    Blair Witch was different, unique for its time. The type of movie that never should have gotten sequels solely because Hollywood can't be trusted to make good movie series' very often.

      Yeah but unless you make the sequel(s) you never know if they could have made a great series or not. It's the old sports cliche "you miss 100% of the shots you dont take".
      TBH I never thought this movie was all that great or scary. Stuff happened but...not really. And I was really disappointed we didnt see the witch at the end.

  • @sasugakirin
    @sasugakirin Před 2 lety +4

    I thought the lights were just the forest entity in its true form. The guy couldn’t see anything in the light because he couldn’t comprehend what he was looking at, and the lights were behind the door because it was in the process of taking the form of or possessing the body of the scary tall thing.

  • @rmillerridlon
    @rmillerridlon Před 2 lety +5

    I was going to say those lights look a lot like the lights I would get from helicopters when I lived near a hospital that got copters in regularly. The sound and the pattern of the lights were just like that. I agree with the search party theory.

  • @ajbonine69
    @ajbonine69 Před 2 lety +6

    Well, the witch has him now. Yep, mind blown. When I saw the first film at the drive in, having viewed the supplemental faux documentaries, I totally bought into that all the events were the influence of the witch, and the ending gave me quite a chill. That the film has so much depth and is so open to interpretation really separates it from most of the found footage films that followed. The second film was a grave miscalculation, but an interesting concept undercut by studio interference. I think a greater mythos and presence beyond that of the folkloric "witch" definitely explains these films better that attributing it all to a single tortured woman's revenge.

      The original film is a true masterpiece of horror. No other film in history has ever truly frightened me. I saw it opening weekend (I was in 11th grade) so nobody knew for sure if it was real or not. The theater was loud and packed but by that ending it was COMPLETELY SILENT and everyone left single file like a funeral.

Also I had a few questions about the Blair Witch. 1. Did the Blair Witch or Rustin Parr have children? 2. Could they have killed Heather Josh and Mike? 3. Could TBW be a cosmic being(like Cthulhu is.) Where if you did see her you would go insane? 4. In Book Of Shadows TBW2. What was that yellow liquid they were using on the one patient? 5. I've always taken the scorched earth approach to those movies. I'm lost in the woods, a scary ass witch is after me, I'm probably going to die... Step 1. Pull out a pack of matches. Step 2 burn down the forest. If you start a fire and it starts burning down the forest then either the fire will kill you or you can just head steadily away from the fire and ideally survive to reach civilization. Sure you'll probably go to jail for arson but no one will mess with you when you told them you burned down a forest to escape a witch.

  • @metalcoffie
    @metalcoffie Před 2 lety +10

    My interpretation of the 2nd movie has always been that, since in our real life Blair Witch was marketed as "real" with the fake documents that were on Sci-Fi and all of that, and actually having a surprisingly large number of people fall for that, thinking I was real found footage, they used that in the sequel. In Book of Shadows, The Blair Witch project was released in theaters AND was REAL found footage of actual people in that universe. The thing that always gets me in Book of Shadows is the ending. Is it that the video tapes are true and our characters have been hallucinating or manipulated by the witch, with their personal interpretation of events, OR is the twist that the witch can actually manipulate and change the video tape, (putting to question ANY footage in the series as a hole) and everything the characters saw and felt was real? If feel like it's kind of open ended for you to pick how to view it....but I feel like I'm the only way who thinks of it that way, or that much at all. LOL

    Not for nothing but in "Burkesville Seven" (I think), it was heavily implied that Parr didn't actually kill anyone. It was in fact, one of the kids who then, as the soul survivor, blamed him for the killings. Not sure how that effects any theories regarding him, just mentioning it.

    Yes I did think U.F.O when the light came through the window in the 3rd but I didn't take that idea seriously, it being a searchlight from the search parties is good as is it being slowed down lightning which also accounts for the sound, but I guess we'll never really know, and in the end isn't the mystery what we really want.

