  • Our current generation boot hardware has been rock solid and reliable for years now. We still think it's better than anything else out there, but we never stop looking for ways to make our boots ever better, looking for ways to further elevate our boots above the competition. We're stoked to introduce our new hardware system for 2023 forward.
    Here's the low down:
Ankle Lock - Our new ankle hardware is a simpler, 1-piece design utilizing a crimp-lock to hold the laces. This new piece is both stronger and lighter, while easier to use.
Articulating Roller Bearing Hardware - This new 2-piece design provides effortless lace-ups, with consistent over-foot tension, almost every single time. Although the multi-piece design is more complex, these pieces of hardware are super strong and have passed all of our rigorous field testing. This will be found on all boots, except the Granite family.
Construction - All of the hardware now uses a stronger steel and lighter alloy. Perfect for you ounce-counting, backcountry hunters.

I have all the confidence in the world the people at Schnees have done the research and testing but man I do love the lace lock system on the last model.

I have an old (12 years) pair of La Sportive Trango Alps with the d-ring locking system. Just impossible to get the forefoot lace tension right with the laces necessarily fed through the locking ring whilst you're trying to do that. A cinch might not absolutely clench the laces in place but works well enough and the presence alone of a d-ring lock would make me skip past any boot so equipped.

Schnee is the best book maker the world has to offer. I’m an Alaskan resident and and in the mountains upwards of 90 days a year, from dall sheep to moose. I use the granites and will never use anything else. They have outperformed every boot on the market hands down. The comfort and durability are unmatched. I can not recommend schnees boots enough! Absolutely the best of the best!🇺🇸💪👍🏔🏹🐏

Eventually I'm going to add a pair of Beartooths to my boot collection.

Actually I just bought the new generation beartooths with 200 grams of insulation . I also bought some Schnees Trail tech socks plus the mountain tech foot bed to go with the boots. The trail tech socks are the best I've used out in the field. They wick moisture from my feet very well.

Wondering if the bear tooth will come in 400g and 800 g insulation variants??

Not excited to see you going forward with Sympatex liners. I love your boots but myself and my friends have all had leaking boots. Customer service has been great, but that doesn't help when your feet are wet in the field.

I've had to send a pair back.. I always test my boots at home before going into the field with them. I agree, the sympatex is more breathable but less waterproof. I don't think it's a 'bad' liner but hit and miss. I would suggest testing them before using them.

I've tried them all except Schnees's. Send me a pair of the '23 Beartooth and I'll test/review durability of those ball bearing laces! 😉 Oh yeah...I'm local to MT too! Overall sweet boots.

I just bought mine 6 months ago. Can I send them back and get the new hardware?
