    Just picked up a 2014 Fusion SE with 8k miles at $19,500 with 1.9% APR in Maryland. I absolutely love it. It has a tremendous amount of room and great trunk space. Even the base model feels refined and not cheap.

    Great review! I drive the 1.5L EB and was surprised about the useable power. I also found the ride quality to be SUPERIOR to most cars in this segment. The front passenger seat could use height adjustment, but the default height setting has worked for my wife and I. Great car!! My wife has a '13 Optima and if I ever get up late for work, the keys to my fusion will definitely be missing!

    Had my Fusion Titanium for almost 2 months. I really liked it at the dealership, love it now. Great looking, inside is a nice looking quality interior and theres plenty of power for the everyday driver. Not sure why people are down on the My Ford Touch? It took all of 30 seconds to learn and the response time is very fast. The back seat room could be better but its just me and the wife, so not our problem. I didn't buy the car for fuel economy, wouldn't buy something I didn't like just to save 3 dollars every fill up.
    My other 2 choices were the Mazda 6 or the Accord. I really like the 6 but the Accord is just a blah car, nothing to it.

    Sport mode shifts later (a good thing for speed) and it stays in the gear you were in when you let off on the gas pedal which gives you some gentle low gear deceleration. All of this is great for windy roads. The rocker shifter on the gear shift is better than the paddles on the steering wheel. The paddles become useless in the turns because you can't get to them.

    I have a 2014 Fusion SE with the 1.5 ecoboost engine and I love it! I've put almost 30,000 miles on it in 2 years and have had nothing done to it but oil changes. I have found that my car gets the best fuel economy with 87 octane gas with out ethanol. Ethanol seems to really rob this engine of it's MPG's. Once a month I have to make a 600 mile round trip journey to my Army Reserve Center and I average 36 MPG per trip. I usually get around 40 MPG on the interstate at 72 MPH. In the city it drops to 34. I can get almost 600 miles out of a tank of gas. Driving against the wind and in extreme cold seems to lower the mileage. This car is also very comfortable. I can sit in it for almost 5 hours with out stopping and my back and knees are fine. Any other car I've had, I'd almost be crawling out of it after spending that much time in it and that includes the Buick La Cross I traded for this car. I've owned probably 10 cars in my life and this one is the best!

    I test drove the se with the 1.5L eco boost and I really don't know what you mean by turbo lag. To me the car had plenty of power and sounded great. You also mention that you only got 23mpg. If you did most all city that's pretty much right on par. The combined is 28 mpg that's city and highway.

    Why they didn't offer a liftback(hatchback but it looks like a sedan) in the US market is beyond me. Same trunk space, but it's way more usable, you can chuck 2 mtb's in the back of one of these cars with the seats down and a liftback.

    • @jimmyhoffa9
      @jimmyhoffa9 Před 9 lety

      Some do, but the issue is how testing is done and how calculations are worked out by the EPA. These typically favour small turbo engines.

    • @duca8063
      @duca8063 Před 9 lety

      turbo engines are very economical when driven very carefully but very sensitive to driver inputs, push it a bit harder and economy drops immensely

    • @jimmyhoffa9
      @jimmyhoffa9 Před 9 lety

      Duarte Castelo Branco
      Ford engines are not as efficient as other manufacturers, like VW, for some reason. Possibly the small turbo's-meant to reduce lag and boost torque-cause it to work too hard at higher revs.

  • @1989rs500
    @1989rs500 Před 10 lety +5

    Things that this guy told WRONG
    The 1.5l ecoboost engine produces 177 ft pounds @ 1500 rpm whereas the 1.6 produced 184 ft pound @ 1900 rpm, that means the 1.5 spools turbo faster and lag is less, full turbo boosts up by 2000 rpm in 1.5 and 2500 rpm in 1.6, so 1.5 is way way better engine than 1.6, its more refined as well
    Another thing is low fuel economy of this car is due to weight, Fusion is the heaviest car in its class, gross weight is same as a Ford Edge v6,its that heavily built like a tank,so it cant pull that much weight without burning xtra fuel
    Also the seats being low, this reviewer is telling blunder, sure if there was option for height adjust it would have been fine, but according to cars dynamics a person will be more comfortable when hs/hr ass is as low as possible and when center of gravity gets low as possible car will stay more planted and more stable as well,this guy sits in car like he is siting in an SUV, he deserves an SUV not a sedan

      jandj Godwin the Ford website says the 1.5L Ti-VCT GTDI I-4 EcoBoost makes 181 HP @ 6,000 and 185 TQ @ 4,320

    • @1989rs500
      @1989rs500 Před 10 lety

      Autobytel I ve driven the car and the turbo spools @ 1500 rpm and full boost comes at around 2000 rp, if turbo kicks in @ 4350 rpm then wahts the use of a turbo at first place, maybe the turbo zone extends between 1500-4350 rpm plateu, but I am dead sure it spools up turbo pretty quickly and by 2000 rpm 1 can feel the torque

