Adding a Shed Dormer

And we thought we were done with the roof... in this video we add a shed dormer on the north side of the house.
Hi all! We're settling 76 wooded acres in Tennessee and we're doing most of the work ourselves. Here's a little update of our progress.

Looked like a lot of work. Looks great and should give you tons more light! We feel the same way about our "garden". It's super high in iron and pretty low in most everything else lol. Keep plugging away, it'll get there.

When you replaced the roof ridge piece were there any modifications due to the different angles of the roof pitches?

How long did it take you to demo the roof and complete the shed dormer? Ps love the work you did on this project, I am doing a gable roof demo and installing a shed roof for a local Bed and Breakfast just wanted to get a rough idea as to a timeline of your project including roof metal install and the siding install.

About 1 week for the demo/construction and finishing the exterior. Not sure on the interior (drywall) as we did that later.

Im about to put a shed dormer on my garage to make an office. Planning on doing it myself. Are there any tips you make have or can point me in the direction to for making sure that the roof is stable afterwards? I'm still looking for a designer as well.

Put in a header if the dormer doesn't start at the roof peak. Either way, webbing or cross beams in the rafters above the ceiling to keep the roof from spreading and sagging.

What's the insulation plan around that dormer and attic?

We did R19 in the walls just like the rest of the house, and blew insulation into the attic.
