I'm Indonesian, even though I didn't understand what they really say. Philippines has the same problem like Indonesian but based on my observation, Indonesia is a bit better than Philippines. My suggestion is, build highways but don't forget to build Subway/Metro system. Indonesia has so many highways but we're lack of urban transportation, now we're constructing Subway, LRT, and many more. Build highways is a good solution but without urban transport, traffic won't decrease, also the government should make BRT. It really need public awareness of traffic. Indonesia is alot better than the philippines in terms of economy size to the least. Indonesia has an average steady growth of 5-6% for the last 40 decades/since 1980s. Now if only out country is like yours, it would be great. :(.

Again I have to say this, Manila is a lot of bullshit..I have been to the Philippines a lot of times. I have spent weeks in Manila and months in Cebu, Davao, Cagayan de Oro, the rest are nature adventure in Siargao and Palawan.
Well the most disciplined people I've seen in huge city is Davao City. next Cagayan de Oro then Cebu. I do not have to narrate them all and this is what I've seen in general. Even the police officers in Manila "you cannot trust them:.

Decentralization sagot diyan. Majority of the development projects kasi is focused on Metro Manila lang eh. Most Filipino's ay lumilipat rin sa Manila Para maghanap ng trabaho. Federalism makakatulong talaga yan sa pag unlad ng ibang lugar sa Pilipinas.

we may probably exclude family planning now. Average child per woman is around 3 now. Should it go to 2 per woman. it would be very hard to turn the tides back just as it did with Japan, S. Korea and now China facing huge demographic problems. BTW. Im talking about the national level about that, not just Metro Manila.
federalism yes, if possible, there should be more capitals like manila per state so those in the provinces wouldn't have to go to manila to work anymore. Also, each state could do well without the mandate of the central-imperial government in the capital. Therefore they could decide for themselves of where their local economy should go. Why are we building more highways, for more cars to occupy roads? Mass transit is the only thing that will solve traffic. I live for the day that having a car is not a necessity anymore in the Philippines, if only we have efficient transport. Skyways just destroy the urban landscape and add to existing traffic. This is what makes me want to leave the country til we have a sustainable urban development.

For now the Philippines needs not just more but better-implemented highways. This is an intermediate solution since Philippines lack better public transportation system (or the lack of) and we already act like a "car nation" even though its not sustainable for such as small land mass with big population. Philippines needs both and I think these ambitious projects like Build Build Build aims to solve that within this administration and beyond (hopefully).
Philippines has to model itself like on neighboring asian countries with similar high population in a small landmass like Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. The population and the government also has to stop trying to make Philippines like America, which is geographically different. Even America don't have good public transportation compared to most developed western nations, Europe were better at public transportation.
Its not bad to own a car, but I think the Philippines has to understand that its not suited to be a "car nation".

The population problem of Metro Manila is that this is where most factories, jobs and services are and people tend to live as close as possible to get to their jobs on time and the reason why factories, jobs and services are there is because its accesible to nearby ports, airport, highways and accesible to a large market. This is because the Philippines do not have a high speed mass transportation infrastructure that would transport millions of people daily and the country lacks large scale freight capabilies resulting in transporting large amounts of people and goods using vehicles on overcrowded roads that even people use to walk by as well.

Isa sa malaking solusyon dyan ay mag expand ang metro manila sa cavite, laguna, rizal at bulacan kaya dapat gumawa na ng maluluwang na highways na magkokonekta sa metro manila at sa mga nabanggit na probinsya para doon na magtayo ng mga panibagong buildings dahil crowded na ang metro manila at halos wala nang space.
I first visited Manila in 1984. I used to stay in Proj. 7 QC near Sm north edsa(constructed circa 1987). Traffic in EDSA was light and fast. No MRT yet. There used to be a center island planted with flowering plants and trees especially along EDSA past SM north up to Mandaluyong. Travel time then from Sm north up to Guadalupe, Makati average to 15 to 20 minutes by ordinary non-aircon bus. Metro Manila was clean and beautiful. No garbage left on the streets swept by Metro aides. Not yet overcrowded. Commuting then was light and easy to go around the metropolis. AFTER 34 YEARS MANILA IS A NIGHTMARE OVERCROWDED AND POLLUTED. OVERPOPULATION IS THE CAUSE. 15 M+ PEOPLE DURING THE DAYTIME. WORST!
My Solution: Choose Isko Moreno for President to Bring Back the Manila Experience in 1980s, When There Was No Garbages, Light Traffic, Lesser Slums, and Fast Travel.
Add more international airports around Luzon. This should help generate jobs around the new airports and encourage investors.

Build a massive Clark City and some industries can left Manila and go to Visayas and Mindano or near Metro Manila like Laguna or Batangas for transportation and logistics.
Build Build Build is also doing a project for Mactan Airport Terminal 2! :D But Cebu airport isn't busy unlike NAIA but that's wonderful too if in case there's sudden strike like example Christmas Vacation least there's more planes and more gates to use so none of them gets delayed :)

I doubt kung ganyan nga ang magiging itsura ng Intramuros Binondo bridge. Kasi yung Estrella Pantaleon bridge, sobrang layo ng itsura sa proposed design. Simple steel bridge lang. But yeah, more bridges and highways, more fun. And one thing more, the railways. NEVER FORGET THE RAILWAYS because this is the most efficient mode of transportation :)

Dami ko gusto, pero eto. Remove provincial rate, increase basic wage, improve public mass transit, build more lines of LRT or subway, build more bridge connecting highly populated islands in Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao. Fix the PNR and modernize. Clean the Pasig river. Improve city drainage and sewage system not only in Metro Manila but in all of the Philippines. Implement and govern the standards and requirements on all buildings and infrastructure. Improve on managing and maintaining all these infrastructure. Invest in science and technology. Improved the police image and modernize the precincts. Provide public health care, and pharma care, free dental, vision and medicine for all... As long as these things are met I won't care about corruption or political dynasties, since this occur in most countries in the world.
Build, build and build. Tama! Pero spread out naman sa other cities or metropolitans sa bansa. Build something somewhere to encourage people to stay sa lugar nila and no need to work and live in Metro Manila.
Decentralization ang sagot dito. A lot of people from the provinces lumilipat dito dahil higher wages and bigger opportunities.
1.Relocate some government offices in central luzon.
2.Standardize minimum wages sa buong bansa.
3. Give equal opportunities sa provinces the same as Metro Manila.
Wag natin i-focus ang plano at diversions sa metro manila lamang. The infra will help pero it will not solve, bibigyan lang ng dahilan ang tao na lumipat lalo dahil alam nila, lumuwag na.
The government now at mga susunod pa MUST think of long term solutions dahil kung hindu, babagsak ang Manila which accounts to almost half of the economy
