  • Barbuda is paradise on earth: a small Caribbean island with beautiful beaches and clear water full of fish and lobster. While land is not for sale in Barbuda, Gaston Browne, the Prime Minister from Antigua, sees the coastline as a form of income for his government. He nevertheless granted a lease to foreign investors for the construction of the Barbuda Ocean Club. It will be a so-called "private paradise" with a large number of holiday villas, a golf course, beach club and helipad. Will the Barbudans be able to protect their unique lifestyle?

A message to the Barbudans people. You must keep on fighting to keep your Beautiful island in the peoples hands, It has been made very plain from this short video that the crave for money by some will spoil this fantastic place which i have recently visited, please don't let it be ruined by a few greedy persons. I totally respect the people of Barbuda and have seen the lifestyle that could be lost. Best wishes and good luck, Ian from England

Rich people have money and power to get government officials in their pockets. Don't you see they're already stealing the land and making them private without the islanders getting a slice.

Princess Diana was alive today she would not be having this. The only thing is that there one stretch of road needs to be done over, a grocery store etc. But with that comes greed and other things. This is my 2nd home and would do anything to help

My only concern if there is basic amenities like grocery stores, medical facilities, schools for the children, old age places for the population, means of surviving financially.

Leave them people alone. They are doing just fine without the rich coming in and destroying their way of life. This has been done to so many islands, there are many examples of the negative impact. Hawaii, PR ect.

He is a crook and thief. A humanitarian donated a million dollars to the Barbudan people to aid in the recovery. When he asked for a receipt from Gaston Browne he gets the run around from the prime minister. He stole that money and probably had it a bank somewhere growing interest. If he had given the money to Barbudans, many of them wouldn't become part of his loan scam where he takes land that's suppose to be free for them charge them a buck for it along with loans to rebuild their homes. Guess what happens if they can't pay back loan. An ingenious plan to steal land from people so you can have developers come in to destroy the ecosystem and use the money to enrich Antigua. If you see the difference between the two islands, you would see why Barbudans fight to ensure their island don't become like Antigua. If the people had gotten that money to rebuild, they would have been able to hold on to the land and stop the commercialization of one of the few places in the world with limited footprint. They don't need or want an international airport. But since China is paying Gaston Browne for it he wants to force it on them

As a antiguan and barbudan i am very disappointed to see a documentary like this that dont speak the truth. The land in the country belongs to the crown. Codington did not own any land he was leasing. The projects that are being developed is helping our country and those people that are speaking is the 1 percent (Rich) of the island. Lets talk about the only one gas station on the island that you trevor walker owns monopoly i should say. Lets talk about after a child turns 18 there is nothing for them to do so they have to leave the island hence the reason why the population is still so low, a brain drain on our country. SPEAK THE TRUTH. THANK YOU
