Your exhaust is full of old oil build up. You should build a big fire 3 feet diameter and lay it across the fire and move it around and you will see smoke pour out of it. ( Be sure you take it off the bike before you burn it out )😎👍I am watching you 👀👀
I’ve seen people do that! I’ve been running this bike and I think it’s burned off cause she doesn’t smoke like that first start now. It runs really good for having compression testing under 100psi
You are doing a great job. I have a1972 Yamaha TD2 even the same color and I am doing a total rebuild. I found a 21 inch front tire and rim on Ebay from 1977 TD2 it has a bigger front brake drum so I had to find a 77 brake assembly to ( old one would not fit ).The reason I put on the bigger front tire and rim assembly is they handle better. I had two 1972 TD2's and they were stolen. One had the same tank like you have and the other one was silver like the fenders. Good luck with your projects. Have a GREAT RIDE.
thank you! I toyed with the idea of changing it back to the original wheel but I think I'll keep the 21 up front. thanks for that tidbit of info. i thought I read that somewhere else too. sorry to hear yours got stolen. good luck with yours current and future projects! thanks again for watching.
Nice! I have a DT2 as well that I got running a couple of months back. I sent the top end off for some performance mods and a rebore as well as a new larger carb, waiting for the parts to come back, should be soon... Keep up the good work and thanks for the videos.
Thanks for watching! I may need to send the top end off on this one too because the compression test showed only 76 psi. I’ll see how she runs when I get it out on the road. Might just need rings.
Great job , great to hear it running .That was a good clearing of the fuel system you carried out and really worthwhile started sweetly and ticking over really well. The online filters are always a pain for leaking I removed mine from my xr because of small leaks all the time. Be good to see it out on the track soon keep it up .👍👍
Thank you! I think I’m going to throw the rear fender back on and try to take it up the road as soon as I can. I’m itching to see how it actually rides.
@@Garage2Trail I learned that one tiger hard way, left my fuel tank in evaporust for a week & the result was that it was like new inside, & I didn’t use the distilled water & the rust returned within 48 hours, second treatment & distilled water & a year on & it hasn’t returned

I suspect your Autolube is adding more oil i.e., working properly.
Yup! I was a little nervous and ran premix as well just to make sure it’s working. The smoke show confirmed it! 😆
@@Garage2Trail Do the same every time. "Trust but verify"
Flip the fuel filter around. Looking good.
Thank you! Didn’t realize I had it on backwards! 😆
Distilled water will stop the flas rusting
I didn’t know that, thank you!

Your filter is backwards. You will not be able to see the trash in the gas.
Thanks for the heads up! Someone pointed it out to me after I put this out and I got it corrected. I appreciate it!
Too much oil creates a lean mixture rather than a rich one, more oil = less petrol, just sayin :)
I got oil mixture stuck on the brain as “rich” lol. My vocab can be misleading sometimes! Thanks Tim 👍
