      As a former teacher, I can add that many - if not most - teachers are pretty stupid. They buy into what they’re fed in college schools of “education” which put a notably Marxist twist on everything. Everything from racism to climate change is spun to fit a distinctly left-wing narrative. Most teachers have little genuine passion for knowledge or sharing their interests with a young audience aside from the promotion of social[ist] issues.

You are willingly using Money that you do not have, willingly indebting yourself in order to buy things you can't afford, then willingly go to work to pay that stuff off. You can go live off the grid, the reason why you don't is because that life is 10 times harder than working a job and taking out loans willingly. Children as young as 5 would be needed to work around the homestead and work until they died of old age if they made it that far. Debt Slavery is nonsensical. Debt is you willingly getting yourself into debt, not like they are forcing it on you like Slavery is.

It's more so about being kept ignorant of it until you are so deep into it that it seems unnatural to be without and you cling to it as if it is the natural way. And then if you figure out "going off grib" you'd have to know the system so well that you can refute when the system makes a claim to your freedom because once enough people notice the system it would fall apart dethroning those at the top of the system that benefit the most from people's ignorance.

      Trafficking is selling, transporting, or importing something, anything, illegally. It could refer to whatever noun you put in front of it hence, drug trafficking, human trafficking, organ trafficking, etc.

      The reason why " this" isn't taught in schools is because it's a distortion of true facts, one being the "arrival" of slavery to the African continent via The Moors...as if there had been no slavery there before then. That's just one example but the main issue is that videos like this feature so called African people using European male talking points to seduce their own ethnic group! That is what Afro people should remember, indeed, all people as the similar tactics are being used on Latino radio!

    This is factual. I am African and this has always been known, it also hasn't fully gone away. Xenophobia and attacks towards "foreign Africans" still is common in some African countries.

      Aye, for some reason us westerners seem to view Africa as some big homogeneous whole rather than a continent with vastly different countries, cultures, histories and peoples.
      A Yoruba is as different from a Maasai, as a Spaniard is from a Swede!

    I went to school in North Seattle back in the "70's". We were taught this in our history class in 7th grade. Amazing to me that our schools are in the process of uneducating the generations.

      Alex Haley's Roots did a lot of damage as it distorted the truth tremendously. As young people don't read anymore, but only watch video, they do watch Roots - The Slavery's Bible - but they never READ the truth. Kids used to grow up with mom at home and a boogieman father, that would punish them if they did their mother wrong. Which kept them from running wild. They learned lots of things at home. Today both parents work. Kids are dumped at pre-school. Only humans and cuckoos do this. Every other mammal takes care of their own offspring first and for all. Even birds with their dinosaur brains take better care of their offspring. Consequence is that school has to fill the void, thinning the educational time to learn hw to read, write, do calculus, etc. Every generation gets less attention from ther parents and learns less at school. Try to find someone over 50 who can't calculate how much change to give back. If an oldy has to pay let's say, $ 10,10 with a twenty dollar bill and doesn't want a shipload of small change, he'll add a dime to what he has to pay. Now try to find a youngster to understand that. Usually they shove the dime back and look at you like if you don't understand that the twenty is enough to pay the bill. As the phones became smart, our kids became stupid.

    It is always important to remember our history, but it is more important that we remember it accurately. We definitely can't live in our past. We have to acknowledge how far we've come and use that to guide our future. Those who forget their past are doomed to repeat it.

    You’re right about slavery still existing. They call it “human trafficking,” now, probably to keep people confused about what it actually is: the buying and selling of people, which is also the definition of slavery.

      Or they just don't talk about it... Like the open slave auctions in the town square happening in Libya now (after the US backed coup outed their leader Gaddafi leaving a power vacuum). Hilary Clinton famously laughed about this when she said "We came, We saw, He Died hahahaha"
      It's a smaller % of the total population, but there is a higher number of humans enslaved today than there ever was in history.

    Please watch the British crusade against slavery, I've watched many Americans react to it and are always shocked, the battle of Bamber Bridge is another good video it tells the story of how British people of Bamber Bridge took the side of black American soldiers and fought against segregation

In 1963 the black schools were closed and all black students were move to white schools. And you know what…..they became the best friends in the world😂🎉🎉❤❤❤

    Dude, there's dozens of countries around the world where slavery still exists TODAY.
    There's nearly 50 million people living in slavery TODAY.
    If we go back a few hundred years, nearly everyone on the planet has ancestors who lived in chains. It was a crap world, and in some places... it still is. Be thankful to have been born in prosperous times, in a prosperous place.

