- Today is my first cut with a reel mower on the Kikuyu! Today I cut it at 17mm with the swardman electra.

I did some manual aerating on my front lawn and the council lawn the other week which took me 4 hours to do then I chucked some granular bug killer, lawn fert and put some gypsum down since I got junky clay soil and I also gave it a nice drink of seasol few days ago and my kikuyu is going mental but then again we have had some good weather in s.a so far. I'm just waiting for a jealous neighbour to poison it or something since it's the best looking and only lawn in the hood since no one else cares about their yards.
Edge or no edge, Schnitty approves and that’s the main thing.

Lawn season is wrapping up here in the states so I'm going to have to live vicariously through you these next months. La Nina should keep you nice and wet. Should really push that Kikuyu to the next level. You've made great progress in a very short time. Well done mate.

Hey Ben, Long time lurker , first time commenter. Love your vids. I have a kikuyu lawn I’ve been keeping in check with PGR and I just ordered a Swardman Edwin 2.1 which should arrive mid dec.
Also I’ve been trying to rejuvenate my front nature strip to grow over the dead patches that occurred when my 9 year old decided to to write ‘HI’ in giant letters on it with my glyso weeding wand. 😂
Any more tips you can give me for managing kik with the swardman?
KIK loves reel mowing. Needs to be a super flat surface, may take 2-3 goes at top dressing to get it flat. And yes, PGR is your freind. I find 12mm the sweet spot if you can get it that low.

A nice stone or masonry retaining wall would look great and you would be able the level you front lawn perfectly. A lot of people are doing them lately in Sydney and they look amazing.

I know its a pricey tool, but I noticed theres a few inches of it sticking out the front when you measure it at about 5:36. Could you relocate the dial indicator by drilling another hole further up the bar so it works better for your Reel Mower?
Get the height of cut bar lengthened. Get some metal bar welded onto the end to extend it.

Been watching the series of the golf green. Decided I was gonna do same went out one morning and saw kikuyu seed growing through the couch. Not sure if that plan is plausible now🤔.

How do you get the gaps to fill in? I've got some gaps in my Kik/couch and I've put a but of sandy loam topdress on the gaps but it won't seem to fill in? Any tips?
Cut low. Kik will spread widthwise if it can't grow upwards.

Is there a way to remove the mechanism on that HOC bar and put it on another piece of flat bar that’s long enough to span the Swardmann rollers?
Couldn't see how many blades on the reel you were using, would the 10 blade reel be alright for this type of lawn?

I think you will end up enjoying the Toro more now since you have space to run it wide open on the speed and should do better the swordsman on the slope. I could see you had to push up a bit. Looks amazing tho as I defer my eyes from the wild grass in the background. Lol still not used to doing so much ain't you
Loving it!! Need some advice though, what is the best thing to kill lawn weeds but not grass from Bunnings? I kinda singed my grass with Roundup, whoopsy.

You did a mulch mow on the highest setting with a rotary, then went right to the Swardman with a catcher? Why didn’t you bag the rotary mow?
Only because the rotary is still picking up sand 👍🏽

looks great - what grass would you recommend by a pool? we want a large area for sitting on but mainly for looks. We are in Byron hinterland area with great soil.
I want one of those height of cut tools too. Could you drill and tap another hole farther down so it would work on the swardman?
Why not build the edges up of the front yard to be raised to be equal then have the path as the only sloped spot
Is that grass similar to bermuda? I've never actually seen that cultivar before.
