A message from Marty:
In 2016 I donated my video archives to the Library of Congress. The Library, in turn, transferred the footage and digitized it for the Congress of Country Music’s keeping. Over the past couple of years, I’ve finally reviewed most of that work. And it is literally miles of work.
Since the late 1980s, I’ve kept a video camera close by to capture life at home, on the road, the studio, and other assorted theatres of musical mayhem. Until the great lockdown of 2020, I’d never taken the time to look at most of what had been captured over the years. Scenes such as this informal dressing room jam with Waylon Jennings felt important when it happened. However, now thirty years later, I look upon the moment as no less than a precious treasure. Song number 5, which is to be released on July 27th, from the SONGS I SING IN THE DARK series, is a cover of Waylon’s classic 1974 RCA recording of “This Time.” The song got me thinking about Waylon and sent me into the video vault to see what I could find. “Waymore’s Blues” is what archivist Traci Todd found. So glad my wife and I went to see the Superlatives at the Florida Theater in Jacksonville, FL. I got to see Marty and Kenny cook Teles from 15 ft. away.
I love Johnny Cash . But Waylon Jennings is my hero. And Marty is the last link to all the great country artists going back half a century. It always shows in the way he plays country music. He's the living embodiment of the Country Music Hall of Fame and I hope he rolls on for another generation.

He started out on Mandolin and played in Lester Flatt's band when he was 14.
He was a child prodigy. Practice is one thing but pure god given talent is another. Mix the two together and you get a Marty Stuart.

It was cool to see Waylon play and pick on an acoustic guitar, not many videos out there of that. Also cool to see Marty picking as well.
