    The Sympl bag is the best travel pack I’ve ever owned. And great review.

    i feel for a travel laptop bag shouuld have an expansion ability. When you get to your location nice to have somthing a little more compact when you are not carrying everything. Also nice have extra space either coming or going.

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Před 3 měsíci

      Yea , it's a good feature. About half the travel bags I've seen do have expansion.

    It reminds me the materials of my Nomatic travel backpack, inside and out

    • @EDG

      Yea for sure. I’ve never owned a nomatic bag, but it looks like one of sure

      I have the sympl travel pack and the nomatic PM camera bag, along with multiple other nomatic bags. The sympl packs materials are WAAAAYYY better than nomatics material. 100X more durable, more supple and look way better.

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Před 4 měsíci

      @@user-zv9iz6vr4o nice! Yea that’s was my suspicion as well. The Sympl is built really well and it’s a smaller company, so for the Nomatic to beat it, it would have to use legit premium materials. How do they compare as far as functionality in your opinion

    • @user-zv9iz6vr4o
      @user-zv9iz6vr4o Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@EDGI personally prefer the functionality of the sympl bag, It’s more thought out for real life use. The nomatic is overbuilt and kinda gimmicky which makes it actually more difficult to use and a LOT heavier. I don’t ever consider grabbing my nomatic bag for travel, it’s always the Sympl without a doubt. And I travel a lot for work, surfing and snowboarding.

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Před 4 měsíci

      @@user-zv9iz6vr4ook that makes sense. Yea the Nomatic is a camera bag so I’d expect it to be a bit more built, but I was surprised at how freaking heavy it is! Does it feel significantly more protective than the Sympl? I feel like the Sympl is protective enough for most uses cases, even with a camera in it. But yea, for travel there’s no contest

      Hey, thanks for commenting, I love getting questions like this. A few questions - When you say weekender, is it to travel 3-5 days? Or truly to use on a short weekend trip, like to 2-3 days? What would you ideally want to use it for?

    • @TheJulebrusHorror
      @TheJulebrusHorror Před 4 měsíci +1

      @@EDG I have to travel a bit for work, and so I need a backpack where I can have passport, sunglasses, wallet, waterbottles, two laptops, chargers and cables, light jacket / sweater and at times folders or papers. Everything from 1-5 days

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Před 4 měsíci

      @@TheJulebrusHorror Nice! I would for sure go with a travel style pack, so either the Patagonia or the Lowe Alpine. Then the question is Price and volume that will help make your choice. I reviewed the Patagonia Black hole on my channel if you'd like, it's a great pack.

    am i able to open the main compartment half way to stick something in like a jacket? if theirs nothing in the zipper pockets? i love the 25L weekender the size of this just makes so much more sense, i wanna be able to open the backpack halfway to stick something in quick if its not full all the way. PS, want to use this as a personal so hoping it'll fit under the seat when its not fully packed. will have another carryon/checkin

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Před 3 měsíci +1

      yea you can. check out the video at 6:45. tThe backpack opens with 2 zippers like normal so you can half open it. And the zippered mesh on the inside opens clamshell style, but open enough where you can stick stuff in , in a pinch. It's a little big, but should be able to fit it under seats without a flight attendant saying anything.

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Před 3 měsíci

      @@CalvinDucky I don't, but are there any questions I could maybe help with? TBH, the weekender seems like the better buy for you, especially because its on sale now so it's $100 cheaper than the 35L. This 35L, with all its structure, isn't large, but it doesnt compress so it "feels" large.

      @@EDG was your backpack full when you fit it under the seat? was it big plane small or medium :o
      i'm still debating between the two just cause the weekender doesn't restock till june XD so i got some time to decide and i only use a backpack during travels... even if its gonna be empty most of the time? i did end up backpacking with a duffel on between flight in thailand so i did leave my luggage behind at the hotel would've been handy to have the backpack at that point ahaha
      i do have one worry if water would get in the sleeve where the straps go when its exposed out in the rain..

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Před 3 měsíci

      @@CalvinDucky it was pretty full, and it does compress a little bit since its hardshell. I've used it medium planes. It may not fit length-wise fully when it's flat on small planes, but even if it sticks out a little, a flight attendant won't really do much.

    Do you prefer this over the Aer TP3?

    • @EDG
      @EDG  Před 2 měsíci

      Oooo great question. I don’t think I really have a preference. I prefer the Aers is clamshell style more. Like it’s just a flap and a huge opening, versus this sympl , has some packing space on the lid and some packing space on the bottom.. but I like how this converts to a duffel so I can pair it with the backpack for carry-ons
