  • This timber framed manor house was built in the early 16th century. The original Hall was built around 1540 by Robert Tatton, possibly on the site of an earlier medieval building. It was altered in the 17th century and partly re-built in c1797. It remained with the Tatton family for over 600 years, and is now owned by the Council. The Hall, and the surrounding 250 acres of park land, were given to the city by Lord and Lady Simon in 1926, to be enjoyed by the people of Manchester and beyond.
The Hall was extensively damaged, due to a fire, in March 2016.
The official re-opening was celebrated in October 2022. The Friends of Wythenshawe Hall are supporting the Council with the project of re-opening the Hall to the public and are currently hosting open days and tours on a monthly basis which are announced on their website Friends of Wythenshawe Hall.

I used to visit Wythenshawe Hall all the time as a child as I grew up next to the park, it used to be open to the public all the time. I am pretty sure this is where my love of history started. Great video thank you.

It looks nothing like It used to look. They've made a mess of It. It didn't have carpet on the stairs, the floorboards creaked as you walked on them. They charge an entry fee now, disgraceful. The house and park were left to the people of Manchester In lord Simons will, for us to enjoy, free of charge. Manchester councilors need looking Into, the greedy shites.
