They're actually trained to be this way when they first meet their new owner, to help the owner feel the loyalty the dog's going to give and generally build a bond. Its no less amazing, just interesting.
I had No intention to offend or trigger. I actually didn’t really know/still don’t really know the story behind why this gent needs a support animal so apologies for my ignorance
The dog could sense the inner sadness of him and I could see the dog felt drawn to him, not the mother. I just hope ptsd symptoms don't manifest themselves down the road. It must be horrific to watch your friends die
Half of the team doesn't recall the crash if you watched over interviews and stories. Being a hockey fan in America this deeply saddened to me that it happened to high school kids, and I kept up with the tributes and news stories and other videos made from the surivors but also made for the ones that were lost. The main thing is the ones that DO recall something, do recall ANYTHING, have that inner saddness, that PTSD, and even the ones that don't recall have the PTSD. It is called "survivors guilt", which manifests in the ones that are still on this earth, regretting why they are here and others that they knew aren't. One survivor recalled, that he feels he survived while others didn't because he was being lazy. The boys wore track suits onto the bus, and when they were about 20-30 minutes from the arena they would change into suit and tie, and they were less from half an hour from the arena where the crash had happened. One of them decided to listen to one more song, less than five minutes, but that prevented him from standing, and kept him sitting, while some that died were the ones that were already up and moving about getting dressed into their suits as he feels, and even recalled. There was one kid, that only ever played ONE game with the Humboldt Broncos, that was on that bus heading to his second game, and he died in that crash, His last name was Herold, and he was to inherit his parents' farm, and now he no longer will... its truly heartbreaking.
As someone with PTSD, with many colleagues to also have it, PTSD symptoms don't really go away perse, which in some ways is positive, in terms of healing. He went through something that will probably require the rest of his life to heal. Glad to see the progress he's made and starting a relationship with a service dog- I have dogs, not service dogs, but they no doubt are a huge part of keeping myself together. It's inspiring to see how those boys are handling this and the loss of their teammates/friends.
Katie Devries that kid was the one that had the chance of making the NHL one day. I don’t recall if it was actually only his second game or not. He had a billet family. Seems odd if he was only there for his second game
@@Royalsprincess1Thank you for your comment. I didn't know about the "fault of the survivor." But my best friend committed suicide a year and a half after having lived an extremely tragic situation. It was a recital where more than 200 kids died, including some of our friends. I remember that he kept saying that he didn't know why he was here, that he didn't understand it and that he felt like dead. We were so young, almost children. I wish I could have helped him more, I wish I had known what else to say or what else to do. But I didn't live what he lived. And I was only 15 years old. That's why I believe that schools should teach psychology or subjects that teach these things. We learn math, we learn chemistry, we learn about biology, music, art but we don't learn anything about our own mind.
We don’t deserve animals. They literally love us no matter what, unconditionally. People that hurt them are evil and have no soul. I just lost two pets within 3 weeks and feel lost. They are family
My boys play hockey. When this happened we all put our sticks outside for respect. Even some tim Hortons made their door handles little sticks. They’re always in my thoughts
Such a beautiful moment for these 2 ❤ My family and I have been wanting to get a service dog for me for about 2 years now. I developed PTSD from a trauma related to domestic violence. I also have a disability from a nerve disorder that effects me daily. Unfortunately, when I have talked to people and organizations the first question I get is typically,"why"? I inform them I have PTSD and a disability but I'm needing a companion for my mental health more then physical. Typically I'm then asked "okay so when did you serve"? (Meaning Military). When they find out I'm not military they say they can't really help me... Someday I truly hope to have this moment. I feel like it is such a blessing to have a companion who is there for you on your good and bad days. (I've had my far share). Truly so happy for these 2 and such a wonderful organization ❤ My thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the crash and I hope he finds peace with Chase
Hi my name is Jane. I also have PTSD. From a Domestic Violence situation that injured me really bad mentally and physically. I wanted to tell you that an emotional support dog can be found in your local humane society. You can spend time with each dog or cat. I did that. And have a small cat and a big senior blond boxer named Joey. Oh my goodness. We are like 3 peas in a pod. Let me know what you find okay. God Bless You! Never give up. Because you are a great woman. Sincerely, Jane
Hey, try Doggie do good, They train service dogs for those that have ptsd and such that have NOT been in the army/military. Prices are low and they take special requests if you want a certain breed such as a Yorkie and more. if you want to know more just reply and I'll explain more, I know a few people who have service dogs from there and the company has a small series of the training and such on youtube.
