Flipping Draws brought me here and I ain’t going anywhere! ✊🏾
❤
Me, too!
Me 3
Same! I can see how these two are friends.
Both pieces turned out AMAZING...but I cannot wait to browse his channel!
Thanks Cate 😀❤️
The question is, who has the better assistant? David’s ever playful Daisy or Jay’s loving cat? It could be a draw.
The cat that visits Jay doesn’t belong to him, it’s his neighbor’s.
Haha I’d have to say Daisy but then I am slightly biased 😂😂😂
me😂
@@pamm3776 An assistant can belong to the neighborhood 🐾
Who would have thought that something this beautiful was hiding under that purple paint and flowers? Nice work!
Thanks Karen and it was a relief that it wasn’t too badly damaged under all that paint 😀😀
Jay at Flipping Drawers is amazing....so not surprised that you two are mates! Thank you both for stripping to the bare wood and bringing back the grain of each piece.
Thanks for watching 😀😀
Wow! Very impressive!! I love that my two favorites collaborated!! This was fun! Hi Daisy! ❤️🐕
Hi Gail. Thanks for your continued support. Daisy says hi 😀🐶❤️
Flipping Drawers invited a bunch of us to show up to your place unannounced. See how he is? Can you put the kettle on? 😂
You both are so talented!
Thank you for the content!
💚😂
Hahaha You’re all welcome here anytime and I’m happy making virtual brews for everyone 😂😂👍
It is a wonderful restoration! Glad to see two of my favorite masters collaborating. Hope it’s not the last time ❤
❤
Hi Alla. I’m sure it won’t be the last time we work together. It was hard work but I loved it 😀👍
She has gone from funky to refined. Well done!
Thanks so much 😀😀
Wow! it looks more MCM then when it was new 🤣 Absolutely gorgeous job my friend. Thanks for the challenge! It was a lot of fun 😉
Hi Buddy. As you know, I’m not a huge fan of MCM but I actually loved the finished item too. I enjoyed doing this collaboration with you and even though it was a lot of work I’ll look forward to dreaming up our next challenge 😂😀👍👍👍
You and Jay are so very cute. Each of you picking the absolute worst piece you could find. Both of you proved your metal on this one. Love it.
💛
Hi Mary, we definitely challenged each other but really enjoyed it too 😀😀
This piece started out as something I would have loved when I was a teenager. Somebody put in a lot of work decoupaging all that flowered paper on there, and the purple was just what my teen-aged self would have loved! That being said, you did a fantastic job breathing new life into this old piece. Great attention to detail. You have so much patience.
Hi Christine. This piece definitely had its place at one time in the past but it was crying out to be given a new look. I’m pleased you liked the end result 😀😀
Fantastic collab! Enjoyed both videos so much. Even though that was a super ugly piece, I think your pick for Jay was worse! Lol! So much fun watching both videos though and I cant believe how nice that purple monstrosity turned out! Wow! Loved watching these and thank you so much for all the hard work that goes into putting these on CZcams for us to enjoy! I hope you two do more challenges in the future! Great to see Daisy too!😄👍🐕
Hi Jennifer. What a great comment and I totally agree that Jay had a much worse piece than me. I felt a little but guilty as I was watching the premiere. I knew I’d chosen a challenging piece but didn’t realise it was quite that bad. 😂😂👍
There is no doubt in my mind why you and Jay have become friends. Vision and talent is the common thread. Well done!
We have become really good mate and thanks so much for your kind comment. 😀😀👍👍
❤
Lovely restoration and you gave “de-flowering” a whole new meaning.
Hahaha I thought that was a cheeky play in words 😂😂 Thanks Jill
This was so much fun! Thank you for the laugh! Thank you for the Daisy fix! No one will ever know what disgraceful things were done to that dresser. It looks better than new. About three years ago when I was still working, I told my clients how much I loved watching CZcams videos, and I cannot believe how many asked me how much it cost! We seniors tend to think of the word subscription as having a fee attached. I have asked many people who were trying to grow their channels to mention that it was free. No one ever did! I'm glad you did. I cannot wait to see what you guys dig up for each other next!💜💜💜
Hi Anita. Thanks as always for your lovely comments and your love for little Daisy. So pleased you enjoyed this challenge and it’s really interesting to hear you say that about subscriptions. It’s definitely helped with my subscriptions too as they have jumped up massively 😀😀👍🐶❤️
Oh no, I thought you were gonna save the flowers! 😊 Very nice, great job on the finish.
