An artist finds romance with a chef in Italy and embarks on a life-changing journey of love, loss, resilience and hope across cultures and continents. - Zábava
LOVED this series! I found myself smiling hard, laughing, and then crying. SO good!
As an old, white lady, it's so great to see a story about a black person having a HUMAN experience - to see characters who do not strictly define themselves by their skin color.
I’m sick of white erasure! Every Netflix film is just a POC lead, the white bad guy, and any black person is the good guy. It’s so predictable and gives the story away, before I even watch it, I know by their skin colour what their character will be. It’s hardly authentic. In fact it’s the opposite.
@@gottalovetheinternet Me too
YASS
@@gottalovetheinternet It's based on a true story. So it's their authentic experience.
@@lighteyes214 thank you for noting this. As a black person with more than one black experience, American and Caribbean I know that there are ppl with other experiences and I appreciate that. The lady who wrote the book this is based off of loosely based it off her life so it is her authentic experience and it was damn good! Black ppl let's stop finding a damn fault in everything. I'm sick of it....
As black ppl we always want to criticize other black ppl's experience as not authentic because it is not the way we feel it should be.
Ppl travel and have different experiences. Many ppl making critiques never even left their state and rely on the news to form their narrative. Sickening!
This was such an amazing story! I've never cried this much watching a movie!
I found this series to be so rich in many ways. It was about love, family, sacrifice, forgiveness, compassion and death. This is the first movie I have seen that dealt with illness and death the way it did. It showed it in a very real way. The emotions, the denial and finally the acceptance. The family dynamic was amazing. The actors were all so believeable and blended so well. And even though it was very sad, we really thought it was an excellent movie!
This story of these two people and their families who love them will stay with me for the rest of my life. I have never been so moved. All the actors were perfectly cast, and I love that I can revisit certain scenes over and over again on Netflix, so I can reminisce. From Scatch was exceptionally well done.
Done watching this! I cried a lot!😢
Same! A looot!!!
SO BEAUTIFUL! 😍😍 The part about creating a story about a Black woman being adventurous not steeped in struggle was a big reason why i loved this series so much. 🥰
Loved the book and thoroughly enjoyed the series! I cried like a baby!
This is a man, that knows how to raise a daughter!
Yup. Ignore her and leave. Its the best medicine!
Such a blending rich culture mix. 100% Awesome!👊👊
This show is a roller coaster of emotions . Sooo good ❤️

From Scratch - Plot

Love the series.
Would recommend to watch it. It has touched me to the core.

I cried my heart!!! Out!!
Thank you for telling this story - it resonates 100% ❤️
I loved it. Enjoyed so much!
So good … true love… feel good and emotional
It's such an amazing love story heartbreaking 💔 😢 but real AF and so well made - loved every moment ‼️
Can´t wait for it
This was excellent. Loosely based on a true story and is showing a sister's experience, which may not be yours but can be appreciated. I loved it.
From some comments I see a few critiques but what ppl need to realize is the black experience is not limited... Black ppl are having all different types of experiences nowadays and it may include other cultures and other races.. and I am here for it...
Sometimes we are our worse critics and it is absolutely sad. Cheers to every single one in the cast. They did an amazing job!
Thank you❤
This was the only series that seriously make me cry. Like literally cry
heard it's good, might tune in
Loved it❤
Attraction knows no color. Love conquers all.
Not just a love story, but a story about Family. ❤

