- Time to get the garden ready for planting. The King Kutter tiller can really tear the soil up and leave the garden in great shape for planting. Come along and check it out. E27

Well did you get anything planted? We’re still dodging rain here but the weather just tuned and it’s sunny out so things will dry out soon. Can’t wait to watch things growing.
Yes, got everything planted and most of it has come up now. Had a nice rain this past weekend. Got the old Farmall Super A out to help out with making the rows. Going to post a video on it soon.
That auto PTO is such a useful feature!
Yes it is. Been hearing some guys say they are breaking PTO shear bolts when it engages. I’m guessing maybe cheap grade or too soft bolts. Glad my tiller and rotary cutter have slip clutches, so don’t have to worry with the bolts.
Good video, just did the same thing this weekend but it’s a little too wet here. Nice tiller, my old agric is getting pretty tired.
Thanks. Yeah, planted the garden last week a few days after a good rain, now no rain in forecast for over a week. Go figure.
@@backyardcountrylivin1514 Haha yeah that’s how it always goes.
Thanks for another nice video! I have pretty much the same tractor as you (CK3520SE HST) and I was wondering if you have problems with breaking shear bolts when you lower your tiller, when the tractor automatically engages the PTO? I've read to lower the RPM to help with this but by the sound of your video, you don't seem to have any issues with shear bolts. I don't have a tiller yet, but I will be using my rotary cutter as soon as the snow as melted here in Quebec, Canada. Thanks again, I learn a lot from you!
Hi David, thanks for watching and commenting. The King Kutter tiller has a slip clutch attached to the tiller end of the PTO shaft. So, there are no shear bolts to worry about breaking. The slip clutch serves as the protection if you hit something. I also have this same setup on a 6 ft rotary cutter that has worked well for years. I can imagine how frustrating it can be to break the bolts by just engaging the PTO. You may want to check and see if you can find some bolts that are a little better grade if you have this problem when you start using your rotary cutter. You can also purchase a aftermarket PTO shaft slip clutch and get rid of the shear bolts. May have to shorten the shaft in order to allow for the length of the clutch. I would definitely consider this feature when you start looking at tillers. Hope this helps. Would love to visit Canada one day. I know it is a beautiful country.
@@backyardcountrylivin1514 Thanks for the detailed response! I'll follow your advice and look for a slip clutch!
Very cool
Thanks for checking it out.
Does it cover tracks
Yes, if you look at the video around the 8:33 mark you can see that it does cover tracks. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Jeff, that is for sure my next tractor implement I will buy. I need to start putting some money aside but definitely a must have in planning to have a large orchard. What would you recommend for the MF231 4 or 5 ft wide tiller?.
I would say at least a 5 or I think the 231 would even handle a 6 footer ok, if the soil is not too hard or clay. Check the wheelbase width on 231. You would like for the tiller to be able to cover the tire tracks if possible. I also like the PTO with slip clutch vs having shear pins. Thanks for checking out the video.
Thank you Jeff. The dealer that I’m working with sells Tar River tillers. Seems somewhat like the King Kutter. Hopefully it will work like yours. Sure looks like a nice machine.
Yes, I have heard of Tar River and they are good quality tillers. It sure does make quick work when preparing for planting. Thanks for checking it out.
