First alley cat race of the year. AMSTERDAM FIXED GEAR

- A chill fixed gear gathering turned street shredding madness with a lot of fast cats, plenty close calls and some well deserved after beers on the first day of summer.
Overall a great vibe that once again brought the fixed gear family together and allowed riders to share stories and express their love for bikes.
Special thanks to everyone involved, as specially the peeps who came from out of town to be part of this, and let's do it again soon!

This is the most calm alleycat race I ever seen
Imagine some strange filters, dramatic music and rapid cut scence...
In my opinion, Amsterdam is not suitable for a alley cat race, since it is a cycle-centric city.
1. The good cycling infrastructure makes for some real boring stretches (the first two minutes of the video for example).
2. Cyclists are more mobile/maneuverable and less predictable traffic users, increasing the risk of collision.
3. In a car-centric city, most of the risk of injury is for the racer himself. In a cycle-centric city like Amsterdam, this risk is shared equally with the unsuspecting cyclist. By the choice to race there, you are endangering others much more than you would have done in a car-centric city. This is the biggest reason making Amsterdam not suitable.
I get alley cat racing, it's exciting and fun to watch. But do it in suitable cities, not in Amsterdam.
Corona times make the city empty. Before was fine. Especially if you dont go to the suburbs. But yeah I enyojed alleycats in Brussel for example more
I agree, the traffic tempo of many car-centric cities makes it so that many of us don't really have a choice but to ride this way. I commute by bike in NYC everyday and I find myself riding like this whether I'm on my track bike or my folding bike--the infrastructure and traffic situation forces us to ride this style. It doesn't seem to flow that way in Amsterdam. Still, a good video though.
How about they do it wherever the fuck they want. This is an alley cat race, and these cats don't give a fuuuuggggg bruh
Wow, I'm happy people are still doing this in 2020. Riding a fixie is magical, and you can't (and probably shouldn't) do it forever. Young men rejoice in thy youth!

In een stad waar iedereen fietst, ziet dit er een beetje vreemd uit.