Hi! i have PTSD for 4 different reasons none of which military as i'm only 16 and i'm on my second service dog. I also have other conditions one is called POTS so they're also for that. If a program is too expensive for you, i would recommend something called owner training. It's what both of my dogs have done. If you can't train them completely by yourself you can seek help from a trainer. My first one was helped by a family friend who owns a program and she's been working for a long time and is now 10. My second one is being helped from a petco trainer who has trained many service dogs for what i need. What i like better about owner training than a program is you get those two years to bond with your dog and be there every step of their training. You can also start using them before the age of two (depending on if your state allows service dogs in training) and once they know all the alerts and tasks you will have a reliable dog most likely before a program would give you it. If you want to do a program they can be up to 25,000 depending on everything you need. Most non-profits (you'd get the dog for free) don't do that for non-military. You'd get the dog around the age of 2 maybe later maybe a bit sooner. You'll go to where the program is located and usually work with the dog for a week and then a trainer will go with you home to basically make sure the dog will do good in things you do everyday or weekly. I hope this helps! If you need anymore help with this feel free to respond or you can always DM me on instagram. instagram.com/Kylee_Jersey.at.your.service
I have PTSD too. You can train your own service dog. I have a friend who has trained 4 service dogs starting when she was 10. Her latest she trained for her own person use. She has SPD and anxiety. If you can't get approved through an organization to be matched with a dog, I would highly suggest going the route of training one yourself. Her last dog was trained over the course of 1 year, but during that year, he was already identifying and helping her leading up to and during attacks.
I most humans don’t deserve the love dogs give. But this boy deserves all the hugs and cuddle this sweet boy is giving. I hope this helps him on his road to recovery, whether it be physical or mental. ❤️
Yes, I’m aware he is a trained dog. A very young trained dog. Who already clued into this boy. So my statement stands. Most don’t deserve the love dogs give and the help they are trained to give others.
Rosa Sutter i’ve seen you copy and paste this already on a few comments. it’s such a meaningful and sad story behind it that you can’t help but feel the love for it. it’s also sad you spend your time copy and pasting mean comments, patronizing people for showing compassion and positivity. and by the way, she didn’t say anything about the dog really, just saying that the survivor deserves hugs and everything, so ya kinda look stupid. have fun being negative on CZcams COMMENTS, “rosa.”
Rosa Sutter dogs chosen for service work are very intelligent and some like to cuddle. This could absolutely be natural. He might just be a very friendly dog.
I have a female chocolate lab named Lily. She is the sweetest girl who also loves to give hugs and put her head underneath peoples chin. He is going to end up loving that dog more than he knows. God Bless both of you.
This tragedy touched all of us here in Canada. Young and old alike. Just devastating. I pray for the well-being of this young man. Chase hugged tight and my heart melted. Best wishes.
My service dog was my best and most beautiful friend. But, because my issue was not physical, people were absolutely terrible to us being in public. People, when you see a service dog with someone, they need this friend- don't make things more difficult for them. Accept and honour them.
Stephanie Rubin I didn’t think this guy was very excited at all either. Especially when he told the dog to stop. Hopefully it’ll be a happy relationship
This was litterly less than six months after the crash. First off he was dealing with shit most of us have no concept of, thank God. Second, Graysen is a shy guy to begin with, not too fond of all the attention. Also he still had pain at this point so having a large dog jump on him probably didn't feel great, and everyone's triggers with PTSD are different.
The last time my dad smiled was when they brought in a therapy dog into his hospice facility. I'll never forget that moment. Dogs are an absolute gift. Was this service dog for PTSD?
Service dogs are amazing. I have a Standard Australian Shepherd that does alerts and DPT for panic attacks and seizures. It’s amazing how they can pick up on it before I even realize what’s going on. If I miss the first alert, my dog will do a more forceful alert where she gets up on my hip letting me know that I need to lay down because a seizure is coming. Though, I do wish people wouldn’t kiss at her ,try to touch her or distract her when in public. Makes me anxious. I hope whatever trauma he has is helped with a SD.☺️
