- I saw this cockatoo sitting on a water fountain trying to lick some moisture off, so i went up and asked if he wanted some water.
Exact same spot as this video • Sulfur-Crested Cockato... though they've replaced the tap of the fountain.
0:50 He finally realises that the human was the one who made the water come out. Mind blown.
@Anna K featherleess pink giants lol😂😂😂
air breathing featherless pink giants*
@@ChiquitaSpeaks more like white giants. Number 1 source of terrorism in the Western world.
AyshunPryde yeah but white pink giants always caring about animals
Sometimes I think other animals think we are wizards.
Next bird will...
A.) learn how to turn on the fountain himself
B.) let the humans turn the fountain on anyway because he’s lazy but smart
You 've had a parrot.
There's another video possibly the same bird where he actually gestures at the handle. So I'd say he knows how it works he just don't have the dexterity to work it himself.
czcams.com/video/82_ZJ1Y4Hhk/video.html here's the video Rork310 mentioned, you're welcome
Teach the bird how to turn on the fountain, and you have done a great service to the bird.
Teach the bird to turn it back off after he's finished, and you have done a great service to the planet.
You can see the bird at one moment during the clip look at the woman's hand on the handle and I thought to myself he's watching how she does it, fascinating...
0:49 He's like "Wait, _you_ are doing this? Woah, dude."
One does not simply have 69 likes without saying nice
Why has youtube taken 9 years to show me this ;.;
Exactly :(
Puzzle time!
10 years ;-;
11 years for me
Aww! That was a very thirsty bird! Good for you!
This is the content I want on youtube.
Now this is an example of how to be a good person. Help other creatures get water and be good to them.
@wlad only the male baby chickens, cause the females lay the eggs, and the males are useless for egg production. The female chickens also have larger breasts.
@wlad You're reminding me of the people i'd leave alone on cannibal islands. They may call it work but it's still no less evil.
@@damotoneko1500 then blame the corporation for the politics they have on how they make people work
DA MotoNeko How long and how often is this possible?
Y'all are all crazy
There seems to be an upsurge in wild animals getting people to help them, they kind of know who to "ask".
Perhaps it takes a few generations of wild animals, and the spread of humanity the past century across the globe, for wild animals to realize that most humans sent a threat?
@@checkmate778 yes, that's s good theory, I wonder if there's been any study's. Because if you look at pigeons in city centres they know that people are more a source of food than a danger to the them!
I've noticed this as well.
I'm thinking it's more a rise in people getting it recorded/shown out there. Like, before smartphones made it so easy to record, you either had to have your camcorder on you, let alone OWN one, or just hope your word of mouth will be enough to convince whoever you're telling that a cow asked you for help with its baby. Now that there's plenty of smartphones, it's easy to whip it out to record what's going on now. You know?
@@stephenwedderburn9307 yes I've had to stop snacking downtown while heading home for the day because pigeons would just forget all sense of boudaries when they notice my chips. I dont mind sharing but im afraid of nearly all animals and like 10 pigeons would flock around me pecking at the ground just waiting for me to drop something
suggestion for park management: replace the star shaped handle with a lever handle so the birds can step on it in order to get water flow. won't take very long for those feathered geniuses to figure out how to use it.
Birds are so funny and mostly unnoticed by the average person.
My whole backyard is a series of bird, squirrel and rabbit families that I've come to know over time. The birds are so much fun to watch interact with each other. I've even named many of the regulars. All these little creatures have added so much joy to my family's life.
Thank you sooooooooooo much for your kindness!! You a very good person!! Joan
where are you beautiful BEAUTIFUL People in world??? So very kind.
GREAT JOB!!!
Thumbs UP!!!.....Way wayyy UP!!!!!
cringe...
They should put in a Beak Tap for these beautiful creatures!!!
Or just have a Bowl of water 😂
replacing the tap with a universally accessible type push down lever would work just as well :)
I'm almost surprised the cockatoo didn't turn on the water himself :)
Those ones are really hard too turn.
I noticed him checking out the guy's hand so he could do it himself next time, but it would be too hard to turn I think. He will have to sit there waiting again.
I think we need to get councils to switch these old ones out to the newer, more accessible ones that just require pushing down on a lever - for humans with disabilities right? ;) Just a co-incidence the cockies will be able to use the more universally accessible ones too :)
That was so kind of you!
Amazing, gosh this clip was taken nine years ago, how time FLIES,...
This the type of wholesome content I live for
Precious, sweet bird & kind, loving human.
Cockatoos are so damn intelligent!
Almost all birds are
He really was looking for a drink.
Also, I wonder how animals are able to detect minute traces of water, knowing there must be a source.
Many animals have a sense of smell far, far greater than ours. Some can smell water from inconceivably great distances.
suzbone I figured. It couldn’t be through sight alone.
I thinks it’s more likely this bird saw someone drink from the fountain so it knows there’s water there and just can’t turn the water on.
Poo0fi I speak of water sources in general, though, not just the fountain.
Bird sees human drink and after seeing 2 or 3 people do it ,the bird understands completely. i have trained Parrots and some can learn a trick by watching me show them how to do it ONCE.....
I’m calling it now while it’s at 97k views. CZcams’s gonna suddenly put this into everyone’s recommended and it’s gonna blow into the millions
Yeah last night it was at 47k so I'm guessing it's gonna blow up

2019: HERES A COCKATOO DRINKING FROM A FOUNTAIN !
