheus and LOVEBITES as two to the best band's in the world today, the lead singer called Fuki is a legend in Japan, if you react another song for the band, i suggest ANGREIFER live official video, its a great song and the violinist (Jill) take the solo of guitarrist Shiren (red hair) , she (Jill violinist is a genius) anyway Great reaction 😀🤘

I second the choice of "Angreifer". Link is below (above?) in my other comment. As much as I love the whole band, it is Jill that makes them truly unique, and "Angreifer" shows her off.

  • @jokerdrogon2965
    @jokerdrogon2965 Před 2 lety +15

In Japan, it is called "Ankimo" (あん肝).
In Japanese, UN (lucky morpheus) and AN (lucky morpheus) are pronounced the same.
    Un = An.
kimo = ky (convert Lucky's ky to ki), mo = (acronym for Morpheus)
Ankimo means the liver of anglerfish, which is the liver of fish.
    It means the liver.
In Japan, you can eat alcohol as a side dish.
In that case, crush the liver, wrap it in aluminum foil and simmer.
After cooling in the refrigerator, slice and add ponzu sauce to eat.
Formed in 2008. The project started when vocalist Fuki and guitarist Shiren met.
Initially, it started with a copy band of anime songs, and in recent years it has expanded its activities centered on original songs and the "Touhou Project."
They haven't made a major debut.
They think it's best to do their job in the current online and comic market live scenes, given that even majors can't live on music alone, and that their major debut will narrow their reach.
When asked what to do with the band name, Fuki said, "Then, the street name is Ankimo." This was named by the method of "deciding a shortened street name and forcing a band name like that later", which was popular at the time when deciding the band name.
(Vo, lyrics, chorus, media group, band management) ( 天外冬黄 ) Fuyuki Tenge / Other activity names: Fuki
She is a girl who loves exercise, and when she was in junior high school, she met X JAPAN, Onmyo-Za, and woke up to her band. She has a powerful singing voice with a volume that does not require a microphone, and she is confident that she can deliver her own singing voice to the audience without compromising her instruments and noise.
(Guitar, composition, lyrics, arrangement, programming, death voice, band management): (紫煉)Shiren
Leader of Unlucky Morpheus. He learned the piano in his childhood and played the trumpet in the brass band in junior high school. He met X JAPAN when he took the high school exam and started playing the guitar after the exam.
Since he was a teenager, he has been known as a top regular guitarist in guitar contests.
He has been suffering from tendonitis of the arm since the end of 2016, using a guitar stand live, and for some songs he only plays the guitar solo and leaves the rest to Jinya.
At such times, he concentrates on screaming.
    (Guitar) (仁耶) Jinya
When he was a beginner, he practiced guitar exclusively at meetinghouses on the Internet.
He practiced guitar almost on his own, and regularly performed live house activities with his friends to test their courage and develop a sense of the stage.
He vaguely thought that music wouldn't be part of his hobby, with no future professional taste. However, while in high school, he joined another band and caught the eye of leader Shiren when he faced off against Unlucky Morpheus, and he joined their band.
(base ) Hiroyuki Ogawa ( Nickname is Ogya or Ogawa-kun. )
Ogya has begun a longing base for LUNA SEA and other similar rock bands.
He met the leader Shiren at a music college.
Shiren saw Oga's solid bass play and invited him to join the band.
Ogya, he's not heavy metal oriented, but he joined the band as an assistant as someone who started the band around the same time.
He also participated in a live performance that was not attended by vocalist Fuki and leader Shiren, and for some reason won the title of perfect attendance award and reigned as the ruler of the shadows.
"I'm a pirate! I'm a big guy who doesn't care about the details," he says himself.
He is currently also active in TRICK BOX and THE CHARM PARK.
(Dr) FUMIYA ( Nickname is Fumin or Fumin )
About the drums I had at my parents' house when I was in junior high school
Someone said, "If you don't use this drum, I want you to hand it over."
    Said.
Then he said, "Then I'll hit the drum myself."
Then he woke up and started playing the drums.
Actually, this drum set was purchased by his older sister, who was a fan of X JAPAN at the time, longing for YOSHIKI.
She wasn't even playing and was fertilizer for her home.
He moved to Tokyo alone when he graduated from high school. He has played in numerous bands and is loved by many of his seniors for his personality and loved by his juniors, and his network of contacts within the industry is extraordinary.
He is currently focusing on NEKOMANJU and Unlucky Morpheus.
    ( Violin ) JILL
She has been a violinist since childhood and went on to Tokyo University of the Arts.
She has won many awards in Japanese and overseas competitions.
While attending Tokyo University of the Arts, he formed "About Rose Noire" with his brother Louie and is still active.
When Shiren and JILL came together on the same stage at a live concert
After receiving an offer from Shiren to join the band, JILL decided to join Unlucky Morpheus.
Like Jinya on the guitar, it's natural in itself and there's no shortage of episodes. She loves alcohol and sometimes appeared with Smirnoff at an airport conference during the band's overseas expedition, which surprised the members.
After the stage, canned beer with a straw is waiting in the backyard.
(Vocal, Chorus, Band Management, Management, Mobile Vehicle Driving Kasumi): Kasumi
A second vocalist who fascinates the audience by making full use of high-tone voices that are far from men. He is also a vocalist of Icarus'cry, a sister circle of Unlucky Morpheus, and often sings Icarus' cry songs live. He is recognized as a festival man, and he sometimes shows cosplay at live performances. He basically appears as a helper, and may appear only as a twin vocal or may not appear in the first place. Although he has the excellence of being deeply involved in band management as a leader, it is difficult for even band members to find out what he really is because most of the words that come out of his mouth contain jokes and his voice does not change. He is also in charge of behind-the-scenes work such as booking a live house, and the members agree that it is difficult to tour without Kasumi.
That's a brief introduction to them.
I hope you will enjoy Unlucky Morpheus.
    Thank you.

