- So my eyes do this really cool thing.
When I go outside, the color of my eyes changes from blue... to dark brown. If i'm in the sun for over 10 minutes, they turn so dark that you can barely see my pupil.
But... why?

In the old days before transition lenses were ever invented and contact lenses were a new invention , I was engaged to a latina/asian lady whose eyes changed from dark brown, to reddish brown and then to olive green depending upon the amount of sunlight she was exposed to.
my mom changes from green to grey to hazle depending on the light/mood and she's Latina/native. maybe there's a far correlation
@@WhiteWolfos No way dude, I am the only person I know besides my mom with blue eyes, my dad whose family is from Ireland, all had dark brown and green eyes, tan olive skin and black brown hair.. I think one of his ancestors is not Irish, my mom's side is Nordic, all blonde hair and blue eyes, very light toned all around. But my eyes go from grey with a navy outer ring, to seafoam color with a teal outer ring. I have been told and noticed how my eyes change, I've been so mesmerized by this occurrence actually lol.
All my friends have brown and yellow eyes and I have definitely seen their eyes change tone and depth depending on how they feel as well.

This occurs and is more visible on light colored eyes. Thebpigments change and muscle fibers in the iris move and contract, exposing other deeper fibers of different pigment.

But have alot of mixed blood, my grandma side is Norwegian, irish (orange), Scottish and Dutch and most of my grandma's side all had strawberry blond hair and green blue eyes. And my grandpa is black. It's just strange to me because most of the time I wonder where my looks come from because I don't really look like my mom or dad(Jamaican). My eyes turn neon green when I'm angry.
My eyes are greenish gray with a golden amber central heterochromia... if I'm in the sun, they turn an intense golden green... if I'm very relaxed and in a soft lighting environment, they turn gray with golden central heterochromia...
This is called “transition contacts”, just like when you get eyeglasses that can transition in the sun to either brown or dark grey you can also have cls that do the same. Acuvue transition contacts (look it up). I work as an optician, and sell these for a living (no ones eyes transition like this normally).

@@danielt.miranda2107 well I get transition glasses to block out UV rays and make it easier to see. So I’m guessing it’s for eyes sensitive to light and blocks a percentage of harmful rays.
@@darkwolfx9959 yes you are correct. You can get transition lenses for a number of reasons. However, it’s mainly bc you have light sensitivity due to an astigmatism. Also, having very light colored eyes (blue or green) can also make you sensitive to light. Transition lenses are an alternative to sunglasses.

My eyes change colour due to the reflection the sun has on my eyes- I’m only 13 and I don’t wear contacts or anything to change my eye colour. My uncle is the exact same. My eyes are usually hazel or blue but can go more green or more bluey-grey depending on the the sunlight as I’ve stated before. And my step dad, he has blue eyes, and they change shades of blue depending on his emotions- and I’m not lying

I have silvery blue eyes normally but when I cry or my eyes get wet they turn like a teal colour.
Your eyes themselves don't change color. The "swelling" caused by the crying which "reddens" the whites of your eyes makes them look different.
My eyes are a light, green/gray. When I cry, they look like pure emeralds due to the change of the sclera.

Those are photochromatic contact lenses. Eye specialist here!
Edit: photochromic and photochromatic are both acceptable terms for any lens than darkens on exposure to UV light.
Edit 2: Under no known natural circumstances eye changes color that quick. It takes a long time for inflammation/cancer/drugs to change eye color.

Now for actually "changing" Iris color: Grey eyes reflect the color depending on basically everything around them. Grey, blue-ish, green-ish, blue-green whatever is there to reflect into the Iris to your pupils
It also is for some ppl with hazel eyes. Exept its instant . It something to do with lighting that its looks green in one and brown in another lighting

The way I can tell she’s using some sort of contact. Is because her pupil didn’t dilate at all, it stayed quite big and if you were to stare up into the sunny sky like this, your pupil would shrink a LOT
They are called transition lenses. They are used for people with a sensitivity to light to block out uv rays. It’s usually people with lightly colored eyes who have light sensitive eyes

I thought I found a human like me but people are saying it's contact lenses. My eyes color changes between green, brown, dark brown. Once in very sunny day it turned into yellow. I only noticed when my friends told me my eye color was yellow. But it only happened once. But nowadays my eyes can turn green, brown, dark brown depending on light and my mood.

They now make contact lenses that change color . they can be made to react to heat ,wave lengths of light, and even low charge of electricity.. They are still working on the one's that would react to one's own mood though.

It is normal that eyecolor gets slightly brighter in the sun light abd with the time it'll stay this color.
Thats why old people always have brighter eyecolor than they had when they were younger.
Some people have a slightly more visible change.

Quick update: I use to work for Lenscrafters about two years ago, and this was one of the latest and greatest contact lenses that they came out with. Its call “Transition contact” they suppose to protect your eyes from the sun. It works alot like , transition glasses.It’s pretty cool but it’s very freaky and demonic-ish if you have light color eyes, i.e....blue, green, gray or hazel. It take between 5-7 min to completely transform to clear when you are indoor . Which is kind of weird if you go to a restaurant and you eyes start changing color right in front of your waiter . And about 1-2 min when you are outdoor. You do not need prescription to get them . You can get this at your local target or Lenscrafters’s . And yes it gets very dark, it actually turns dark brown to black depend on the level of the sun ray.It covers the cornea. this could be a great alternative for very active individuals, soccer , football etc.... also it’s not recommended to look directly in the sun just because you have these lenses , you still could go blind.

While a full change of eye color being an adult is unlikely, it can change depending on light. Light causes the body to create more pigmentation which usually causes the eyes to be a bit darker. Eye color also changes when you get older.

😂 It's cause she's wearing TRANSITION CONTACT LENSES. They work just like transition eyeglasses. These contact lenses automatically darken when you go outside, and transition back to light/clear when you go inside.
I really eyes changing color due my emotions. They are normally hazel or yellow, when I'm happy they are amber, when I'm sad they are black and when I'm mad they're red. I dunno why, I don't know why, I don't have any conditions or doctors failed to find out...

The plankton would die due to the drastic environment change that could occur from going from a large and expansive ocean full of nutrients to an eye that is in direct light for most of the day and it would dry out.