It may have been almost 9 years ago, but thank you regardless for helping them! :D You're a very kind person
That’s one thirsty bird
Awww...that was lovely. S/he was quite thirsty too.
tenderheart17 looks like a she to me
@@6l1tch19 looks young to me, but I'm also definitely going to call it a "she", cause most people automatically call animals "he", so we need to balance it :)
That was awesome of you! She was so thirsty!!
Black eyes male.. brown eyes female...
O.m.g. That is soooooooooooooo cute. Thank you for sharing.
Plot twist: It was just standing there blanking it’s mind until a human came and disturbed its peaceful meditation with the water fountain. After a moment of awkwardness, the thoughtful cockatoo understood the situation and decided to save the human from embarrassment. What a nice birdie!
There's nothing better than a well-trained human.
what a darling- he and you both!
So beautiful. You are very kind
Well trained human.
thats one luxurious ass pigeon you aussies have over there
awwww poor thing was soooo thirsty!!!! thank you :D
They are so clever, he's looking at the tap as if to say make it easy change the design so we can use it
I was quite sad when he didn't say "thank you, good Sir" before flying off. I love these wild birds
This was so sweet - loved it! I hope that others do that for him in future too, and that noone tries to abuse the trust he's putting in them (by trying to touch the bird or something).
I'd be more worried about people getting bitten by the cockatoo. Have you ever been bitten by one of them? You should watch them eating chicken bones.
@@farmduck2762 No, I haven't been bitten by one, but seeing glossy black cockatoos ripping apart closed pine cones says a bit about how sharp their beaks are, so I can imagine that might be an worry.
I bet you next time it will open the tap using its beak. They do this all the time in Australia very smart birds they just need to observe one or two times to learn
That bird was no way gonna go up there. BUT cos you took the time to keep the fountain going it decided hey this guy is cool!
I want water, I want water, I want water. Man turns on water, (screams) what is that? Jumps away. Typical cockatoo!
@Traci Lay
The cockatoo wisely displayed caution in dealing with an unknown human.
@@moviemad56 yes, that too!
@@moviemad56 hooman*
Love the heavy breathing, lol!
yeah...sorry about that. It was quite awkward holding the camera in one hand, trying to reach forward to open the tap, but stay leaning back to keep the camera steady.
Also, I'm a salad dodger.
The video is 8 years old, the bird is now able to turn on the fountain itself
THEY are soooooooo damn smart!!
Cockatoo: thanks for letting me borrow your opposable thumbs ;) GREAT VIDEO!
God Bless you man that was cool!
Thank you for turning on the water.
Haha, the bird after drinking water looks like “please turn water off “, iam done with drinking 😊
That Cockatoo flew away like I wasn’t expecting that lol.👍😁😎
Exactly correct..
Aw poor buddy was parched, hopefully he finds a natural water source next time.
why? What's wrong with this water source? The council just need to switch the handle to a universally accessible lever style so the birds can use it too :)
0:50 bird said i finished let turn it off, eh?
Lol the bird is canadian?
he squaw
he fly
but most importantly...
if he want water he wait for the guy
That look at the end there.. " aah so thsts what you have to pull to get water, I see"
And thus, he made a friend for life.
Beautiful fountain and bird
They should have a bowl at the bottom that collects the run off water, and animals can drink out of them when they need too.
They have that here where I live in QLD.:)
how do you manage the mozzies from that?
Thank you kind human
They GOTTA find a way to make the thing easy enough for the birds to turn on.
They really should adapt the design so the birds can give themselves water.
See there is always someone who wants to help the birdies in cockatoo land.
Still a better love story than tinder dates. ❤️😂
Cockatoo: *Holy shit, a real life waterbender!*
Your bird acts like a human because he's drinking from a fountain that is made for humans to drink from. That's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing your video with us. I subscribed to your channel just now. Thanks. Keep up the good work. I'll keep watching.
thats a wild one

Notice the tree wrapped with some kind of netting? Many orchard farmers wrap tree trunks with things like flat aluminum sheeting, usually to prevent forest rats from climbing up where the fruits are. I’m not sure what this would be for.
for possums if the tree is being inundated & needs a break, so that it can grow again (possums like the fresh, new shoots).
This is the cutest thing. It looked like the birdie was trying ti figure out how to turn it on.
He knew how to do it, but was not strong enough to do it....
That's one happy cockatoo!
Thank you for helping that poor bird!
Thank fuck the top comment isn't some bullshit about CZcams waiting till 2019 to recommend me this video.
WHO'S A GOOD BIRD. GOOD BIRDY. CLEVER BIRDY :D
Australia, right? He said thank you at the end :-)
So amazing how he then.... studies your hand.... to see.... 'How they hell did he turn this thing on.... I need to know this for later.....' SO SMART!!
Precious!!!
This is what CZcams is about. Not T.V programming that they're jamming into this site in recent years.
He’s like, oh you are helping me, at first I thought you were a Foe!
Next thing you know, Cockatoos will learn how conversation works instead of just mimicking words like any other Animal Cry.
In Australia these are called « bubblers »
he is drinking so cultivated :)
i drink from bottles :(
Such a cutie 🥰🥰🥰
When parrots will rule the World, he will remind you and give you water...
Is it bad that I love animals more than people? 🤗🤗🤗
That has to be the coolest looking drinking water fountain I have ever seen. What city/state or country is this video taken?
This is in Australia.
Very smart bird. He should know how to drink the water next time after watching you did that.
i’m getting so many birds on my recommendation but i’m not complaining 🥰
"MMMM, this is convenient. Do you have soda pop?"