    Thomas Sowell should be mandatory reading. I learned more about history and economics reading Discrimination and Disparities (2018) and Economic Facts and Fallacies (2008) than I did reading any economics or history textbook growing up.

    One must remember that slavery was started as a business, simply because the indigenous people preferred death over slavery. Tobacco and cotton exhausted the land, hence the need for larger and larger land tracts, hence the need for more slaves. Farms in the new world needed labor, both slave, and indentured servants from Scotland Ireland, and Germany. This system of profit was so huge, that it took hundreds of years to finally come to a legal end. If African Americans are kept in perpetual anger by an institution that was from another era, it will keep a wall of anger that cannot be surpassed or even understood. Simply put, anger keeps people from thinking clearly, logically, and most importantly, the ability to advance and move forward in growth and development

    There are still slaves, sadly. When Quadaffi was removed from power in Libya, chaos ruled, and open-air slave markets returned to Tripoli. Most of the enslaved are young men lured away from sub-Saharan nations for legitimate work, then they have their identification papers taken away.

      Thank you for pointing that out, I've been scanning the comments to see how many people realize slavery never truly ended it just has different faces now, sadly not many people seem to know 😞 if people would look into who picks the bananas, coffee and chocolate most people would be shocked how much slave labor produced products we buy every day.

    That fact that you've made this reaction is great. Don't fret that you "didn't know" or "weren't taught" stuff like this. Heck, at some "higher education" institutions (including Harvard, I believe) you can obtain a degree in "history" without having to take one course of American hisrtory. We were all given a mind to think and learn and one of the best ways to do so is learn by self-study. You are striving to learn and I commend you.

    My moms friend is from Rwanda. She survived by playing dead in a pile of dead bodies. She said a US soldier noticed her and saved her because they was impressed at the fact shes still alive. Which is very weird to me. But then again, I wasn't there.

      If I can re-call the only involvement of U.S troops was to evacuate American citizens before the carnage. A small deployment of United Nation peacekeepers were the only soldiers there, led by a Canadian Commander, the Western world ignored the genocide. A large number of Pakistani peacekeepers were murdered.🤔

    I'm from Canada with a Greek background, extensive information about slavery was actually taught in Greek school, since the curriculum involved a lot of emphasis on history, I remember around 2004 a black girl from the U.S started working at a local restaurant I went to everyday because I would chill there with friends after work on the terrace, through a random conversation she stated that she was going to convert to Islam because there was never slavery in Islam and they are inclusive, our circle of friends are mostly Greek so we started laughing, told her that Greeks were slaves under Ottoman rule for 400 years and that the longest lasting slave trade of African people was the Arab Islamic slave trade that made the Atlantic slave trade look humane in comparison. She had no idea that there was slavery outside of Africa and the U.S, told her there was slaver everywhere, China, India, Middle East, Polynesia, heck even natives of the America's such as the Mayans and Incas had slaves before white people came to their land her biggest surprise was learning that the biggest slave traders were actually Jews and that Africans enslaved other Africans.

      England didn’t have slaves. English people participated in the slave trade individually and there were English slave owners in the Caribbean, but Slavery was outlawed in England as early as the 1200’s. There are several cases in which it was upheld in court that a slave, upon setting foot on English soil, was freed.
      England and the British Empire did more to end the slave trade than any other nation ever. Everyone talking about how the Empire and British colonialism was bad, we ended Slavery in every nation we colonised.

    Thomas Sowell is my favorite economist not because he's black, but because he's SMART!
    I'm a 60 year old white man and I don't want to hate any skin color. I don't want to be hated for my skin color. The overwhelming majority of this country just want to get along, raise our families, earn a living and enjoy people of all ethnicites. The left will never allow this and that's why they sow racism and hate where none exists.