Hahaha hi Pit, thanks for coming over from Jays video. My deepest apologies about the flowers 😂😂👍👍
You guys might also want to point out that joining CZcams itself is also free. Folks may be watching without the app, thinking it costs also. I love YT! Truly, it is very nice seeing real people and chatting with other viewers and learning from it. No ‘influencers’ for me, tho.
I joined both of your channels pretty much at the same time, love the competition. It’s inspiring seeing you guys do what you love! I also watch Dashner Designs from the US and Modern Makeovers (if you like mid century and newer, he’s your guy).
I will say that if this piece had been originally painted or particle board, the paint and flowers would have been good. But it was sinful to do that to this!
Beautiful!❤
That’s a great point. I just assumed that people would know CZcams is free to use (unless you opt for premium) but I guess not everyone thinks that. I’ll take on your advice in my next video and explain how YT works for those that may not know. Thanks again for taking the time to watch and pass on your suggestion, it’s much appreciated 😀😀👍
So wonderful to see two of my favorite artists work their magic. David (and Daisy), this was incredible work. Thank you for sharing your talent with us!
❤
Hi Kathy (and the pooches). Thanks for your love,y words 😀🐶❤️
Oh my gosh! This is beautiful! You and Jay really challenged each other and both of you came out with flying colors! I love this piece! You are very talented, and so is Jay. I would love to see a couple more of these. Take care!
Hi Rachael. It was a challenge but lots of fun and I’ve no doubt we’ll think of another challenge in the near future 😀😀
🤩
Ok, I have to be honest. I laughed out loud when I saw the piece Jay picked for you. My first thought was, what are you going to do with that. I thought Jay’s dresser was bad. At the end you did an amazing job with it. Absolutely beautiful. Thanks to Jay I have a new channel to follow. 😊
Hi Judy, it was a very striking piece of furniture wasn’t it 😂😂😂 Thanks so much for subscribing to my channel. 😀😀😀
❤
Yay, nice to see you two talented furniture restorers coming together in challenge. I discovered you, David, after following Jay previously. I love both of your styles and your talents. Nice job; nice transformation!
Hi Debbie, thanks for your lovely comment and so pleased you enjoyed the challenge 😀😀👍
What a fun collaboration with you two! I have watched you both for a long time and love to see the great stuff you do! ❤
Thanks so much Kody 😀😀
Thank you David - you and Jay are amazing woodworking 🎉
Thank you so much Charlotte, that’s really kind of you 😀😀
💛
Beautiful result! All of that paint and flower power that you scraped away…the depth of wood grain that you brought out…amazing! Loved this Impossible Restoration challenge.
Thank you so much Lisa 😀😀
I love Jay so much! And you two doing this to each other is hysterical! I've been your fan for a while now as well... and this only makes everything better. Great pieces, both of you!
Hi Carmen, Jay is a star and has helped me with my channel so much. We both really enjoyed doing this challenge and so glad you did too 😀😀
That piece finally got its dignity back!!! Thank you for saving it!!!
Thanks 😀😀
I love that you two are friends, because I follow both of you already, and was delighted that you know each other and did this challenge. I hope you do many more in the future! Both of you had great outcomes! Love to Daisy!
❤
We had a blast doing this together and I’ve no doubt we’ll dream up some other challenges in the near future 😀😀❤️
Aaah, I'm so happy the pair of you have become friends 🥰
What an amazing transformation from the purple turtle 🌻🌹Great job Dave 😉
Hello Daisy Darling 🐕🤗💕
Hahaha hi Rochelle. I always look forward to your comments. Thanks so much, I’ve loved doing this with Jay and we’re like two old gossips on the phone every day now. 😂😂😂😂 Daisy says hi 😀❤️
@@MayfieldRestorations aah, that's awesome Dave 🥰 I can pick up on that fun loving banter vibe between the two of you. Looking forward to seeing some more collaborations/challenges 🤗
Don't forget about Daisy and me 🤗🐕
I love how you pat the piece after each task, as if encouraging it to feel loved and own its beauty :)
Haha I’ve never actually noticed until you mentioned it. I think it’s just because I love working on these old pieces of furniture 😀😀😂
What a save! And what a cool collaboration from two of my favourite restorers
Thanks very much. I really enjoyed doing this with Jay, it’s was a lot of work but great fun. We’ll definitely be thinking of new ways to work together in the near future 😀😀
Izzy is gorgeous! You began with a piece of trash, I thought, and ended with a piece of beautiful furniture! Great looking in the end! God bless you!
