Nick that antique machinery is just too cool for words! Can't call it primitive, those machines were the top technology of their time and they still work as advertised. Just amazing!
    Thanks so much for posting!
(Now my life won't be complete until I get a steam tractor! )

While I liked everything, the steam powered cranes always fascinate me the most - great stuff Nick!

Great stuff, Nick. My Great Grandpa had a JI Case steam tractor on the Adams family Homestead in Northwestern Kansas. It was great to see these running. I had forgotten that they had a steam whistle like a locomotive. We lived on a farm and had a John Deere put put tractor. There is nothing better than seeing and hearing one of these old machines running. The intimidation factor was at a high level. Those were the days. Every day was another adventure. Love the Shays. They're a real hoot. Pun intened. They are mesmerizing to watch running. Looks like a great way to get nowhere slowly.

Thanks for watching! I was asked to try to not get them on camera out of respect. They were running all sorts of equipment as well

Quick correction. The locomotive at the Strasburg RR is a Cagney Bros locomotive. They were the closest thing Crown had to a competitor in the 15in+ live steam market. Though by the time Crown came into its own Cagney Bros was well on its way out

That’s my whistle they had on the Shay that weekend. It’s a Canadian National Railroad 4 Chime locomotive whistle from an N-4 Class 2-8-0.

Great video. I have been to Kinzers Rough & Tumble in August.Never in May. I really enjoy the noon whistle blow. Nice you posted this . I never knew what the spring show was like. If you ever get the time check out The Williams Grove shows. They run an original 1901 P.R.R. steam locomotive. From what I heard it is the only P.R.R. steam locomotive in operation.

I'll bet 80% of the reason Nick went was for the whistles
