I remember watching this game, live. These are 2 physical teams. the most yellow and red cards ever in a tournament. it was a slugfest. many of these guys almost engaging in real fights. i wish someone would post the whole game.

There is only one national team in football that is called the »Mannschaft« in the world. And that is the national team of Germany. It is a synonym like »Three Lions« for England, »Squadra Azzurra« for Italy or »Seleção« for Brazil. Cameroons football team are the »Lions Indomptables« which translates into »Indomitable Lions«.
I know but It's created by marketing companys and the media for facebook and didnt't emerge from itself long astablished like "squadra azzurra" or your examples so it isn't of the same value and it won't prevail (well atleast in germany). no one i know calls Germanys team that way and this wont change.

But here comes the flip side of the coin: As a matter of fact, especially French media have called the German team »Le Mannschaft« for two or three decades. This game summarized how this Cameroon legendary team was wasted. They were more than capable of lifting the world cup itself seeing as they even beat the legendary Brazilian team later in the Confedarations
It quite insane how poor a team Germany actually was for reaching all the way to the final.... but it's clearly evident Oliver Kahn had one of the greatest World Cup's any keeper has ever had.
Pagliuca, Goicochea, Dino Soff, Peter Schmihel, Ikea Casillas, Jorge Campos, Jose Luis Chilabert, and I can keep going, were as good as this guy, some were better for sure.

Also, yes, there have been many other great goalkeepers. But Kahn was on the peak of his performance at this point of time and was the outstanding player of this team. It's no coincidence he was later voted player of the tournament, which has never been achieved by a goalkeeper before.

Wow, it's kind of strange to see that game in such a nice HD quality since you always see old footage in much worse quality which makes it seem old, but this looks so... don't know how to describe :D I think you all know what I mean
Niklas Chx i think this is how we remember watching it back then live. The problem is nearly all recorded footage was on vcr so converting that back in to digital makes it look old. This video was probably from a digital archive fifa had stored so looks good.

The problem is that our federation made a very bad organisation of our team and all the players were so tired for this tournament.
We used to play the final against Brazil.
