    Thanks a bunch, man. Always wanted to install MAME but it looked a bit daunting. It took me almost a week to download the full rom set (and I could only find version 0.232) but eventually it all worked out. Now I have around thirty thousand games in my PC. What's a bummer is that not all games could find images for their big boxes, but I'll get around to that sometime. Again, thank you very much, you were very kind with your time in order to teach us the steps.

      @@pablobragacp Let's be real there, arcade games in general do not contain a fancy boxart like the console one. Even there is one, the list appearance still looks very inconsistent which doesn't help at all :3
      Personally, just like the scenario with Nintendo Satellaview games, I would make an exception which I rather use title screen as Arcade boxart cover list. Every arcade game basically has it's own title screen so it would make the overall looking much more bearable :3
      Also, when adding arcade playlist in Launchbox or Retroarch, DO NOT set the core as every game sometimes needs different cores to successfully boot the application.

    1) How do I prevent automatic full screen? I almost always play in a window to pause and go back and to other apps
    2) Controller setup! This is something where Launchbox just doesn't have a patch on openemu for mac (nothing does really as far as ease of use goes). How do I set up my controller, including analog for driving games?
    3) How do I access game rom settings, for example with neogeo i should be able to have control over difficulty level, lives, etc. This is really easy in RA with FBN.
    Thanks very much in advance!

    If you're using MAME in Retroarch you'll need Finalburn Neo, MAME 2016, and MAME 2003. Not all the roms set will work with just one, you need to see which one doesn't launch and switch them accordingly. You can also setup Launchbox for these 3 category, only roms that works with 2003, 2016 and Finalburn.

    So if I want to trim my set, cause I like CHDs, I should import a full non-merged set, and after the import, export the games it imported, possibly convert it to split or merged, remove the roms in launchbox and then import the exported set?

    Bless you for this. I’m going to use this for my Arcade1up machines. Can I use you 2-3 year old video for raspberry pie on Arcade1up for tutorial still? I kind of want to do the install with getting all original hardware and just throw in a computer to run this launch box.

      You probably can but I'd suggest you search a video on modding the specific arcade you got because there might be some minor but potentially confusing changes between other arcade models and the panels/wiring they use.

    Great video!
    What usb encoders would you recommend for the joysticks and buttons?

    • @alexisrivera200xable
      @alexisrivera200xable Před 2 lety +1

      Most cheap encoders on Amazon are good enough and are basically plug and play. The buttons on the other hand will depend on what have you played and what you like. Some folks like buttons that light up others are more concerned about them being concave or convex. I'd suggest the simpler single color buttons without lights, they are cheaper and easier to set up. you can always get different buttons for your encoder if you want something more colorful or fancy afterwards.

      @Alexis Rivera Appreciate that. I usually use the cheap ones. I've bought the led buttons once, their okay, but like you mentioned, I'd rather stick with the traditional ones.

    Keeping the nag screens is actually a good idea, then if something is not working right, at least you have some idea what's happening.

    Followed the guide exactly, but the No-Nag doesn't jump right into the game anymore. I used the same X-men example you did.