    I have stopped 3 mins in to comment. Great video post so far thank you. Im upto the theory it was the lady in town. Only thing is - the guy Josh was lured out in the middle of the night. Presuming he was. Assuming an older lady couldn't sneak up and carry him out of his tent. Or trick him? He's within earshot of Heather and the 2nd guy. They shout him to guide him back but he doesnt. he seems scared out of his wits and assuming he didnt walk 100 feet to take a piss, or walk around investigating strange noises like a Friday the 13th character until being ambushed, but he's clearly sounding like hes calling from multiple directions in each cry before they zone in on him. That scene is already underway when it is recorded, and they are bewildered at him. Its like an auditory hallucination they are both experiencing yet in the real place if that was to be a physical trick he was somehow moving around his friends im the dark in an almost circular fashion between screaming - and doesn't come back, Ther is also the fact thst the woods seem to lead them in a circle, a full circle before they really start to loseit with eachother and themselves. Every step they take after this is when it seems like the spell or spells, power, or what have you closes in it seems. There are ways to rationalize this I know but it really seems like the witch is real when I consider Josh's disappearance as they are already heightened, fraught and scared at that point so unless there were other people in cohorts and they could go in grab a guy get him away all without him fighting back and rousing his friends - IN THE PITCH DARK through wild untamed woodland, that seems truly less believable than the witch being real, calculated patient, practiced, enjoying the different stages of the spells and getting their fear factor so high, for so long - like she gets stronger throughout - like she takes them emotionally first along with the woods taking them physically, its truly a creepy and brilliantly sinister notion that i find believable and fucking brutally terrifying. The possible ways to interpret this movie is way scarier than anything it shows which isnt alot. Genius film making but unbelievable greatly executed storytelling that plays on our fears as children, and our rational grown up ones simultaneously. And I love that. You're not supposed to use 'and' to start a sentence, but I just did.

    If we add in the next movie(not book of shadows) lore it would seem there had to be a killer that the witch is using probably josh or Mary Brown as the witch only kills those who look at her, Mike at the end is following that rule and Heather never sees her shes facing mike yet she is attacked from behind. Lets also examine the bundle of sticks Heather finds with Josh' hair, teeth , blood and clothing samples, this is not unlike creation of a Witches Bundle similar to a voodoo doll and is Used for various reasons in southern Hoodoo, one purpose of which is to can gain more power over a person via impregnating the bundle with there fluids, parts, and or personal items and yes even sometimes representing the binding of said person by binding the bundle with something personal, and would also give a reason for why his stuff alone was ransacked perhaps in search of personal items that could be used.

    I always thought Josh just suffered a stress and paranoia induced mental breakdown and murdered both Heather and Michael,potentially believing he was the witch (or maybe he suffered from schizophrenia,and he forgot or left his medication at home or in the car believing he wouldn’t be in the woods for more than 2 or 3 days) also I don’t think it’s necessarily that the first movie is just a movie in the world of Blair witch,I think it’s just their was a Blair witch movie made prior to book of shadows in the Blair witch world that was based on the recordings we see in the first movie,this would mean that the first Blair witch Movie in universe wasn’t the one we saw and in the first movie the audience must be assuming the role of the writer of the first movie,watching the tapes and trying to make heads or tails of it,just a thought

      I could see that Josh and Mike had the same intentions as Heather initially, to make a documentary. However, maybe they both had mental health issues that were exacerbated by being lost, starving and thirsty and became irrational. In that case maybe.

