Wow, what an excellent example ! I want to build one like yours yet I am a novice builder. If you are willing to share some tips for me I would truly appreciate it.... For example your support/display box. Is it scratch built ? The toggle switches and lighted nodes... do you have a diagram or any layout for it? Thanks !
YES. Definitely paint the interior of all the parts so you don't get light bleeding through. This model is molded in white and will definitely show any light leaks. Sometimes instead of painting the inside I use foil tape, which completely blocks any light.
I seen a lot of amazingly done models of the Enterprise - dozends... But this one is the best of those all, in my opinion. Its not only how accurate it was build - the love to the details... Somehow you managed to do a paintjob, which makes the Enterprise 'scaleable' - i mean: in close shots there is the feeling: this could also be a big ship. I saw the 'pattern' on the hull also by others, but the colours looked a bit off (kind of rainbowish). At this model on the other hand, the colours are much more carefully picked and mixed, i assume - so that they still feel like 'metal' . That makes the ''pattern'' on the hull much more believable. I also concentrated much more to the surroundings of the deflector dish , in the close ups...the tiny lights around it (also that maximize the feeling, that this is a big spaceship)... I also had the feeling, that the windows are done much carefully (i am not sure about that) - but it seems, that they had ''irregularities'' in it , which also maximizes the feel: that there is ''stuff'' going on behind the windows... All these small details makes the ship very close to a movie-model. I cant imagine, that someone can build a better Enterprise at this scale. Big respect from me, for this awesome work (it must be cost a lot of time and sweat , to do this model at this quality)
Thank you very much for the kind words sir. This model is a beast. In my opinion it's one of the hardest models to build and get right. I built three of these. I don't think I'd ever build another one, but you never know. This is the best one I ever built. I ended up selling it a few years ago, which I regret, but I can always build another one I guess. The aztec work is tough to get right - like you said it has to look big. The iridescent paint is not easy and I had to use two different paint mask sets to get it as close as possible to the real deal. Thank you again. I think this is a different Refit I did but it's close to the version on CZcams. modelermagic.com/for-sale-1350-star-trek-tmp-uss-enterprise-refit-from-rossi-replicas/
I didn't design the board but here are the specs. It's supposed to mimic the lighting sequence from TMP. tenacontrols.com/product/lighting-kit-timed-to-first-star-trek-movie/
I recently purchased the refit 350, but i am reluctant to start building it because i just dont understand the concept of getting the aztec paints correct on the ship. i dont want to start it unless i know how to get the panels done correctly. i wish some one would really explain this in more detail. no one shows the painting process. Can you give me any tips to getting it right?? Thanks
Search on TrekWorks videos on CZcams. He explains the entire process from start to finish. The build itself as well as all of the aztec work and what paints he used, etc. That's what I used as a guide.
@@purefoldnz3070 Really? That's strange. I had to use both the Aztec Dummy masks and the Orbital Drydock masks to get it right. Someone needs to sell the masks because there's a huge demand.
@@rossireplicas1197 They are selling the model without the decals now. Maybe the original ones got too old? I looked around the internet and they are very hard to come by.
I didn't program the board sir. I believe the lighting sequence was made to imitate the startup sequence of the Enterprise in ST TMP when in drydock. It's not an overall lighting scheme that covers all scenarios of possible lighting configurations. Either way TenaControls can address the discrepancies.
One thing I find with every one of Ralphs boards are his navigation and strobe lights are way to fast no matter what ship he makes them for. I make my own boards and they are pretty much timed right on to what you see in the movies, close to half the rate as Tenacontrols boards. High price to pay for something that is far from being accurate. Even the board for the new 350th scale Klingon K'tinga is incorrect. He has the navigation lights ramping on, where as in the movie they are actually just a normal on, off with no ramping feature.
nice job but why didn't you have the impulse crystal blue or change to blue? I mean that would be movie accurate. everything else was nice but the impulse crystal not being blue is a throwoff
Rossi Replicas I had heard this was a difficult build and my talents are not strong in this area. Just thought I’d ask if you were contracting you model skills out. Thanks for getting back to me.
@@CJS309 Hi - yes I do contract builds all the time. I don't think I'd build this one again though. It's not a very good kit and iridescent paint work is very tedious to get right. It takes 2-3 months for me to build this one.
@@CJS309 Oh ok. That's an entirely different story as the TOS Enterprise is a really nice model kit. Are you looking for full lighting of the bridge, shuttle bay detail, bussards, etc.?
Remarkable work! Great attention to detail. Bravo!
Thank you sir!
Good Lord you did a good job on that model. It looks like it could be filmed for a movie.
Great work one of the nicer looking Refits I've seen in while.
When i start working on my i hope it turns just as good .Amazing job sir
Phenomenal work! Very impressive.
One of the best lighting jobs I've seen...on any model.
Wow - thanks very much!
Wow!! You're talented!
Incredible work - stunning.
Thank you sir!
Very nice! You did a fantastic job!!! 🖖🏻🖖🏻🖖🏻👍🙋♂️
turned out awesome man!!
Very cool deflector dish effects! Same for the impulse drive!
Looks Amazing!!
Awesome work :o
Very nice job done on this ship.
Thanks very much Todd. I wish the video was better quality but I appreciate the comment.
Beautiful. I want one!
A job very well done.
Superb!

Nice job. Would you recommend painting the inside black to avoid the light from "bleeding" through the body?

So at the moment I am 3D designing a D7 Klingon Battle cruiser to 3D print in 1/100 and 1/200 scale. That is 7 feet, and 3.5 feet respectively.
I like it.
Beautiful, but the impulse deflection crystal dome should be blue.

hi one last question how do you keep the paint from fading over time ??
I really don't have that problem. All I would recommend is to use a good clear coat over the paint and keep the model out of direct sunlight.
Technically, the impulse engines are on, even at warp, when the ship is moving.

How much to commission a build?
how much was all the added features for the board ?
I can't remember but I bought the board from Tenacontrols, so all the features came with the board.

I noticed that too; also the photon torpedo launcher bays are constantly lit for some reason as well...

The impulse crystal does turn blue I just didn't get that on camera.
Are you selling this?
The model itself or the lighting board? I sold the model a long time ago and the board can be bought directly from Tenacontrols.
