I’m half Samoan my mom told me when I was like 4 “ you wanna swim son” I replied yes and she threw me into the deep end to learn through survival😂😂 this was all I did in a rapid panicking motion. She then showed me how to do it calm and every since I’ve felt like a fish in water 😅

I learned to tread water real quick when I went down on the titanic, I treaded water for days then ended up catching a ride back to land on a dolphin, man what a ride.

I learned this when I was 15 the hard way. My cousin pushed me in a deep pool and I nearly drowned. Nobody knows how to help me so I kicked and kicked until I floated.

Iwas the same age, but it's a different story. My dad had his fishing hook stuck in a rock in deep water , i had to swim all the way there, and treaded water while trying to take it out. I finally did and swimmed back i was happy that i learned both swimming fast and treading water

@@oneyedeagle basically we learned on the fly haha... it's funny though that what is being taught here can sometimes be learned by instinct,or by survival for that matter.

They teach this technique because the egg beater method doesnt work while wearing flight boots, they just pull you down.

I can float for an hour even longer literally without flapping or moving around. Will that be acceptable for treading water in navy basic?

@@spirit3277 SO UPDATE: hahaha. I found someone to teach me how to treadwater. They are a pro waterpolo player and they said that eggbeater uses less energy.
So really it is what is most comfortable for you/what you prefer. U can do that but I personally think breakstroke kick drained more energy for me after I learned how to eggbeat.

spirit3277 No it’s not like karate. You’re supposed to keep the knee bent.
If u karate kick u will straighten ur leg fully and u will sink faster.
You should find someone to teach u cos I watch a lot of videos and it didn’t help until I found someone to watch me.
