One of the most egregious aspects of the slave trade was/is the erasing of family ties and the family history of those sold into slavery. Few, if any, descendants of American slaves have any idea what African tribe(s) they descended from let alone know the family history. I am pleased that there is an effort to preserve what history that is still available.
