Travon Walker vs. Aidan Hutchinson vs. Kayvon Thibodeaux || Jaguars, Detroit Lions, NY Giants

- I dive deep into the film and the stats to find out what led the Jacksonville Jaguars to draft Travon Walker #1 and was it worth it.. I compare Walker’s college tape and NFL tape to Aidan Hutchinson of the Lions and Kayvon Thibodeaux of the Giants who were picked #2 and #5 in the 2022 Draft after Walker. After reviewing their film and stats I give you an idea of who I feel was best at pass rush, run defense, and how they succeed. I also tell you what I think of the Jaguars pick. I breakdown plays, techniques, athletic testing, off the field personalities and everything you need to have an educated opinion on the best Edge rushers of last years draft! Comment if you think the Jags should have picked Thib or Hutchinson!

Lions fans are thankful
Hahaha I would be too! Plus what a great matchup for the Michigan kid to play for his Michigan team!
@@TheTDTVmy mom and I went nuts when we heard the jags take walker
@@lionguy8959 oh man thats awesome!! I bet the whole state of Michigan was hype fr
As are Jets fans for the Lions NOT EVEN CONSIDERING Sauce.
@@thomaswatkins3686 he’s great but nah, we still take hutch in redraft
As a Lions fan, I could not be happier with how it worked out
God has his way of making sure things fall into place and are where they belong.