The live version of this song (the newer "ENG SUB" one) features Jill, the violinist, playing the main part of the guitar solo/duet on her violin and absolutely shredding it. She has also done some violin covers of metal songs on violin along with the one guitarist, bassist, and drummer under the name "Quadratum from Unlucky Morpheus". Those covers are well worth checking out. She proves that she can shred on violin with the best of guitarists.
Angreifer (live) was mentioned, and is a great song. BTW, it's German for "attacker" and is pronounced "On-gryfer". The Tower of Blood (live) is great also, along with Dignity of Spirit. But if you want amazing, watch "Cadaver/Revadac". Its a 9 minute video of two songs. Cadaver is about death, a loved one dying and the spirit wondering what comes next. Revadac refers to the process of a cremated person's ashes being pressed into a synthetic diamond (the process does exist), and is about using that diamond to bring the deceased loved one back. The amazing thing is, when it switches from the first song to the second, the video plays in reverse... because the sheet music (everything but the drums) for Revarac is that of Cadaver played in reverse. It's brilliant.

"Unending Sorceress," "Cadaver/Revedac," and "Tower of Blood" (live) are some of Ankimo's best and feature more of the brilliant Jill on violin. Also maybe check out Shiren's (guitarist doing the growls) old band Yousei Teikoku (The Fairy Empire). "Kyusei Αργυροσ," "Paradiso≒Inferno, "Shadow Corp(se)" Their style is kind of, Gothic lolita dark fantasy metal.

