- ENGLISH country cottage tour guided room by room house tour of this wonderful 250-year-old Norfolk Broads Cottage set in a wonderful rose-filled cottage garden on the edge of a nature reserve in the Broads National Park. The Cottage tour starts in the cottage garden, enters the country cottage, and then guides you through all the rooms of this wonderful and historic cottage. The Country Cottage setting, on an island surrounded by water, offers complete privacy, surrounded by wildlife, and a secret special feature revealed at the end of the video.
We hope you enjoy this cottage tour and it inspires you to visit the Norfolk Broads. We are thinking of putting the cottage on the holiday letting market in 2021 for visitors wanting to get away from it all. You may have noticed, no TV, no phone, no internet! this cottage is really off-grid and allows a complete break from the modern world.

American here, 68 yrs old, in my whole life I’ve never seen anything nicer than English, Irish, Welsh & Scottish cottages! Cozy, homey, comforting, wonderful gardens, and if I could, I would drop everything (except my cat) & move to one! Especially this one! I wouldn’t change a thing in it!

You wouldn’t like those stairs in a few years! I lived in a little cottage like this in Norfolk - but I was in my 40s then…. My only bathroom was downstairs.

Darjeeling, of course. Steeped for exactly four minutes. In delicate white china cups with pink peonies painted on them. With hot buttered scones, no less.

This is my dream home, although I might need a toilet upstairs. The gardens are so beautiful and the setting just dreamy. I can imagine being cozy on a cold night next to one of the stoves with a good book. I’m an American and may I just say that I love that you called a sitting room a “snug.” I’m convinced that the British are my people!

Reminded me of my family's 1845 rural farmhouse, where the bedrooms were on the top floor, and the only bathroom was on the ground floor. It wasn't practical to go running down the steep dogleg staircase in the middle of the night. Especially as the parents got older & had heart problems & arthritis, using a 'thundermug' was not only practical but safer. Also brings to mind my grandparents' house which had indoor plumbing as well as an outhouse. House-proud & meticulous about housekeeping, we weren't allowed to traipse in & out of the house, mucking up the squeaky-clean, wax-shined floors (that seriously, you could eat off of them), just to use the bathroom. The outdoor privy was kept clean as well, so using it wasn't a problem, except for the occasional encounter with a large spider! A trip down memory lane... (-:

I still can hear my OCD mother yelling "I will not have you kids traipsing in and out of here with your muddy shoes and mucking up the floors!" Everyone had to take off their shoes at the kitchen door. I'll never forget one day when one of my silly neighbors came over and saw the neatly lined up row of shoes. She asked me "Is your family Japanese??"
Beautiful. What else would a person need in life. We had a new house buil in the countryside, but in a cottage style. 60m2 net plus a roofed porch 30m2. With a forest in the back of the property, we wake up to a choire of singing birds every morning, grow fruit trees and a small veggie garden and our pets. I dont need anything more than that. Beautiful garden you have there😍

My American hometown’s old houses tend to be very spread out and Victorian in architecture. They are very beautiful and cozy, but there’s something so inviting about the way an English cottage can fit so much of that coziness into a more compact space.

All is beautiful to me. I mean the fairytale side of it, like the cottagey, the flower garden, the terracotta floor tiles, the old and rustic furniture, everything. I just wish it's more of an open concept. Well, open concept never shouts traditional.

WOW! This American who has always wanted to go to England where my ancestors came from is thankful for this video. My dream house has always been a cozy English style cottage with gardens. Instead, I live in north central Florida in a great big house on 5 acres. I would take it for a cozy English cottage with gardens any day!

I love that there are little surprises at every turn in an English garden. I know it rains a good bit but that and the rich soil make conditions just right for creating such a garden. I am pretty confident that I would stumble out of bed and stumble down the stairs to use the bathroom, lol! That being said, I find this cottage absolutely charming.

I'm 25, I already want to retire at 65 and buy a house in a small town in England! How pretty, imagine this beauty full of snow? It would look lovely!
We agree with you and we would really love to get some photos of the cottage in the snow . We had heavy snow last year but unfortunately we were not able to get over to the cottage to photograph it, and of course this year we have not had any snow.

I’m curious how they were able to get furniture up those stairs
In bits, the mattresses were a challenge.
When visiting Scottish castles w very narrow staircases up to tower bedrooms, we were told, that they carried the lumber up and built the furniture up there🤔 Some of the beds were enormous!

I have to say something. I notice that the British (especially England) use this beautiful blue-grey-green colour on doors and trim. It just works. I see it everywhere. I love it. It's not done here (abroad) and I just know I will never find that perfect grey-green that you use so well!

One of my Uncle and Aunts live in Blakeney and my Father was born just down the road at Beeston Regis near Sheringham, I’ve traced my Fathers paternal family back to that area of the world to the early 1500’s and they’ve probably been there since time began! It’s a beautiful part of England.

The planning and attention to detail of the building is very special. Great consideration for comfort and beauty taken. Wonderful windows with beautiful views out of each and beautiful light in. Makes me feel peaceful and hopeful. Just a thought, how it might change the perspective and therefor the life of a poor young, black kid who’s lived in the projects of New York City all their life. Or any other isolated and trapped type person.

Those windows in the roof of the bedrooms with the view of the trees and field, as well as the birds chirping. That made me easily picture being there a few hundred years ago, sitting at a desk writing, or laying in bed with the breeze come in listening to the birds. So beautiful!

As an American who has never lived in anything older than 100 years old, it almost feels illegal to live in something so historical! But this is all over UK and Europe huh? If I lived in a place like this I could only hope the spirits of the place would accept me as their new inhabitant! xD