💯
You got that right. Thank You Jags. That's what happens when you fall in love with a combine warrior.
You knew it was mistake when the Lions set the all time record for how fast they got to the podium to make their selection. Baalke let his beef with Harbaugh keep him from making the right pick and that’s a fireable offense in my opinion.
The nfl had to tell the lions to slow down after that too cuz they couldnt get their commercials in 🤣
@@wassupfuqqly7195lol I was coming to say this.
Aidan Hutchinson was such an easy pick.. can’t believe they passed up on him 🤦♂️
Easy
Experts overthink it, lol 😂
😢
He did not want to be anywhere but Detroit born, born and bred, plus the system matters, just because a guy is a good player doesn’t mean they are right for the system you run, it’s also about personality fit with the team
@@Mistaletstalkaboutit100% Hutchinson is exactly in the right place for his talents to shine!
Don’t forget the Jim Harbaugh/Trent Baalke beef. Baalke didn’t want to give Harbaugh the satisfaction of picking one of his guys #1 overall. That SF marriage ended badly. This is another opinion
Honestly aiden was probably the better of the three
He was already being double teamed his rookie year and hes still putting in work
And through 4 games in 2023 the gap has widened even more. Hutchinson is already top 10 at his position. He has as more games with 6+ pressures (6) than the entire rest of his draft class combined (5).
No one's happier than Aiden Hutchinson, lucky stiff got to play for the team he loves and is living the dream . Go Hawks
We love you in Detroit Trent Baalke.
Cut to week 5 in yr 2 and Hutch now getting 1-handed interceptions on screen passes. Thanks Jags! 😂😂😂
I am working on a video to highlight how ELITE Hutchinson has been playong to start the year!
He’s a beast in the run game. AFC south had the 2 previous league leaders in rushing at the time Walker was drafted. If you saw how he played against Tennessee you would understand the jags didn’t get THE guy, but they got THEIR guy. He’s fine, they’re fine
Oh yea he arguably had his best 2 games against Tennessee! He will be a good player I think and the Jags overall are looking great. However, only time will tell if he will be the better pick than Hutchinson or Thibodeaux. They each had a strong season against the run as well
@@TheTDTV absolutely! I love that you pointed out the run defending w/ thib because I feel like that’s why the jags didn’t give him more of a look. Im definitely a biased fan and want the guy we got to be great, but I love that the other guys are showing why they should’ve gone at 1
Thing is the Jags could've traded down aquire more picks and still get their guy
As a Jags fan, I cursed my TV when we picked Walker. A season later, still not blown away by anything. He’s fast and strong, but nothing has made me feel good about the pick. However, he’s still really young and raw. Think he just turned 22/23. I’d be happy with 8 sacks this season. #gojags
Oh yea he still has the time and talent to keep getting better! I could definitely see an 8 sack season this year
walker also was drafted to help in our division its 3 good RBs in our division argubly the number 1 and 2 running backs in the league and walker was a big reason why we made the play off too
Yea I can see that thinking with the Jags front office some for sure. The thing is Thib and Hutchinson both looked better and graded better against the run in year 1. Walker has all the tools to keep improving and be the best of the group though!
No, he wasn't. Best of luck going forward though. I don't think anyone would call him a bust. He just seems uneven in his effort. That is fixable.
As a Jaguars/Lions fan - the answer is Hutch. Don't overthink it, we all know the answer
Hutch also has multiple interceptions, fumble recovers, and 9.5 sacks
Hutch is that dude! Wild the Jags passed on him
@@TheTDTV I was so happy/shocked when that happened. I love that the Lions got in trouble for drafting too fast. NFL wanted them to wait.
One of the worst draft gaffs in recent memory
Hutch didn't want to play for the Jags. He's where he was suppose to go. The Jags are very pleased with Travor walker. This is going to be his year. Lions are very team and I believe they will make a good playoff run.
Thank you Jacksonville! Been a Lions fan for decades and this was a gift.
I have heard so many Lions fans say that now! Jags fans must be pissed 😂
Glad we got Aiden and not Thibs
Appreciate all the time and effort that you put into these breakdowns. Nobody better.
I really appreciate it man! I have been grinding to grow my audience and these comments help!
A month into the 2023 season and as a lifelong Lions fan, I am ESTATIC that the Jags passed on Hutch and the Lions nabbed him.
He is a true difference maker on the field! And he's only getting better.
The draft gets too caught up in the stop watch and the tape measure
4 games into the 2023 season, it's quite obvious Hutch is having a Pro Bowl season, 3.5 sacks and leading the NFL in pressures. Thibs and Travon? Not even vaguely close.
It's still early man
@@detroitlionspistonstigersr6735And Hutch will only get better!
@@thebighousencaaattendancer478 I 100% agree with that all I was saying was to count the other guys off the map already is just ridiculous. Some players take a little more time to develop then they just dominate. Let's see 5 years from now. Could be completely different. But our lion fans are so bias they will only give credit to players that are drafted here
Hutchinson easily the best of the group
Funny that the league was mad at the lions for making the pick so fast
The Jags owner wanted Walker, the jags GM wanted Hutchinson. We knew who was winning that fight. Us Lions fans thank the Jags owner.
Man even as a chiefs fan Im so happy Hutch ended up in Detroit. It just feels right with the Michigan background! I will be releasing a Hutchinson video in 15 minutes so check it out if interested!
Lmao the underwear Olympics 😂😂😂
The Lions are VERY happy with how this played out. Thank you.
Thank god the jags drafted walker lol Hutchinson a beast
As a Lions fan, I absolutely think the Jags made the right pick. Love it!
I bet you do love it! 🤣
@8:28 look at the bend on Hutchinson has on this play. Walker always looks stiff, with nothing else but a bull rush. I was also surprised by Thib's ability to set the edge in this video.
Dude is a beast 😮
C'mon man we're talking about my Jags here. We drafted a punter over Russell Wilson 🤷🤣. I think we're gonna end up moving him inside eventually. He'll be alright
Great video
Pro ready without physical characteristics vs high school and college hype machine vs physical freak that is raw. Honestly they probably all will be successful in time Walker was the rawest of the three. Might not have the answer until their 3rd season
100% agree Walker’s story isn’t finished. I just wanted to reflect after 1 year. They should be solid to great NFL players
So glad the Jags like most other teams got blinded by that Georgia dynasty bullshit. Shit funny to me.
Great video sir
Thank you my man 🙏 I’m grinding to put out the best I can!
Total undervalued Hutchs leadership impact on other players.
Just tried to focus on film in the review, but Hutch is absolutely a huge leader for his team. It is awesome to see what the Lions are doing this year, and he is a HUGE part of it. Hope you enjoyed the video!
Walker gets overlooked I honestly forgot he was the #1 pick
Man he has to be the least talked about #1 overall pick in recent history right!
As a lion fan we love it! We got the hometown kid
Great analysis! Keep up the content.
Thorough and Fair evaluation on Walker. Stay tuned on his sophomore and junior years in Jacksonville. Overall, I think Walker was picked for his good upbringing and proximity to Jacksonville being a country boy from North Georgia. He had a good track record in high school and college. He’s considered a good locker room presence. Being a good team player is evaluated in NFL organizations.
It will be a very interesting next few years of development. All the tools are there he just has to learn how to use them
Hutch is everything you’d want plus really good.
West Central Georgia....don't call us North Georgia
that is a really poor excuse..
that’s everything hutch is
He is literally a steal as the second overall pick
It was a perfect example of drafting for need Josh Allen is great I geting 2 the quarterback And Travon Walker is good at stopping the run And hopefully will progress over time
Agree completely my man. Hope you enjoyed the video!
This aged amazingly. As a lions fan... Well, that is all.
Even better than I expected! Haha I have a new video breaking down Hutchinson’s monster start as well
Great video!!
Hutch also had 3 interceptions as a rookie edge, including one against rodgers
His rookie season was honestly incredible. He just looked the part of a young NFL great and I think he will keep building on that
he peaked as a rookie…