Well done, great start with 3 amazing bands. Just to inform you, a month is not enough to present all the great Japanese metal bands. Maybe, if she did 3-4 reactions a day, that would be achieved. Hiavata G. has posted a list of great bands but it is not a complete list. There are no Japanese male metal bands as well as Visual Kei metal bands. Japan probably has, the best METALCORE scene in the world.
METALCORE bands: Crossfaith, Coldrain, Crystal Lake, DIR EN GRAY, Fear, and Loathing in Las Vegas, the GazettE, A Crowd Of Rebellion, SiM, Girugamesh, NOCTURNAL BLOODLUST, PassCode, Kiba of Akiba, Deviloof, Broken By The Scream, etc.
Visual Kei metal bands: Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet, Jupiter, Janne Da Arc, Suicide Ali, Sadie, -OZ-, Malice Mizer, lynch., Far East Design, exist † trace, Deluhi, DEATHGAZE etc.
Metal bands: X Japan, Seikima-II, Loudness, Galneryus, Maximum the Hormone, MUCC, Undead Corporation, G∀LMET, DADAROMA, Ningen-Isu, Blood Stain Child etc.
I especially recommend one band, which is maybe more rock than metal but very good and with a big impact on today’s Japanese scene: Ling Tosite Sigure.

Yes, Fumiya (Dr) is a monster, and very fun to watch. So, not sure if you saw my comment on your original announcement, but in case you have not yet chosen all the 31 bands you are doing to do, here is a crib sheet with many of the best Japanese bands (with a focus on female-led bands).
Japan has had an active all-girl metal scene since at least 1981. This is a starter list of all-female (or in eight cases, mixed gender) metal, punk, hard-rock and post-rock bands, with founding dates where I know them. It's alphabetical, except for the first three, which are at the top of the list for historical reasons. They set the table for the explosion of Japanese female hard-rock, punk and metal bands. Note: I have tried to pick clips that are reactor-friendly because they are high quality and are representative of the band's style.
You are likely to get suggestions mainly for Band-Maid, Babymetal, Lovebites, Nemophila, Unlucky Morpheus and Wagakki Band. You can’t go wrong with any of those, but I hope you will find time to check out more of the bands on this list. They are all worth the time and deserve the love, and many will really surprise you.
Show-Ya (1981 The original female J-metal band, founded before Metallica-this is from their 24th (!) anniversary concert-and they are still touring) They belong the any rock or music hall of fame: “I am the Storm” czcams.com/video/oJ_5Gv3vFjQ/video.html
Shonen Knife (1981 The world’s first bubblegum punk band. They have done several world tours. They also perform as a Ramones tribute band called Osaka Ramones): czcams.com/video/w9LUlYzOiWs/video.html
Destrose (2005; This band was never stable, but has become almost mythic in Japanese metal history, because so many great bands spun out of Destrose, including Lovebites--you will recognize the drummer and bassist): czcams.com/video/G1VwEGHPIhs/video.html
Aldious (2008 Glamorous and kick-ass rockers-one of the first generation all-girl metal bands, along with Destrose) czcams.com/video/sfkJT0rra-8/video.html
Asterism (2013 Not all female, but will melt your face off- the guitarist Haruka Noma is off the charts talented and still a teen-ager) czcams.com/video/IfxMi0Bx4x0/video.html
Babymetal (2010 The flagship “Kawaii metal” band and the most well-known Japanese metal act outside of Japan. Combining “Kawaii” (cute) Japanese pop tropes over thunderous heavy metal backing) czcams.com/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/video.html
Band-Maid (2013 OK, there are 100+ great songs by them. Here is a live clip): czcams.com/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/video.html
Bridear (2011 Heavy, technical-and their tiny bassist also growls): czcams.com/video/LQIDqudG_DQ/video.html

Disqualia (2015 Destrose spin-out, featuring Narumi, one of the best guitarists of this generation, and Hazuki, then an up-and-coming talent who is now a member of Nemophila) czcams.com/video/-M5zBKrTJRg/video.html

Fate Gear (2015 Super-group, one of the Destrose spinouts-continually changing lineup built around Mina (g) and (until very recently) Erica (b); this single video is one of the best in this list): czcams.com/video/tLQbsoKQN-0/video.html
Gacharic Spin (2009 Founded by two high school classmates, Hana (Dr, Vo, multiple instruments) and Koga (B) who had already been in other bands. czcams.com/video/k8NTRJ_yTxY/video.html

