It's important to know both sides, even if we choose one to agree with. I think that is the missing element that leads to all this hateful rhetoric over politics. It's harder to hate someone, when you understand their view. Also, the black community hamstrings their own issues, when they only vote one direction. Make these corrupt political parties compete for the vote. If you give it away free, just like other things, it's not worth anything.

Think about how much those music and movies have influenced the knowledge of what America is like to people who don't live here. Think about how many people want to dress and act like Americans, speak like them. The same is true for Americans that want to speak and act like the rappers they hear in songs and watch in media. That is called the spread of cultural influence.

      @Bancheis Před rokem +1

@@Reasonablewater27 I am not claiming that all rap is toxic. Simply claiming that rap, like all forms of media, is responsible for the spread of cultural influence and ideals. There are rap songs I actually like, like Tupac - Changes. It's a good song and brings forth some problems in society to the forefront of people's minds.
However the majority of rap, and even other genres like death metal and screamo, often push a negative influence on youth that they wish to emulate. If music is made with hatred, anger, or violence in mind, it will translate to the culture that consumes it. While Tupac rapped about similar subjects, he was calling for change and wanted a better future for people. That also translates to the culture of people who consume it.

Thomas Sowell has it exactly right. Poverty has been the norm throughout human history. The reason some groups of people face it and overcome it is because they equip themselves with skills that are in demand and stay away from counterproductive ideas like Marxism/communism/socialism. Immigrate groups like the Chinese can move into any impoverished country and within a generation overcome poverty. Yet other groups all over the world engage in counterproductive habits like victimhood, Marxism, feminism and get left behind. There are tons of examples of this all over the world and across many of not all ethnicities. If your parents and grandparents and great grandparents never got out of poverty then repeating what they did wont work for you either. But if you have real tangible skills, a great work ethic and good morals even when people dislike you they will still pay you because they aren’t dumb.

The issue of not being required to have a CCW (open carry) is a good thing.
    1. It's in accordance with our 2nd Amendment Right (as opposed to the over abundance of unconstitutional gun laws we have).
    2. Stats have proven, over and over again, an armed society is a polite society. All of this crazy gun crime didn't start until the passage of numerous unconstitutional gun laws.
The issue of single parent homes, was born of Democrats selling welfare to blacks to get them back on the "plantation". Black women were told, we're going to create welfare, but you'll only qualify if the man isn't in the home. Democrats created a way to get blacks to volunteer to enslave themselves. It's shameful.

When I was crowing up, in the south, I was friends with a black kid my age. His parents were from Ohio and moved south for work (hospital administration I think). Both parents were well spoken, which was an oddity for blacks in my area. I remember my friends mother chastising him every time he used slang or improper word pronunciation. I made me self conscience when around his parents. Their proper English made me feel kind of dumb. But I will tell you that my friend grew up and went to college and got a business degree and has had a pretty decent life.
The one thing that I remember about this family is how isolated they were. To the white southerners, they were considered "uppity" or trying to be better than everyone else, and the black southerners accused them of trying to be too white. It was a not win situation for them, socially.

Thomas Sowell is a genius. He is one of the leading economists and minds of the 20th and 21st century. It’s a shame that he isn’t taught in schools because the school boards are against his type of thinking.
I live just south of San Francisco, but used to live in West Oakland. A predominantly black area of Oakland. I used to hear gunshots almost everyday there. Dog Town and Ghost Town they are called. Both Blood territories. I’d drive through and see police taped off streets with chalk outlines on the ground. I thought this something done only in cop movies from the 80s and stuff before moving there in 2011. It really happens that much, that the police CSI/Coroners are busy at other crime scenes that the police just have to chalk the body outline, and remove it themselves so others wouldn’t see it and the body won’t decompose so much.
It’s a real shame and very sad that this still exists in many black communities around the country. A holding onto a culture that is perverse, immoral, and destructive. Luckily, many black men and women are waking up to this fact and I saw, and continue to see, folks moving away from this. Not even physically, but mentally too. One of my best friends lived in what is called the Acorns, or Acorn Projects. Recently remodeled, but still just as dangerous. He attended college with me from 2011 to 2015. He’s still doing well and has since moved to a better neighborhood elsewhere in the Bay Area, earning a very good living and starting a family. He used to be a Blood gang member, but fortunately saw the error of his ways.
He didn’t do it because of Thomas Sowell, but I bet you if more young black boys were exposed to such a teaching, they wouldn’t end up joining a gang and killing each other over petty things that are worthless compared to a life. Thought for words.

    Another great reaction, Leo.
Just for some clarification on one of the issues. Yes it's true some states have gotten rid of the requirement to buy a carry permit to carry guns. That only means someone can carry a gun on him without needing to get that carry permit first. In many states guns are still required to be hidden from plain sight even with a permit (always check your state and local laws). However, shooting someone who isn't actively trying to kill you or one of your loved ones first is still illegal in ALL states no matter the status of carry permit requirements.
Guns require an FBI background check each and every time buyers buy them from sales associates at gun shops or from official vendors at gun shows. Sometimes the background system can fail. It can happen if certain details about a person's record are not shared with the FBI database (prior arrests, dishonorable discharge from the military, known drug abuse, domestic abuse or mental problems etc). A background check will not find any red flags to stop a gun purchase with someone who has never committed an offense.
The only time background checks won't always apply is during a private person to private person sale. Always be sure to check your local and state laws because that's not the case in ALL states. Some areas may require an official firearms dealer be involved in the sale.