As a Jags fan I was and will be pissed off about this pick until he proves me wrong... and I hope he will this season.
Right! I’m hopeful he will show big improvement, but for now the pick looks questionable
He has a chance with his talent! It was so risky though with Hutchinson and Thib right there for the picking
Awesome video! I love the football
You are 💯 percent right….Walker haven’t showed me why he was a #1 pick….
I think Lions won that deal but who knows, it takes 3:years before you can really evaluate a draft. It just goes to show, it's not all about the underwear Olympics. Brian Branch dropped way down in the draft because he didn't perform well in the combine and thee Lions may have gotten the best defensive player in the draft 2 years in a row but we'll see how all that looks next year. I definitely think Branch was the steal of the draft this year but while Aiden was a great pick, the Jets getting Sauce was a really good get too
Yea in hindsight Sauce probably should have gone #1. However, Branch was a huge steal, Hutchinson was the best Edge and he went 2 and they traded back still getting their guy in Gibbs this year. Like you said we can’t fully judge it for a couple more years, but things looking great for Detroit early on!
I dunno, Witherspoon looked awfully good last night. That said, Branch was a steal at #45, and definitely helped beef up a lackluster secondary.
All of our top four rookies look really good, though Gibbs hasn't really gotten a chance to shine yet.
hutch plays as hard as he can on every single play. he’s relentless.. and it was all over his tape..
just crazy dumb.
Is this the best content on CZcams?? 👀 unbiased answer here.. YES
Got urself a new sub. Great vid.
Thank you for the support! I’m grinding to put out stuff football fans will enjoy
Travon one of the quickest BUSTS EVER!!!! but thanks JAX for giving us Aiden at 2
That was nice of them wasn’t it! Haha
@@TheTDTV about as bad as the billionaire owner of the jaguars asking the citizens of Jacksonville to pay a billion dollars for stadium renovations. When he has the money to do it and they're struggling with inflation and day-to-day life.
Travon walker is raw
For sure!! So much unrefined talent with him
Thanks Baalke!
Well, give it more time. Walker had 10 sacks in year two and is only getting better. Hutch was going to have more immediate impact but Walker is just scratching the surface.
Walker did show some good development in season 2! He needs to keep improving for sure to prove his worth of the #1 pick. Hope you enjoyed the video!!
I’m a jags fan that makes it a point to watch Walker every down that he’s on the field. His technique sucks and his football IQ is low. Frustrating as hell to watch.
Whatever the case is. We are very grateful to the Jags to let us have our Home town boy. Him and his T~Rex Arms lol.
Trent Baalke hated Jim Harbaugh from their 49er days and wasnt going to give JH the toppick. Baalke was all ego.
Say what! JH was in coll! What diff if Hutch gave Harbs #1 instead of #2! Stupid remark!
Amazing!
let's not forget his father Chris Hutchinson who is tied for 4th place all -time on Michigan's sack list with 24 sacks. I'm sure he taught Aiden plenty about how to get to the quarterback. thanks Jacksonville. There is no full-proof evaluation of talent and team fit, but I think it's way too early in all their careers to say we made a mistake. Some players are late bloomers, but those players usually aren't #1 overall picks either. Good luck and skill to all of them.
Exactly Aidan was just so much more prepared from day 1 and it has shown early in the league. However, all these guys are just getting started and I hope they all crush it!
LB Travon Walker career 5.5 Sacks 1 INT
DE Kayvon Thibodeax career 8 Sacks 0 INT
DE Aiden Hutchinson career 14 Sacks 4 INTs. Dude has more career sacks and INTs than both other players combined, and Walker is even a LB!! How many other NFL DE's had 4 INTs through their first 22 games? Can someone help me on that cuz I could not find one. Hutch is a beast, better than the other 2 players combined that he's compared to.
4 INTs is the most in 22 games by any DL!! Their is no question Hutch is that dude! Jags have to regret passing on him
say good things about a Lions player or the team and you get a like and subscribe!
I have 3 videos praising Lions young players haha I can’t help myself. They are awesome! I hope you enjoyed the video
I remember being really happy when the Lions beat Green Bay in week 18 of 2021 in a "meaningless" game where Rodgers didn't play in the 2nd half. Campbell and company pulled out all the stops, trick plays, fake punts, etc.
I admit I was totally prisoner of the moment, I was so happy the Lions beat Green Bay, but a lot of fans were upset because the Jags secured the #1 pick. Now, I know it has worked out perfectly well for my team, but in hindsight winning that game was incredibly foolish because if Balke was halfway competent Hutch would be the cornerstone of a truly terrifying AFC-favorite type of team. The Lions 100% should have tanked 😅. But I'm sure Lions fans would have been pretty okay with Thibodeaux. In an alternate universe, we are.
Thibodeaux would have been good but thanks to Baalke fumbling the pick you got someone ELITE!
Update Thibs looking like he's coming for the number 1 spot Edge overall
Hutchinson is definitely still in the argument but both guys are so talented they are leaving Walker in their dust!
Kayvon will be the best pass rusher in this class
I love me some Kayvon but he is not having the year Aidan is having. Year 4 year 5 Kayvon could be a monster though!
@@TheTDTV 😂 sure but Kayvon got 4 sacks already he’s lighting it up rn
It also says a lot when a 6TH ROUND PICK,James Houston,a guy out of a D-2 college managed to become an even better pass rusher than all 3 of these guys towards the end of the season.
Man as a lions fan...I still think Travon will be pretty good
Best mistake for the Lions sonce GB to Tony Mandrich over Barry Sanders.
All three have each played 5 games of the 2023 season and Aidan Hutchinson has been the best so far. He has 15 tackles with 4 for loss, 1 run stuffs, 4.5 sacks, 36 QB pressures, 1 pass stuffs, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception, 4 passes defended. Kayvon Thibodeaux has 11 tackles with 4 for loss, 2 run stuffs, 4 sacks, 23 QB pressures, 4.5 pass stuffs, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass defended. Travon Walker has again been the worst of the three with 15 tackles with 4 for loss, 6 run stuffs, 2 sacks, 13 QB pressures, 5 stuffs, 1 fumble recovery,
Update Thibs has taken off

