  • HOW TO COOK BUCKWHEAT | Buckwheat recipe | Φαγόπυρο // This video is a tutorial on how to make buckwheat. Buckwheat is a seed and not a wheat, which means it is gluten-free, thus making it appropriate for anyone that is celiac or is intolerant to gluten. This ingredient is great to include in your diet because of its high composition in complex carbohydrates, ideal for people with type 2 diabetes and those looking to manage their blood sugar spikes. It is becoming all the more popular as it contains other macro- and micro-nutrients such as protein, fats, a variety of minerals, and antioxidants.

Thanks for the video! My mother made buckwheat regularly when I was growing up and gives me giant bags of buckwheat every few months. I cook twice a week for breakfast, sometimes sweet with oat milk, with berries, sliced almonds, and hemp seeds, and sometimes savory with olive oil, vegetables and tofu.

Buckwheat's delicious so long as it's roasted and this recipe sounds really good, but for some of us, getting hold of buckwheat is more difficult and quite costly. Where it's a staple food and widely grown it quite naturally becomes a staple food, but not so much here I think.

I have tried to make buckwheat several times now.........I don't get it. I tried without the vegies and with the vagies.......as you are showing
After I put in the water and cover it for about 5 Minutes it looks great - fluffy. I cover it and go back later (maybe 10 minutes) And it it mush......
The grains are interspersed with this clear filmy type of gluie stuff.......After it cools - it isn't as bad but it is still mush.......I have tries it now about 3 times and no matter whose recipe I try it is the same....

I used to make buckwheat and never had an issue with it becoming mushy. Now it seems that it always comes out mushy. I typically toast the green buckwheat and let it cool before I add the water. I sue the same proportions as you use. Any idea why my kasha comes out mushy and not like nice individual grains? Have you ever experienced this problem?
