Takes me back to the days of having a large sales territory in the USA. Calling on retail stores, we'd all work like mad fools from September until the week before Christmas. By then, if it was not in the account, it was not going to be. A brief break, and then back at it in a few more weeks, pulling old stock and getting ready to do the spring summer sets. 1000 memories.
+Ima Blank , I used to work in the construction business and was invariably working away from home , and it was always a mad rush up until christmas and then the christmas eve drive back home and peace and the children for a few days . Good memories and the song nails it perfectly .

You DO all understand that he's poking fun at people who drive home for Christmas and hte whole christmas thing, don't you? Listen properly to the lyrics.
He said in an interview that he thought of the lyrics while driving between London and his country home where his wife and ??family were. It's nostalgic and syrupy, but it's not poking fun as I see it.
So love this every year I look forward to hearing it everywhere.
