    The SE trim on these is so huge. Cloth/leather, small screen/big, 17 inch/18 inch wheels, 2.5/1.5/2.0 engines… they later went back to having an SEL trim to make it less confusing

    • @RhinoXpress
      @RhinoXpress Před 2 lety +2

      Fords natrious for have one trim level with many equipment package options within a trim level.

    It’s crazy, my mom owned one just for it to get rear ended three days later. But it was a great car. I really recommend these for the money

      As long as one does not get the 1.6 EB, they're excellent. The 2.0 EB would be another engine I'd avoid, but still not as bad as that 1.6. I love my 15 Fusion Hybrid with 120K. I drive my Hybrid like it's a Porsche 911 on the Autobahn, and it never gives me any hints of an issues. It's just quiet, comfortable, good looking, reliable, and decently nimble. I've been adding upgrades like LED headlights, new speakers, etc to keep it relevant against the new cars on the road because I plan on keeping it for a while longer. I bought it with 50K and have owned it for 4 years. I have put 70K hard miles on her without a single issue. I have no doubts she'll see 200K without any issues.

    I think it is a mistake for Ford to give up on cars/sedans. The Japanese & other foreign automakers are not. They want to focus on SUVs/Crossovers, so they left the sedan market in which they make less profit. The Fusion had competed with the Camry and Accord

    • @tedharveyiii5194
      @tedharveyiii5194 Před 2 lety +7

      In 2014 I had a choice between the Fusion/ Camary/ Accord and choose the Fusion SE Ecoboost 1.5L. Fuel mileage and how it was optioned was what won me out. The base SE shown here leaves much to be desired as my SE came with leather and power everything along with a moon roof. The one thing I do wish it had was a more up to date infotainment system...that little screen is the only thing holding it back from be a great vehicle. However, if that's all I have to complain about with 115k miles and counting, I feel I made the right choice. Wish Ford kept fighting for this vehicle segment.

    These are good looking cars. Ford made good use of Aston Martin's designers. The twin turbo Ecoboost ones are absolute sleepers.
    Meanwhile, the Japanese and Koreans are still proving that there is a market for sedans.

    I loved this generation so much, I ended up buying a 2020 Fusion SE new in March 2020 for 15k, it was about 10k off of MSRP. We loved the car, very sophisticated vs our Chevy Sonic that we traded in. Sadly, I didn't do my research on the car and it's 1.5L engine. These engines are notorious for coolant intrusion into the cylinders which eventually kills the whole block. Ours consumed coolant from new, Ford claimed it didn't even though they had to refill the coolant regularly. Add on top of that, it had a few electrical bugs that would prevent the car from starting every once and a while. Once the car market inflated, we took the opportunity and sold it for 23k which was almost MSRP! It was a nice car, I should have purchased one with the larger (more reliable) engine. We ended up purchasing a used Lexus as a replacement, it has been a lot more trouble free 😊

    • @sethe171
      @sethe171 Před rokem +3

      Ford replaced the engine block for 2020 models so coolant intrusion wouldnt be an issue anymore. Sometime in 2019 they made the switch because of so many warranty issues. Your 2020 model fusion would have the new, revised engine block. The 2020 models and late 2019 models dont have the issue youre claiming. Very disturbing youre making these claims about a 2020 fusion when Ford fixed the engine block! I believe youre lying, and didn't buy a 2020 model.

      That 1.5 was one of the worst modern engines Ford ever made. Sorry you had a bad experience.

  • @RhinoXpress
    @RhinoXpress Před 2 lety +8

    This current gen fusion went through 2 mild facelifts actually. The 1st one was in 2017 and the 2nd one was in 2019. I mean, unless you were really looking at the car, then you really couldn't tell the difference between a 2013-2015 fusion. a 2017-2018 fusion and a 2019-2020 fusion.

      I had a second gen Prius and now have a 2015 Fusion Hybrid, and it's leaps and bounds better than the Prius while still getting similar MPG. I did get mine without the touchscreen because I like having buttons and don't want to deal with an lagging screen, but I have leather, heated seats, etc. SE Luxury package is the sweet spot for me.

  • @lethargicstove2024
    @lethargicstove2024 Před rokem +1

    I have 2014 SE with 90k my only complaint is it has the 1.5l Ecoboost which has a ton of issues and I would've preferred the 2.5l duratec but mine has no issues so far after owning it for around 2 months, I think before it gets to many miles I'll sell it and buy a Taurus or crown Victoria Because they're both more reliable.

    • @OhPhuckYou
      @OhPhuckYou Před rokem +1

      The Fusion is more reliable than the Taurus as long as it doesn't have ether of the EB 4 cyls. The 1.5 is the worst of the two. The 2.5 is the best conventional engine, Sport Trim have the 2.7 EB and haul butt, and the Hybrid has the 2.0 Duratec and gives you Toyota level reliability thank you the HF35 eCVT.
      The Taurus isn't bad at all, but you're still looking at the 3.5 V6 with it's timing chain driven water pump, some suspension issues, and the same potential transmission issues that the Fusion, Edge, Escape, and Explorer face; all using forms of the 6F trans.
      The Crown Vic is bulletproof. I know from personal experience how much absolute sadistic abuse they'll enjoy. Yes, a Panther can jump like General Lee. Yes, a Panther can blow over curbs at 30 MPH regularly, 55 if you have the Interceptor wheels and tires. Yes, a Panther can go 64 mph in reverse. Yes, a Panther can do Rockfords and Doughnuts all day long. Yes, a Panther can go mudding. Really, there's not much a Panther can't do. Pre 2001 4.6 V8's do burn oil, so watch out for that.

      @lethargicstove2024 Před rokem +1

      @@OhPhuckYou I'm grateful that my parents bought me the car I'm 16 but I honestly wanted something like a panther platform but they said it was too old, and if I could go back and get a 2.5 fusion instead of the 1.5l I have I would get it. I don't like the feeling of turbo engines either, I like N/A more.

  • @davinp
    @davinp Před 2 lety +1

    That screen is too small and Ford began cheap not including a backup camera which was available in 2014, however it didn't become required by law until 2018

    • @OhPhuckYou
      @OhPhuckYou Před rokem +1

      The backup Camera was made standard in 2015. The simple Sync system like this car has was standard, but most people upgraded to the MFT. I intentionally bought my Fusion without the MFT knowing the issues the MFT had, and knowing I wouldn't utilize any of the features the MFT has. It looks dorky, but the little 3.5 inch Sync radio was much less troublesome and easy to use. It didn't even need to have a screen as it's a basic Bluetooth stereo, but I'm glad Ford gave it a screen as it works well for the backup Camera and makes a base radio look a little more capable. Kia did the same with the UVO system by giving it a small 3.5 inch screen on their base stereos, but then again, UVO was made by Microsoft too. Toyota, Honda, VW, Chevy and Dodge just slapped a normal radio readout from the 90's on their base stereos.

      the 2.5 duratec is super reliable

    • @OhPhuckYou
      @OhPhuckYou Před rokem +1

      Two most reliable engine options were the 2.5 and Hybrid. The Hybrids don't have any common reliability issues besides an output shaft bearing on early HF35 eCVTs, the 2.5 had a 6F trans that could have reliability issues.

    On second thought, I'm generally hate modern sedans and hatchbacks because
    👉low ride height 👈
    So low that for typical backroads .... Front bumper easily bottomed out.
    On modern SUV & crossovers have ground clearance of 80's sedans...
    Yeah my foot, so much of lowering vehicle height does effect laboratory fuel and emissions tests...