😀👍
I love watching Jay and am so glad you did this collaboration with him. Your channel is now on my favorite list and i can’t wait to see your next project. You both did an astounding job. Well beyond anything I imagined.
Hi Beverley. Thank you and thanks for your subscription, it means a lot to me 😀😀😀
❤
David, I've been a subscriber to both yours, and Jay's channels for quite a while now. I also subscribe to Ahti at AT Restorations. All three of you do excellent work, and I'm always excited to see the finished pieces. None of you disappoint!!! Maybe you could include Ahti on the next challenge. Thank you for all of your videos. They are all so GOOD!!!!
Hi Karen. Now that’s a compliment! I watch AT restorations and I have learnt so much from him as he is a trained restorer. To be likened to his work is amazing as I’ve never had any formal training and I’m always learning as I go. Thank you so much 😀😀
Hideous to handsome! Like the piece you "gifted" Jay, this project defies description. Originally it looked like a good kindling source, except for the layers of paint and paper. (Wouldn't want to be breathing the fumes from that stuff.)These videos have been a real treat. I'm so glad you two found each other. Nothing like gifted craftsmen challenging each other in what they do best.
Hi Julie. Thanks so much. That piece I chose for Jay was a stinker but I think he almost got his own back with the purple piece I got 😂😂😂 So pleased you enjoyed the videos form both of us 😀😀
What an Amazing transformation David, you certainly used your magic on this one it's absolutely beautiful. Love daisy doing her bit as well. Xx
Hi Freyja. Thanks as always for you lovely comments and as always your love for Daisy 😀🐶❤️
Great collaboration! Both projects are perfect! Cheers and thank you for the content!
Thanks so much 😀😀
Who would have thought that beauty was under that beast! Fantastic work!
Hi Virginia, what a great comment. I like it…thanks so much 😀😀
Perfection from trash to treasure from ugly to stunning
Hi Gaynor, thank you so much. I’m glad you liked the end result 😀😀
Who knew that handsome gentleman was hiding under all that purple flower power? Well done!
A definite diamond in the rough 😀😀👍
You returned that lovely lady to her glory! Wonderful restoration.
Thank you so much 😀😀
You and Jay sure picked from the trash pile. I was astounded at the beautiful wood under that paint and paper. Bravo! Daisy had a very difficult time picking just the right cork. Hilarious!
I was pleasantly surprised with the beautiful wood underneath too. Daisy was spoilt for choice 😂😂🐶❤️🍾
😂
This challenge is so much fun. Love the idea. You and Jay are in my the top 5 of my favorite artisans list. You both are meticulous, and, you both have excellent design and color sense. The walnut stain was perfect for the piece. At first I expected you to change the hardware, but I see at the end how perfect the hardware shape is for the total shape of the piece. The gold paint for the hardware matches a gold fleck in the stained wood. Overall it looks fabulous.
What a fabulous comment. Thank you so much and you are so very kind. I really appreciate your support 😀😀❤️
Beautiful work! You really brought this piece back to life! (And I love your dog!)
Thank you very much 😀🐶❤️
You're right, that purple paint stunned me!
Honestly, I don't understand the "furniture flippers".
🤣👍
Who would paint over that beautiful wood? And with that ghastly purple paint and floral paper! So 1970’s! But, it looks stunning now. Jay is going to have to work hard to top this!
Hi Vickie. Thanks so much. When you check out Jays video you’ll see how hard he worked 😂😂😀😀
@@MayfieldRestorations … I just watched Jay’s video… you’re right, he did work hard. You gave him a tough piece to work on - now, I think he went easy on you! His turned out great as well!
Night and day! Wow, truly a stunning restoration, David! Thanks for all your great tips and info along the way, too. Great video, awesome final result!
Awww thanks Jenn. It’s lovely when one of “the gang” watch and leave a comment. 😀❤️
this turned out very very lovely, but it did not require near as much work or expertise required to make jay's just as lovey as yours. you guys tie at making it lovely but he wins hands down on expertise required..
Flipping draws advised me to check you out, so pleased he did. You have made a wonderful transformation of that dreadful purple unit..
Well done!!! Never doubted your ability to turn that piece back into something beautiful.