    • @tuolumne9
      @tuolumne9 Před 10 lety +4

    • @1989rs500
      @1989rs500 Před 10 lety

      n777ua prove me wrong, i have driven almost all turbo entries in segment and the engine/transmission combination with least lagg comes from VAG cars,second is ford and most of the cars have turbos spooling as low as 1500 rpn but by 2000 rpm only they get full boost and by that rpm only one can feel the torque whereas in VAG engines one will feel the torque as low as 1750 rpm

  • @campyhub
    @campyhub Před 9 lety

    I have a 2014 Fusion with the 2.0-Liter EcoBoost engine, i.e., the bigger one than the one in this review. In 3,000 miles, the overwhelming majority of which was local driving, I have managed 27.4 MPG (those are US gallons for our UK pals).
    That was achieved by having a feather foot. That's all you need with an engine this powerful. If you give into the temptation to have a lot of fun and stomp on that awesome turbo, your mileage will suffer greatly. That shouldn't be at all surprising.
    But the 2.0 has the power when and where you need it. This car is a rocket. It scared me during the test drive but now I have it purring like a kitten.

    Volkswagens 1.8 liter turbo gets the advertised fuel economy with the stated performance without a name like "ecoboost"...I think the Ford motor needs to provide the meat of its power at lower rpms, like vw, to improve fuel economy

    • @1989rs500
      @1989rs500 Před 10 lety +1

      Yup, all praise for that damn awesome DSG gearbox,that and the ZF transmission are the worlds best transmissions that has 0 transmission loss,cuz gearshifts at lightning quick speed and it has the ability to downshift and up shift quicker and does that with better judgement, that makes all the difference
      Also Fusion with 1.5 ecoboost is as heavy as a 1.8 TSi with DSG Passat in gross weight, so it dosent get the advertised economy nor power

      Thats bullshit, Drive in a Major city with traffic. These turbo engines suck up gas at light to light driving. I drove like a Grandpa at first and watched the gas estimate, then drove as I usually drive. The difference was 1 MPG, not me, its the lights on every corner. My old lexus got better mileage and it was a big V6, its the turbos.

    • @jimmyhoffa9
      @jimmyhoffa9 Před 9 lety

      Keith Dionne Not true per say. It's the inner city driving that sucks gas with the big V6 engines, they use so much fuel just idling, whereas the more efficient turbo engines use less. On the highway it's more equal. A crappy engine by Ford is the problem here, not the basic small turbo engine concept.

    The complexity and expense of a turbo for the same mileage and power as a V6? No thanks, no substitute for displacement

      @jimmyhoffa9 Před 9 lety +1

      Well there is a substitute for displacement, but anyway. The problem these days is that these turbo engines are not expensive per say, it's just that mfg's have gotten incredibly good at building decent NA engines incredibly cheaply.

      In Europe our 2.0L engines with almost 220 Hp get the same MPG as this crap 1.5 as result we have to pay the same gas guzzler Tax in this 1.5 engine duo to Extremely poor MPG

    Where are the diesel engines? Every car company is selling awesome diesels in Europe and Asia, here we get jack s&^%. If this was a diesel, it would get 50 to 60 miles a gallon. In Europe, their gas cost about 1.5 times of US, but their mpg is almost double, in some cases triple the US's. We are getting screwed here.

    no one cares about your opinion of what you believe is good or not. just review the car for what it is. everyone is different and will not see the car the way you do or how you believe to be good or not. seriously stop telling people what you like or don't about the car but just review it for what the car is. so annoying to see all these people reviewing the car complaining what they like or dont like.

    • @tylerenglert5782
      @tylerenglert5782 Před 7 lety +4

      Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines 'review' as "a critical evaluation" (Review). Possible synonyms include critique, examen, and to criticize (Review). Knowing this, you should be aware that any review (or any good review) is going to show the bias of the examiner and what they feel "to be good or not." How do you expect them to "review it for what the car is" without "complaining (about) what they like or dont like"? If the parts you don't like were to be removed, the review would be as follows: "It's a Nissan Altima. It's red. It has a steering wheel, seats, and four wheels. It also has a trunk and a radio." Why would you want that?

    I drove one of these cars for about a week and HATED it. I usually drive a fusion sport V6 which I love. This car was terrible though. There were times, when you accelerated slowly, it like jumped when it shifted. It was not a comfortable car to be in. The center console is just weird. Especially the bottom of it. It's also a 4 cylinder vehicle. There was literally no power to the car. You had to force the thing to go. The gas mileage is no where near 47 mpg or whatever they say. I tested out the mpg on the highway and got 27 going at a constant speed of 60. In the city, it only got like 17. It also took me forever, every time I got in the car, to set up my phone to listen to music. The settings are all screwed up compared to the older fusions. Not only that, but that sound system was the WORST sound system I've ever heard. My brother has a 97 integra, stock sound system that sounds better than that. I turned it up one time to test the sound, from then on the speakers cracked even when it was barely turned up. There was only literally one thing I enjoyed about this car, the seats heated up in 1-2 minutes. If you're on the shorter side, I'm only 5'3, this isn't a car for you either. You can't see anything. That's probably why the seat moves back when you shut the car off because you had to be so damn far up, lol. I'm not 'dissing' ford considering, the only cars I've driven in the past 5 years are fusions, I'm just saying that this car is not their best. Other than that, I would never recommend this car to anyone.