Congratulations on making that most important step to free your mind and soul from the indoctrination and brainwashing that blatz americans have been receiving for HUNDREDS of years. Who has been brainwashing them? It has NOT been dwight/European people. It has been super wealthy "Gee-yews"! They have been instilling a "victimhood" mindset into blatz for over 100 years now whereby almost ALL blatz automatically blame dwights for any perceived injustices that are actually the fault of the individuals' OWN FAULTS AND BAD CHOICES. Personal responsibility is a HUGE key to blatz people advancing beyond third-world mindsets and rationales. At the 1:30 mark, Mr. Video asks "who is going to help us?" Nobody. Nobody SHOULD help you. You MUST learn to HELP YOURSELVES. Learn what the Gee-yews have historically done to blatz Americans, and what they have brainwashed you with, then decide how you will break FREE from it and REPAIR the community! BTW, the sudden increases of blatz Americans gaining HUGE advancement and successes in sports, entertainment, music, politics, and liberal social sciences in the past 80 years is, with some exceptions, NOT by any natural occurrences. It is by the guiding force of the Gee-yews, and the power and control that they wield over ALL OF US non-Gee-yews! They have written plans to assist blatz into increasing positions of power that dates as far back as at least 1912! In this 1912 writing, they even include their plans to get blatz men to PREFER to sexually partner with dwight women! It somehow helps the Gee-yews to achieve THEIR goals. Hmmmmmmmmm....

It's great that you are expanding and looking to grow and learn. However, I truly hope that in your journey, you take pride in being Black and don't let anything or anyone allow you to feel ashamed of who you are. Getting out of your town and traveling, meeting different people (offline) will bring added value to your growth and understanding. Read and allow videos like this to open up your mind to different ideologies, and go deeper to do the research yourself.
Black culture is not only what is described in the clips you watched in this video. We are complex, diverse, and marvelous. I grew up in Chicago and most of my family is from the North, with maybe a few elders from Kentucky but no further south than that (as far as I know). I was surrounded by Black scholars, professionals, artists but also had family that lived in the projects. I went to the #1 magnet high school in the city (Michelle Obama's alma mater), then I attended a predominately white private university in the middle of Illinois and have been living in NYC (Harlem to be exact) for almost 18 years, and work in tech for a large media company. My experiences are vast! Oh the stories I could tell! With that said, I am certain that my experiences are wildly different from yours but I am certain if you continue to open yourself up to learn about others and our history, you will develop rich and unforgettable experiences that will make you proud of who you are and eager to learn more.
My point is, we are all not poor, uneducated, lazy, rappers and athletes. Not all of us hear gunshots fired daily. We are so much more than that. Those kinds of people and situations do exist in our culture but they exist in other cultures as well. I think that was the overall point Thomas Sowell was trying to make but the way the soundbites are clipped, it seems whoever put them together are trying to tell a different, negative story that isn't exactly accurate.
Again, please take the time to research deeper and read, read, read!!! Leverage relationships you might have with older folks around you to get history straight from those that have lived through it. I think you had it right when you said Sowell is doing the same thing that Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton have done...like them, he has an agenda (selling his books and booking speaking engagements). Look who his audience is and ask yourself why.

Leo, I’m all for educating yourself, but do try and watch videos from more than one political viewpoint. Even if you don’t agree with it you should hear from all sides. True education is hearing multiple points of view to better inform your own personal beliefs. If anyone tells you that all liberals are bad they’re lying. If anyone tells you that all conservatives are bad they’re lying. It’s never that simple.
Me, personally, I believe that the biggest problem we have in politics is money and term limits. The elected officials on both sides who are supposed to represent “the people” care more about money and holding on to power than they do actually governing and passing laws. But that’s another whole conversation.
Also, keep in mind, when it comes to reactions politics can divide your community in two. Instead of we are all here for a good time watching movies or listening to music, things we all love and have in common, political discussions tend to become “left vs right” or “us vs them” conversations. It pits your audience against each other and brings a lot of unnecessary arguments into the comment sections. There is a reason they say don’t talk politics or religion around family… it’s because politics these days focuses on our differences instead of what we have in common imo.

When a person looks for info from the “right” they are balancing out their education. There literally is no reason to have to look for leftist indoctrination. It’s pervasive in our society and we are much worse for it.

Open carry (concealed carry for that matter) is a great deterrent for violence and crime in general. With concealed carry, you don’t know who is armed so you think twice before committing a crime. It can cause more violence but gun violence is a result of a cultural problem. It’s not the tool’s fault how we utilize them. They don’t have any will and ability to shoot themselves. So we address culture and mental illness and we’ll have a lot less violence.