am i the only one that doesnt think walker is that bad and is pretty good
He is a really solid run defender and he is still growing his technique! I think he can be great one day. However, reflecting after 1 year he did not look like he deserved to be pick 1 from the film I watched.
So in other words, a raw prospect looked raw in his rookie season…water is wet lol
he is amazing
How so?
He is a monster
How so really????
@@meschelledenbeste8168 I like my monsters to be scary.
1 season is still too early.
100% agree! At the end of the video I mention how Walker’s book is not finished. Only chapter 1 has been written. I can’t wait to see how he might develop! It was just an interesting time to compare. I hope you enjoyed!
Revisit this subject in 5 years
I would love to!! That will tell us a lot more than 1 season for sure 👍🏼 it was just an interesting time to reflect after a year
I hope we don’t look back at this pick and think “what if?” Aiden could have been the difference maker against a hobbled Mahomes last year, and if he got home once or twice, we could have seen the Jags get to the AFC championship.
I still think we are gonna see a 8+ sack year from Walker this year. Not great, but he’ll do enough to make our defense good.
I do think he will have a solid career for the jags honestly. I’m just worried about that “what if”
Lazy fans . Eagles led the league in sacks last year and they could not spit on Patrick Mahomes at least we were able to touch him.
Or...Maybe the Detroit Lions just have a better coaching staff...(Shocker, I know).
The Jaguars will win despite Baalkes interference
100% Jags have so much talent and a top QB still on his rookie deal!
Walker destined to be good not great
Said perfectly! He will always be solod but that’s not what you want out of #1 pick
You should do a updated video now bro, a lot of those takes are looking really foolish right about now
I plan to do a video at the end of this next season 👍🏼 Travon Walker is definitely making improvements!
To be honest. I dont think we drafted Walker to be an elite pass rusher. At least right away. Think they picked him up because the RBs we have in our division.
I agree completely! Although as I pointed out the others actually had better run defense seasons as rookies. Still Walker should be very good in that area and has a chance to develop great pass rush skills
@@TheTDTV yes. But I dont think they were asking them to drop off and cover either like Walker has. They put Walker in alot of diff positions last yr than Hutch or Thib had from my understanding. I dunno. Have to see if hes developed.
If that's even the case, it's really dumb. Walker ended up being the least effective against the run of the three, and I'm willing to bet a lot of money that all three of your division opponents still passed the ball more than ran. Then you have to consider that 11(non-conference games) is a much bigger number than 6(conference games).
did you say underwear olympics?
Hahahaha that is a common nickname for the NFL Combine because they are all in basically underwear
@@TheTDTV hahaha, ive never heard that before

Jags and Lions had joint practice this preseason and Walker did a good job against the Lions oline, Hutchinson got stonewalled by a rookie playing right tackle for the first time. Everyone knew Hutchinson was the more polished pick, Walker played a position last year hes never played before.

He is a aolid player who will only get better for sure. I just worry the Jags will regret not picking one of the other guys
Clowney became overrated on his play against Michigan. No denying he made a great play, but his hit on Michigan's RBis overrated. Clowney was a 1' talller and weighed more than 100Lbs than Michigan's running back so didn't even have time to secure the ball.