      Sorry, National treasures sometimes tend to fluff the nation they are treasures of, there was a civil war in one new country over sessasion which can be attributed to views on slavery among other things, slavery wasn't immediately abolished because of a war, a war that wasn't totally about slavery, in a small newly created isolationist country, less than half its current size. But this gets prime position in his talk, bigged up so to speak. In fact the only mention of the stopping of slavery in the whole peice,one sentence, that is misleading about the total motives of the civil war, excludes the bigger worldwide factors and slightly perpetuates the Abe Lincoln stopped slavery misconception, especially held in the USA.
      Would be better if he spoke on this of world issues and the stopping of slavery worldwide, and maybe, just maybe, at least mention the country that first abolished slavery in it lands, then in it holdings, then formed a naval force at its publics expense, entirely for the prevention of slavery, impelling other countries through might and strength to stop slavery, through force, cohersion and blockade. All before Abe Lincoln was even a politician.
      The United Kingdom did far more to stop slavery than anyone else, but Thomas Sowell (you know, being a US national treasure) fails to even mention that none US irrelevance here, he has better videos on the subject than this, which includes the important reasons for abolition.

    Canadian here ...everyone at one time pretty much had slavery of one kind or another, stateside most schools only teach enough to pass the tests. So tell me how much did they teach you about your neighbours..." Hi neighbour!" You celebrate St. Patricks Day with green beer guess what St. Patrick at one point before becoming a Priest was a slave. Some Native Americans AND Canadian First Nations kept slaves. Canadian schools kept the knowledge of Residential schools from our school children we have the Truth & Reconciliation Act now but it's still an ugly spot in our history.

      I may live a continent away and may not share a skin colour but, I care about the truth and the liberation of all peoples. I have a friend in the US and I am saddened by the shit that the media targets the community spreading fear and hate and mistrust. The media does that to all people's but it's sad to see her afraid to just go out and be herself because she shouldn't be afraid just because she was born a certain way. She is kind, smart and my life would be less if she wasn't involved with it and I keep reminding her that she can achieve anything she sets her mind to and she doesn't need to listen to anybody who tries to demoralise her just because she was born a certain way.       Another good book that I am reading right now is called White Gold by Giles Milton. It talks about the slave trade of white folks by the barbary pirates. It was huge back then.

      @@wolfen26 I've seen research on the Irish & Scottish slaves .. B4 the black slave trade. Basically once the black slaves were brought to the US for sale .. they were sold for much less money. Eventually the Irish & Scottish were no longer bought bc they cost too much comparatively speaking. But that's interesting about the pirates but makes sense. Haven't looked into that one yet. I think I saw a lil something a while back on how they'd kidnap men looking for work & put them below to work against their will .. basically prisoners. But that's all I've seen. Thnx for the info.     They don't tell you this in school because they're trying to exploit you. I remember asking my teacher when I was really young if the slaves in the bible were all from Africa (since we were learning about US slavery and they were all black...but they weren't actually all black, but that's what they wanted to teach) and she didn't want to answer. After that I read more about it on my own and I stopped listening to what the teachers were saying because it was all BS.
    In a sense, the US got the rotten luck of being on the last days of slavery. No one really cares about slavery from a thousand years ago, only from 400 years ago.

    I find it shocking that people believe Americans started slavey. Everyone's history contains slavey, we've all been slaves at some time in history. Slavery is as old as mankind. Not all people believed in nor wanted the money. Here in America we had the constitution and bill of rights in which it says "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.” That's why Lincoln and the Republican party fought and died to free the slaves.
    There are approximately 700,000 slaves in Africa owned by black Africans. I love this content from you. Thank you!🙏

    I have an ancestor on each side of my family who was taken as a slave. 450 years ago on my mom's side an ancestor took another one and 1500 years ago on my dad's side the same thing. If you go back far enough I bet it's in everyone's family history.

    I watched a long section of Sowell’s book.
    One of the best ideas I took away was: slavery being illegal now is the anomaly. Throughout history slavery was the norm.

    I’ve tried educating myself in topics like this and have gotten outside help and I’ve known this for some time surprised allot of other people don’t know this

    A common mentality among all oppressors is that their victims need to be controlled. That they are doing good, and their victims are better off for their oppression. Whenever one person, by whatever means, finds themselves with power over another, this mentality often creeps in. You see it in parents, teachers, bosses, landlords, lawmakers, judges, the wealthy, etc. I don't believe the line that power corrupts. I believe certain people have corruption in them and power frees it.
    This isn't why slavery existed, but it is how slavery persisted.