Hi Susie, that’s really kind of you to say, thanks so much 😀😀
I had found Jay's channel, then yours, a few months ago. I was so excited to hear the two of you were doing a collaboration. You did not disappoint, neither of you. You both did a fantastic job on your projects. I enjoy both channels so much and am always in awe at how each of you transform things that would be headed for the trash into beautiful pieces of furniture anyone would love to own.
Hi Doris. So pleased you found us both and like the stuff we do. It’s a pleasure doing something you love and it’s very satisfying to hear how you enjoy our work 😀😀
🤗
Flipping drawers sent me!! 😊 purple 😮 you have your work cut out for you. 🤓
Thanks for coming over. 😃👍
Nothing against purple but holy moly. Beautiful finish. Looks much different. Classy.
😃👍
Oh my goodness, that turned out beautifully. The wood looks wonderful. Well done.
Hi Chanda. Thanks so much 😀😀
Well, you would never think it was such a beautiful flowery purple thing before. You did a fantastic job. Now it looks like someone does love it. Great job, looks beautiful.
Thanks so much 😊😀
David, your attention to detail every single time just boggles my mind..that piece turned out absolutely gorgeous..talk about a sows ear into a silk purse...always a big smooch to the Marvelous Daisy!!
Hi Kim, as always thanks so much for your lovely comments. Daisy says hi 😀🐶❤️
Flipping Drawers brought me here. Yes, I subscribed.
Hi Melanie. Thanks so much for making the journey over to my channel and so much for your subscription 😀😀
Final reveal turned out awesome! The gold handles really set it off. Well done.😮😊
Thanks very much Robert. 😀😀
Followed the link from flipping drawers. Top quality job there, a lovely mid century bit of furniture.
Thank you very much! 😃
Beautiful. You truly respected the piece.
Thank you very much!😀
Wow! I am not a mid century reason, either, but you transformed this into a handsome striking piece. The stain color & grain have a warm glow & sparkle. I am really surprised & impressed with your work on the drawer hardware.
Excellent work!
Jay & your challenges are great fun!
Thanks so much Angela 😀😀
Just subscribed on the basis of this great restoration. The original gave me some nostalgia for those 60’s vibes but my adult common sense told me what a great job you have done. This piece will be treasured for years. Thanks for the fabulous collaboration.
Hi Kathleen, thanks for your lovely comment and for your subscription. Welcome to my channel 😀😀
Update: Wow! You did an awesome job! I am an admirer of your work. Going to catch up on your other projects. Jay made a great recommendation with your channel! Have an awesome day!
Hi Cheryl. Thanks so much for coming to have look at my channel and welcome aboard. 😀😀👍
I hate when people cover stuff up like this, but I sure love watching it get removed!
Thanks very much 😀
@@MayfieldRestorations great work by the way. Lots of sweat equity in this piece.
Amazing transformation. Purple over that nice woodgrain. 😢.
Thanks Susan, not sure what the thought was behind that bright purple paint 😂😂
So nice to watch the final result, turning that piece to the amazing work of art.
Thank you so much 😀
I’ve come over from Jay’s channel. You both did beautiful jobs on very challenging pieces!
Thanks so much and thanks for coming over to watch 😀😀👍
💛
Subscribed! Your photos at the end were great...not too fast...and stepping back to see the whole piece slowly...Well done!! (btw, Jay sent me)
Thanks to you that beautiful piece can breathe again!
Thanks Katie 😀😀
Fantastic! I would proudly display both of those pieces in my home. I hope you continue challenging one another!
😀❤️
You and Jay make an incredible team! Gorgeous!
Thanks so much Lisa, it was great working together in this 😀😀
someone painted a clown face on a piece of furniture that deserved better. you not only gave back its dignity, but made it proud of what it is now. thank you, from a 5th-generation woodworker.
Thanks very much 😀😀👍
You absolutely smashed it out of the park, David. Well done! 😮
Hi Tarnya. Thanks so much and thanks for watching. Really enjoyed doing this video with Jay. 😀❤️
@@MayfieldRestorations it would have been a lot of fun to challenge each other. Again, fabulous! 🤌🏼
Well at least you didn't have to deal with a worm laden haunted piece that you chose 😂
Hahaha I know. I genuinely didn’t realise the piece I chose for Jay was that bad as I had only seen photographs of it. He did an amazing job with it 😀😀
Loved the challenge - and the fantastic results. You’re two very talented blokes. Another challenge please!