Many Sicilians possess a degree of African DNA Johnny Cash's first wife Vivian Liberto was one of them, unfortunately she refused to acknowledge her African Roots, however when Roseann Cash, (the daughter of Johnny Cash and Vivian Liberto) had her DNA analyzed she discovered that she is related to none other than actress Angela Bassett
Having 1-2% DNA does not affect your physical appearance nor does it in any way give you a reason to bond or claim the culture of the country of that DNA hahaha
This seems like an interesting story and it's not offen you also get to see an Italian story that's not just about mobsters. Intriguing.
Starlord is heartbroken..and Gamora is enjoying her life dating a Sicilian guy
literally thought it was iceposeidon on the thumbnail XD
Argh I laughed and cried watching this show 😫😫😫
Plz tell me is it a sad ending or happy one??
It's bittersweet like life
Nah dont listen to what everyone says especially the "its bittersweet" no. Its a really REALLY sad ending. Made me regret watching it cause i grew so close to both characters.
@@Neytiristree omg... Tnx for telling. I m not in right mindset to watch anything sad.
@@aishwaryasmruti6611 np! Its still a beautiful show just has a sad ending.
@@Neytiristree yeaa i will definitely watch when i am mentally in a good place.
She mixed tho! 🤔
She's still black
And that's ok! Never knew till you decided to spell it out!
@@oli_sparkle3797 exactly
But she looks like the women from the real story, who is fully black. That's why they casted her.
I find that line a bit concerning "in a city with no centre, I'm your centre". I'm not sure if that's a good thing. That's hinging so much on the partner, on the relationship. What happens when that partner changes? Or the relationship changes or evolves? Then where does he find his centre? I think people should not do something just for the sake of their partner. I mean, yes, some things we do, we sacrifice for our partner or relationship, but that should be because doing so will give us something we want. It should never be an "altruistic sacrifice" because that just leads to a lot of resentment if the act is not reciprocated or received in a way we want.
I agree, in many relationships, a partner shouldn't be your everything but I do believe there are those rare and unique relationships that go far beyond. They truly believed they were soulmates and indulged in that. They were already fighting against so much adversity from society and family but still chose to be together. That built such love, trust and commitment between them that they still felt connected, even in death. Even at the end when Amy thanks Lino for leading her to Sicily, you can still see the strength of their bond even though they were no longer physically together.
This series is an emotional rollercoaster 🎢 ... With love 💙
Classic American ignorance: "Sicily is not like the rest of Italy", each Italian region is unique and different from the rest of Italy. Only in the USA do you somehow believe that 19 Italian regions are the same and then Sicily is completely different
She told it from her pov and what she exprience . Lol it's based off of a true story so I'm guessing there is a little truth to it
@@terynb4407 But what does it have to do with it? In the USA they treat Sicily as if it were a different nation, they are extremely ignorant
They also did a bit of stereotyping of people from Texas. I don't think it was done to be ignorant but exaggerated to show differences in culture. Many shows and movies exaggerate things for dramatic purposes. People from all over the world are more similar than we think and if the reality was made into a movie, it would be pretty boring to watch so things are amped up to make them seem more interesting. I didn't get any bad impressions of Italy or Sicily from watching this show. I viewed it more about portraying family and community and not about stereotyping.
Why are people still making a big deal about race? You're not your race so you don't need to distinguish yourself by race. You're a human being telling a human story, no racial detail needed.
Exactly
It's a big part of the story. Why act like race is inconsequential??
Did you watch this video? Race is a big conflict in the story!
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Amore
Zoe has long wavy hair and is about two skin shades away from the Sicilian people, yet they still have a problem with her race. A Sicilian with a tan would be the same complexion. If they cast someone like Lupita, then his family's objection would be more believable.
She still look black and look like the real Amy her hair doesn’t mean nothing and she wear an wig on this movie I don’t know why and I love Lupita but I don’t think she would fit the role
Zoe Saldana looks just like the real person who wrote the book about her experiences. They almost look like twins. Lupita would be totally wrong for this role.
Isn’t she From Columbia? Why not cast someone black if that’s the story you wanted to tell?
Afro-Latinos exist, you realize…
I think she is dominican
She's from New Jersey. That being said she's still black I don't know the percentage but it's at least half.
Shes dominican. SHE IS BLACK. We dominicans come in many shades. We are afro latin
She wasn't black until jobs became scarce, but seriously it's not always about race because anyone who looks like Saldana (Or even myself) you can tell we're mixed.
Cedric the Entertainer is Black, so why did the director cast a mixed woman to pass off as black?
It's misleading, and the old saying that black people come in many shades is another falsehood, we come in many shades because we're mixed, to some degree with non-African DNA..
I would have preferred to see a Darker skinned woman in the role, it would have made the story more believable for me.
I am 100% African Congolese and I have the same shade and face as Zoe just I have bigger lips than Zoe I don’t understand how much black she need to be to satisfy y’all I could see myself in this movie because Zoe is black and I am African
This movie is based on a true story and Zoe looks similar to the woman whose life is being portrayed. I think she did a good job.
Oh please. Must some black women whine about everything. For God’s sake this series is based on a true life story and the woman is not as dark as lupita.
You are ignorant. Zoe looks like the twin sister of the real woman. She's perfect for this role. Your preference has nothing to do with this story.
Another movie with Zoe in love yet another white dude. Nothing new here!
Well, Zoe in real life is married with an Italian..
Americans you can give yourself racist names like you want, i do not care, but stop to speak in the name of "black people" or "white people". We ain't the same just because we have the same skin color, you are american. Love it or hate it. But Eurasia and Africa is not white, black or PoC.
Such a blending rich culture mix. 100% Awesome!