    I want you to know about the backstory about her being a Blair witch of Maryland where is the documentary been made about girls in legends of Maryland and not just that the filmmakers made one of them selves known as curse of the Blair witch where it only covered not just the original movie but also the story behind it and here it is if you want to use this as One of your unanswered questions been answered by me if you want to use it in the future video and here it is
    You would have to Trisha back to the early 18th century of the Blair town and in those days there was a woman that went by the name of Alec Edwards where she was going about her life and accused of being watching the town which means that they accused her of the sickness that was going on she told them no that she has nothing to do with any of this and that she has to be innocent to it since they cannot find her guilty oh is enough of it they allowed her to go home but the several boys do not believed her at all they took her out in the woods and hopefully that she will die of exposure but they tied her to a tree and poking at her with sticks and putting their hands on her was bloody handprints on her then left her for dead so she would die of exposure and since then she haunted the woods and for those who disappeared was blamed on her Eli Kenwards was accused which but was found innocent but yet she Who was the ones that did it to her and no I don’t mean anything sexual about it no matter something that they killed her so she would die I was exposure so 17 kids and children all those days went missing because of her ghost but everything went silent over those ears until they switch the town around and this was around early 19th century mid 18th century in the 19th century that would have came later on or so and then the story of Russia part came into the picture around the 1920s I believe it was where he lived in that house in the woods and he killed and murdered children under the influence of the Blair witch and he was found guilty and he was hand for his crimes that he committed I believe that he did it around amount of them was the fact 19 of them only one escaped so it turns out that he actually killed and murdered only 18 of them under the influence of the Blair witch but he died by Haney then years later there was other encounters with the Blair witch and that is when she got that title for elite Kenwards a.k.a. the Blair witch of Maryland and her A child went missing and that little lake and then there was a search party and they went to coffin rock and thus they were found murdered Anson you know the bodies was removed after they were castrated supernaturally by Elie Kenwards also known as the Blair witch and what time does chef party came for them they never found the bodies the original send the BRIT Awards Ray dormant people stop going into the woods on the Blair witch until josh and mike and Heather Donahue are wearing about this in there college
    And they decide to make the film at the same time during the book of shadows Blair witch what’s happening at the same time so that some meds it Josh that the book of shadows the bread which was a fact around the same time just a few years later on and so was the third film
    To answer what it was that was being seen in that old house was definitely her house there Donahue and her ghost made me that they are still there some people assumed that they are still missing and I believe that too and I know it’s just a movie based on what really happened to them and nobody really knows that’s why it’s known as found footage people send letters to their parents Sent or I am sorry that this happened to Mike Waters oh I’m sorry about that Josh wings in Aurora‘s last name is or Sam oh I’m sorry to the Donahues that Heather went missing or maybe they still are still missing but it’s hard to know what is reality and what is not found footage films I should know that makes it awesome so now you’ve got the story now you have your answer down here and maybe you can use it for your next questions and unanswered questions been answered I hope that you do use this so I hope that goes up to out with this video and I hope that you do use this in your next questions and answers by doing to answer this for you I am thinking that Josh never made it back to the corner when the directors in the writers Toma head back maybe he never gone there maybe that is why he went missing the Blair witch wait until they are alone then get them I played the commentary to the movie where they said that they came across the same tree branch again and the guy said maybe that there is something going on with this woods and we told Josh to go back home but he never went home he never got home maybe that’s why he went missing and I’m gonna wait to the house and maybe that is what they were hearing the distant echoes of him and they cannot find anything until they found the poorhouse directions and part house running around in the house trying to find Josh but never found him so various answered that the Blair witch took them both because they looked and saw Eli kill words for in the face and I want to go with this as a Siri or as an answer feel free to use it but other than that Josh I hope that you do use it because this is new information I’m giving you and all that I would like to know what you think about this
    As if you might make another unanswered questions Blairwood questions been answered and I want this to be a part of it if you do decide to use it maybe this might give you some answers of what really could have happened by my own theory alone other than that I hope that you do this, and actually use it in answers and questions and unanswered questions of the the overwatch films so I hope that you do use it so I hope that you do
    And by the way I always will love you Josh as a friend

    BW2 made sure not to talk about actors or feature any interviews with them from BW1. So i always make 2 in continuity with the rest of the series as in yes BW1 happened, yes it was real, assuming that somehow whoever released the movie got permission from the families to release it for one reason or the other. So BW1 happens. BW2 happens and most ppl think that BW1 was not real (sorta reversal of the real-life as the witch exists in the BW2 world). And BW3's witch appearance could be just an apparition or a shape the witch took specifically for the new generation of goobers ... Also there were 3 2000s BW video games in the continuity!

    On question 6 I'll play devil's advocate. Why can't the movies be reenactments? What about all the Historical movies and documentaries that have been made. For example, the Battle of Midway and Battle of Gettysburg. Are you going to tell those two famous battles are just fiction? I hope you aren't that ignorant.

    • @movietimelines