Thanks very much Jill. I’m sure we’ll be doing something together in the near future 😀😀
Wow! Gorgeous! I loved the collaboration. I found you through Flipping Drawers. Please do this sort of thing with Jay again. So much fun! ❤
Hi Dimps. Stay tuned as I’ve no doubt we’ll be working together in the near future 😀😀
will do 😉
Lots of work, but so worth it in the end ❤️
Beautiful! What a transformation! Going to watch Jay's video now.
Thanks William and you’ll be amazed at what Jay does with his piece 😀😀👍
I also came here via FlippingDrawers and am so glad I did. Beautiful work. I’m subscribing because this is quite a restoration.
Thanks so much for coming to see my work and for your subscription. It’s much appreciated 😀😀
💚
Dang dude, what a transformation. It turned out absolutely beautiful.
Thanks so much 😀❤️
Very nice! You took a piece destined for a land fill and gave it a useful life. Great job.
Hi Karen. Thank you very much. It was definitely a challenge but I was really pleased with how it turned out 😀😀
Amazing! Absolutely love the detail of staining the dovetail joints!!!!!
Thanks very much Daniel 😀😀
David it turned out beautiful. This was fun watching you and Jay. Love Daisy
Thanks very much Tammy 😀😀
💚
I've loved this collab. Both of you did brilliantly. Knew ya would.
Thanks so much Emer 😀😀
Loved the challenge with Jay. You both do outstanding work!!!
Thanks so much Ann 😀😀
Beautiful. Restored to its former glory. Reminds me of some of the furniture my grandma liked.
So please you liked it and it’s evoked memories 😀😀
Then repurposed for sisters
Wow, you definitely smashed it as Jay said! You turned it into an unbelievably beautiful piece! Daisy had a lot to say about you working to hard an not being able to play😊. Love your videos so awesome!
Hi Pam, Daisy always has a lot to say if she’s not getting 100% of my attention. Diva Daisy 😂😂🐶❤️
I have a 13lb dog that is very vocal at times. Especially if I leave him to go out. When I come back he really tells a long story 😂😂😂😂
A much classier look over the purple, for sure!
Thanks so much 😀👍
Thanks for sharing. It was a lot of fun watching your challenge. Your piece turned out beautiful.
Thanks so much Michelle 😀😀
I think he stitched you up on this piece good luck
He certainly did but I stitched him up worse I think 😂😂😂
Nicely done David. Your skill was rewarded.
Thanks James 😀😀
Beautiful restoration! The challenge was very fun to watch!
😀❤️
Purple flower power to sleek and elegant! Beautiful!
Thank you! 😊😀
I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge between you and Jay !! You both chose some real doozies for each other. 😄 I knew that both of you would rise to the challenge and turn out some beautiful pieces. I hope you do another challenge. I love your friendship, humor and talent. Cheers from the Finger Lakes in NY, USA. 🍷
Hi Kim, so pleased you enjoyed it. We’ll definitely be doing something again in the near future 😀😀
Thanks to Jay at Flipping Drawers I found your channel. And I'm so glad I did. This piece turn out beautiful. Great job.
🤗
I’m so pleased you liked what you saw when you came over. Thanks for joining 😀😀
Wow! From a grape nightmare to a beautiful dream. That’s gorgeous!
😀👍
Jay brought me here. Beautiful job.
Welcome and thanks very much 😀😀
You did a beautiful job on that ugly purple dresser. You and Jay both knocked it out of the park. Good job!!!!!
Thanks so much Mike 😀😀
I love to see old wood furniture restored to it's original beauty, although I think this probably looks better than it did when it was new. I subscribed and I'll be looking for more of your beautiful transformations. This was a fun challenge with you and Jay. You are both so talented. It just goes to show that solid wood furniture can be fixed and refinished, not painted.
What a lovely comment, Thankyou so much and thank you for subscribing 😀😀😀
Hello Daisy xx. So glad you where able to sand those flowers of Must say I loved both yours and Jays makeover.
Thanks so much 😊🐶❤️
Stunning result….geesh….between you two, you could have such a fabulous furniture rehab store. Both of you are only satisfied with stellar results! Yay!
Thanks so much, and the store idea is a very interesting one. We’d probably get no work done though if we were in the same workshop, we love to chat 😂😂😂👍
