Its a combination of both along with a rental spike that nobody can afford even working 24 hours a day with 0 hours of sleep. This results in homelessness for over 3,700 people in Toronto Ontario alone with only 1,700 shelter beds available. Over a million Canadians each year are sleeping outside in tents and not inside a shelter with heat, water, shower, and toilets.
It's everywhere now. I live in Australia. It's here too.
If they’d spent the 60 million on addressing homelessness instead of giving it to some bogus IT company, things would have been a lot better. A total waste of taxpayers money.
When rents and mortgages double, people have no shelter.

I worked in construction in Vancouver as Safety. Half the guys live in the vehicles because they need their trucks and cant afford an apt as well. Not all plan to be homeless and many do work. Notice how almost all homelessness is male in Canada. Ever seen the rooms for rent female or student only. You live in denial.
thats the problem, when did it become a right to shelter, Socialism at the worst, what happened to working for a living. Eventually the economy will collapse like Argentina or Venezuela , then watch people freak out.

Such a ridiculous thing to say . I’m in my mid thirties and I’ve been working since I was 15 . Imagine making 40k a year and spending 24k on rent alone ? And don’t get me started on other expenses like food , insurance, gas etc which have all skyrocketed ! Despite having a degree , some of us have no choice but to get a second job , just to be asked to pay more taxe as because the government thinks they didn’t deduct enough . When do we draw the limit to this non sense ? Having roommates use to be a thing people were doing in their younger years to save cash and build friendships today we are forced to a rooms and sleep in living rooms . Always more taxes to pay , but the whole country is falling apart .
Stop building luxury apartments and condo in the City of Toronto and across Canada. Stop the foreign investers from snatching up real estate. Rental caps need to be implemented across Canada at the Federal Level, with a 4 tier break (ie., bachelor, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and 3 bedroom). Apartments at the bachelor level should be no more than the current rate of Ontario Works Shelter for a single individual which is $390.00 monthly.
They vastly outnumber a teacher on purpose per classroom then the students that can't be taught the teacher can't keep up with not the student can't keep up the teachers give up those are valuable students all of a sudden now you care about them 20 years later hey drop out what happened to drop out - Willy 00

Current unemployment rate plus many corporations have a fear of hiring the seniors in the community who are 50 years and older due to higher medical coverages, lower productivity levels, and act too much like Mom and Dad.
