DAY 3: 10 Minute Beginner HIIT workout | No Jumping, Low Impact

  • Day 3 of our 7-Day Get Stronger in 10 minutes Challenge is a beginner HIIT workout no jumping that will burn calories and build strength. You'll get in 1200 steps, more or less depending on your pace.
    This low impact high intensity interval training workout in a pyramid format features only 2 exercises - done in rounds of 20 seconds, 30 seconds, 40 seconds, then back down to 30 second and 20 seconds. The goal is to ramp it up during the exercise intervals and slow it down during the rest periods so your heart rate increases and then lowers.
    Here are the two exercises:

    Yay! Day 3 and counting. Thank you, girls, for the invigorating workout! These workouts are the perfect length and intensity for me, because I would not be able to do any longer workouts on consecutive days. I am hoping that after the program is over, I will be strong enough to continue working out (longer) for the rest of the year. I am 78 and always look up to Aiko as a role model. I would like to get back the strength that I had before the pandemic. All the "stay-at-home" restrictions have really affected me, although I tried to exercise with CZcams videos. Now I am very happy to have discovered you, because you are the perfect fit for me. - Grace

    So I discovered the two of you during Christmas. I am not new to working out but watching Mom get in the groove with you I am hooked. She is a kick to watch and the relationship between the two of you is so much fun to watch. Your encouragement and patience with her-I'm loving it! I have graduated to intermediate workouts with you with an accompaniment of your cool down and stretch workouts. Lost weight and gained muscle and confidence. Thank you for the vid's and keep em' coming. I have cut down my going to the gym and have seen more results with yes2next than going.     So, I've just done my DAY 2: Weight Training and DAY 3: 10 Minute Beginner HIIT of our 7-Day Get Stronger Challenge. I feel invigorated as it was a great 20-minute total workout. April, it was also nice to see your mom along with you, while gaining strength and burning some of those calories that I put on over the holidays. We are off to a wonderful year and cannot wait to receive my exercise Jumpstart to Fitness DVD.

    Couldn’t find day 2 on CZcams so I’ve had to skip it. I do this Asian extra to your normal 10 minute workout so I get 20 minutes in all. Love it and how good I feel now

    I love these for my mom who is 76. I can only get her to do them once in awhile. I have a hard time getting her to do this series. She has done day 1 and 2. I have to tread lightly so I won’t make her mad. Lol. If you have any tips I would appreciate them . My husband and I exercise on a daily basis. I try to get her to do something after we do our workout. Sometimes it works and sometimes she just isn’t interested. We do our best to encourage her and tell her how great she feels when she is done. As well as the importance of exercise to strengthen her muscles to prevent falls and aches and pains. The more she does it the more it will become a routine. She hears that but doesn’t always apply.

The most effective exercise is movement that your mom likes and enjoys. So the goal is to try to find those activities -- it could be our workouts, short walks in an inspiring place like a park or garden, or something else.       @@yes2next thank you so much. Do you have anymore 10 minute or 15 works out that she can do for a week or so? She loved the 7 day 10 minute workouts. I think she can go longer but I am trying to get her into this slowly. Mainly want to help to stop shuffling her feet and to help with balance. Hard for me to pick out what to daily for her. I like the weekly challenges you have. She loves your mom. She said she bets she would be a hoot to go out and spend the day with.😆

    I'm a bit behind in this series. This one was great. Those 2 moves were easy to speed up, and the 2nd move I did as a grapevine with both arms raised straight up and opposite knee up. I went as fast as I could and, truly, that 10 minutes was golden. Very effective. Today I've completed Days 1, 2, & 3, and will add another unrelated 10 minute routine. I like the variety you've provided so far, April, and YAY to Aiko!...Anastasia

    People like me, with knee arthritis, could think that adding a step back to their side step routine could be challenging, but I think I found a good trick to do it without hurting your knees: try to keep the foot stepping back as in line as possible with the knee, which means keep your toes pointing forward as much as you can while you step in any direction. This way I can do the side step-back step easily enough, and I don't risk to hurt myself.

    that was a hard workout for me but i finished it. I'm 71 and weigh 226 lbs. i have arthritis in major joints but I kept going. I will try day4 tommoroww.
