I loved this show , it was shown in the late 70’s in the UK on Saturday Morning kids tv , her laugh was hilarious 🤣 I would have been 12 years old in 1979 and used to sing to the intro song , still remember it now , every word 👍🏻 back in the day when tv was fun and the world was a far more lighthearted place to live in . How times have changed 😢

Not only is Phyllis Diller a Brilliant Comic, who's written all her own material... she's also an extremely talented artist .. AND.....a Concert Pianist!
    She is a national treasure.

Funny Funny show. Really should be released on DVD. Nothing on television today even compares to shows such as this & Love On A Rooftop. This was a superior & innocent time of television. Wonder if a dvd release is possible?

A great loss. We will all will miss you. Back when comedy was clever not the rudeness, cheap shock "value" like some (Griffin, et al). Phyllis was part of my childhood and The Pruitts of South Hamptons was the perfect vehicle for her tallents. Just the funniest one liners in the business. Great clever timing and a humbleness made her so special. Thanks for a great childhood Phyllis, God Bless you.

Does this show provoke memories of early 1967! At that time, Phyllis Diller became my idol, which she still is! Unfortunately, I saw this program on black-and-white television, so this is the first time I've seen it in color!

Haven't seen it in 40 years, and I still remember the intro. I remember one episode they were passing a teabag around for everyone to use, Phyllis says its a family heirloom.

This is a Filmways TV show, the same guys who gave us The Beverly Hillbillies, The Addams Family, Petticoat Junction and Green Acres. Those shows were so hot in the mid 60's, anything Filmways did was gold, and ABC jumped on this one, thinking it would be a hit.. it lasted a half-season.

And speaking of Filmways TV and Green Acres, Eva Gabor's husband at the time, Richard Brown, was a vice president at Filmways.

Deliriously entertaining, even now, and that's an all-time great opening theme song. Please, somebody, somewhere, find, clean up and re-release this material (if they can sell outtakes from old war newsreel footage on DVD as must-have archival collector's items, and recycle old hurricane and earthquake footage as Weather Nostalgia every weekend on cable, why can't we see this deeply silly show again?).
    Thanks again, Miss Diller.

there seems to be quite a few fans on here that would love to see this series on DVD. Please go to the Shout Factory website...there is a posting there requesting Pruitts be released on DVD. The more people that support this, the better the chances it may get released onto DVD.
I would love to watch all 30 episodes.I have seen 3 episodes and they are hilarious...definitely a show that deserves DVD release. I am surprised it is not in syndication.

How did Phyllis do this opening song with a straight face? I bet they had many takes on this. I have no memory of this show, and I'm 53. Man sweet Phyllis has been around for a long time, and she didn't start her career until after she was in her 50's if I remember correctly. She already had about 5 kids. Well the is 92 in July '09 and when I saw her on Jay Leno last summer she was really funny, gained weight in her belly and butt, but good for her. She paid her dues hope she's doing great!

Phyllis had the unfortunate circumstance of being opposite "THE RED SKELTON HOUR" and "NBC TUESDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES" in the fall of 1966. In mid-season, ABC moved the series to Fridays, "tweaked" it a bit, and it was retitled "THE PHYLLIS DILLER SHOW"..and was cancelled at the end of the season. Nice theme by Vic Mizzy!

I love the premise of this show which is that the IRS has decided that the Pruitts can keep the trappings of wealth (their mansion etc) because if word got out that they were totally broke it would affect the national economy! Who knew the IRS were so kindhearted lol.

Me too, but the only line I could really remember was the 'Ask the butler to lend you a buck, my dear". Now that is really poor. Can't say I cared much for the show, though. Hate it when people try to rip you off, which is why I hated 'Sargent Bilko', even though the name itself is hilarious.