    Kakumei (2013--see Trident, below)
Lisa-X Band (Prodigy 16-year-old guitarist Lisa-X and a rotating cast of fellow bandmembers, often including Hazuki (of Disqualia and Nemophila). czcams.com/video/mN_oLqTka6M/video.html
Lovebites (2016 Modern Power, Speed, Thrash and Heavy Metal. Already making a global splash. Here is their most famous official MV-it’s even better than Shadowmaker IMO) czcams.com/video/hLFelI93VkM/video.html
Mardelas (2014 Another spin-off from Destrose; mixed male/female; leader Marina Hebiishi has one of the best voices in the biz) czcams.com/video/Wd8P7wTnWJs/video.html

Trident (formerly Kakumei, renamed in 2020 with some personnel changes. Evolved from pop-punk to thrashier hard rock; several lineup changes but the bassist and lead singer have been constants) czcams.com/video/9k9txMouU34/video.html
Unlucky Morpheus (2008 Female leads Fuki (vo) and Jill (violin). This band is a deep well unto itself, they cross many subgenres of metal; Fuki and Jill also do other projects and Fuki is lead for at least two other bands including Doll$Boxx, above) czcams.com/video/V8i_QhOgsKw/video.html
Wagakki Band (2012 Folk-Metal fusion band, all jedi-level musicians, half of them play traditional Japanese instruments and the other half play standard metal instruments) This song was originally written for a virtual (AI) singer, referred to as a Vocaloid
    czcams.com/video/Q2meWkWqc-I/video.html
Yōsei Teikoku (1997 Rock-Folk-Metal-Electronica fusion ensemble) Set up in a fictional Fairy Empire, led by founder Yui, they have done a lot of anime themes and sound-tracks and also perform original songs live, in character.
    czcams.com/video/_EeYxtAeaX4/video.html
There are many more (others that come to mind are BRATS, Drop’s, Stereopony, Scandal, Princess Princess, which all tend more in the pop direction, and the Bang-Dream projects, which are live groups based on Manga series. And of course, there are other female-fronted Kawaii-metal groups like Ladybaby and Ironbunny, to name the two best-known after Babymetal.

New sub here. Nice reaction to an awesome band! I fell down the J-Rock/J-Metal rabbit hole a while ago and have yet to climb out 😁. Don't know if your 31 days are completely booked, but now that you've heard Unlucky Morpheus you may want to check out Undead Corporation. The drummer and black haired guitarist for Unlucky Morpheus are past members of Undead Corporation. The video for The Revolution features both of them. You won't be disappointed 🤘😊🤘

Congrats on finding Unlucky Morpheus-one of the best, most creative bands in the world today. My top suggestion for a live clip: “Angreifer” czcams.com/video/gGKWgM4IOgc/video.html
Amid all the (justified) excitement over the Japanese all-female metal bands, we forget there are plenty of guys who throw down. Shiren, founder and one of the guitarists, also does the growls. Fumiya (Drums) is, as you saw, insane and inexhaustible-one of the best rock drummers in the world. Jinya (G) and Ogawa (B) are solid as well. Fumiya and Ogawa also have interesting, “beast” personae which contrast with the “beauty” of Fuki and Jill. That contrast is a deliberate trope, similar to the “Beauty and the Beast” imagery of many European symphonic metal bands.
Fuki (lead singer) is a legend in Japan, and one of the busiest artists anywhere. She is lead singer for UM, Doll$boxx, Lightbringer and her own ongoing project, Fuki Commune. Her style is very much out of the Japanese classical tradition, with the oversold vibrato and intense high notes. She collaborates with a lot of the top musical talents in Japan. Jill (violin) also has a busy dance card, including collaborations with Fuki outside UM. I consider her the best rock/jazz/metal violinist in the world today, and probably the best since Jean-Luc Ponty.
Jill is actually my favorite member of Unlucky Morpheus. Here are links to instrumentals featuring her in UM’s instrumental project Quadratum:

I saw UM live in London in 2019, when they headlined Metal Matsuri. Great show, and the chemistry between Fuki and Jill was electric.
